My concern with this item is that it's not important enough to be in the article - it's one thing to have an actual Scottish Fold in a work of art, but this is only a character that is based on a Scottish Fold - it's one step removed, so to speak. The company is no longer registered as Index Corporation as a business nor in the Tokyo Stock Exchange. You're right that iXIT is the same company as the Index Corporation founded in 2014; basically just a name change. Your approach would have been perfect if there hadn't been before other Index Corporation. The problem is that "Index Corporation" was used by two other companies that have have nothing to do with iXIT. The infobox in its curent state can be used for "Index Corporation" but not for "iXIT Corporation". IXIT certainly has nothing to do with the company founded in 1995. IXIT also has nothing to do with the company that was founded as Sega Dream and is now known as Atlus. The only link between iXIT and Index lies in the company founded in April 2014.

The Japanese Wikipedia has created seperate articles for all three Index Corporation companies. The English Wikipedia lumps them all together in one single article. As per

Wikipedia:COMMONNAME

, I think that the article should be renamed Index Corporation because this is the name that most people outside of Japan know the company and most non-Japaneses couldn't care less about iXIT. Obiously, there would still be mentions of iXIT on proses, but the article iself is probably best being moved back to the name of Index Corporation as this is the name that represents all three companies. IXIT applies to only one of the three companies.

Another approach you could take is create a new article called Index Corporation that would be for the original company that existed from 1995 to 2013 and leave the iXIT Corporation article for the company created in April 2014. (The second Index Corporation company already has its own article called Sega Dream/Atlus).

It's not about whether people "will care about iXIT" or not, it's about giving an objective overview of the company (truth be told, people only cared about Index because they were the parent company of Atlus, but that changed when Sega split Atlus and Index). Objectively speaking, iXIT is Index Corporation. Yes, their business purpose has changed, however, it's still the same company. I understand that Index Corporation was dissolved and reformed again under Sega only to be reformed by Swanao Holdings, however, the brand and purpose of the company was never gone within the process of change. And besides, there's not enough content to make a separate article about iXIT Corporation. I'll edit the infobox later so that it's reflective of iXIT Corporation. If you edit the infobox so that it's reflective solely to iXIT Coporation, you would need to remove the Index logo from the infobox and limit the founding year solely to April 1, 2014. Personally I'm okay with the idea; the history of the two previous Index Corporation would still be present in text on the article anyway. This would be an article similar to Midway Games or Sega where the articles discusse about the companies and their predecessors but the infobox is limited strictly for the last legal companies.

Images you find randomly on the internet are generally copyright; their authors formally do not allow you to do this. By linking to the list of games, I'm providing more useful information to the reader. The situation of Taito and Atlus is not the same at all.

1) Atlus really did stopped to exist as a company for 3 years and only returned legally in September 2013 and even then it wasn't yet called Atlus. Taito never ceased to exist as a legal entity and the name has only been passed on to three consecutive companies without any interruption.

2) Altus currently lists 2013 as its founding year. Taito still lists 1953 as its founding year in both its English and Japanese websites.

3) It has been well documented in many websites that Atlus was dissolved and merged into Index. Other than two obscure Square Enix official reports, sources about the exact structure of Taito is nonexistent. Taito itself makes no mention of it on either of its websites.

4) You don't need to teach me about the structure of Taito Corporation. I know it very well because I was the one that created in September 2015 that particular section on the Taito article and it was also me who brought those two Square Enix reports. And no offense intended, but I think that you're obsessing way too much about the structure of Taito and you need to let it go. The situation of Taito is not the same as Atlus. Hardly anyone (including Taito itself) care that Taito is the former ES1 Corporation. So please, let the exact structure of Taito stay in the Taito article where it belongs, stop pushing it on every article and stop comparing Taito to Atlus because this is apples and oranges. The subsdiaries infobox section on the Square Enix article is not there to say whether the Taito of today is legally the same as the one from 5 or 10 years ago; for that, there's the Taito article. The infobox is just there to point out 1) a list of the companies that Square Enix owns 2) how long have they been owned by Square Enix.

Taito did changed legally. It is officially not the same company from 2005. But in spite of this sea of legal mergers and dissolutions, at the end of the day, Taito has always been owned by Square Enix since 2005 which is what the "Subsidiaries" section should just limit itself to. The detailed legal stuff can go on the Taito article. And in all its incarnations, Taito has always been a registered legal company and never a name-only division like what happened with Atlus from 2010 to 2013. Cheers.

1. When you place a speedy deletion tag on a template, it should be enclosed in <noinclude> tags. E.g. <noinclude>speedy tag</noinclude>. Otherwise, that speedy deletion tag is transcluded onto every page that the template is used on.
2. Don't move a template, then place a speedy deletion tag on the old page when it is still being transclused. As explained above, you need to update every article that the template is transcluded on.

Taito franchise template

Hi there. Just wanted to let you know that a user by the name of NamcoKid43 created an unnecessary template called {{Franchises by Taito Corporation}} despite being fully aware that all Taito franchises are stored under {{Square Enix franchises}} I've provided a speedy deletion to the Franchises by Taito Corporation template, not only because it's a duplicate that came later than the Square Enix franchise template, but the fact that all the entries that are in the Taito Corporation, which are not in Square Enix franchise templates section of Taito are standalone games to begin with. Would you be able to keep an eye out on his activity, he also had a tendency to add standalone games to the {{Bandai Namco franchises}} template too, and I'm concerned that he may unintentionally go into spam territory with activity like this. Parent Company/Owner situation

Hi there. I have a query. Somebody provided an edit in which they deleted the owner section of a company infobox because their justification was that it's "legally impossible to have one company as owner and a different company as parent". Naturally, I followed suit at first because I thought it made sense. Now I was wondering, is that correct? Read Template:Infobox company. The owner field is essentially only for privately held independent companies, to denote investor or individual ownership. It is not used by subsidiaries and divisions (They use the parent field), nor is it used for publicly traded companies. There are several editors who incorrectly use these fields on a regular basis, and what they tend to do is put the subsidiary's reporting division as parent, and the legal owner as owner. Explaining why I reverted some of your edits in case you're wondering.

• Firstly, you cut-and-pasted moved two articles. You shouldn't does this as it splits the page histories, which means the text on the article isn't attributed to original author. (
  WP:CUTPASTE) In future, you should use the Move button in the top right. If it doesn't let you move then make a request at Wikipedia:Requested moves

Look, fact of the matter is, one of two things is definitely going to happen. (1) IO Interactive will be subsidized into another company, or (2) they will be dissolved. You can make the argument that I am crystal balling the situation, however, there is no alternate situation that is going to occur with IO Interactive as stated in the pdf. It's not as if Square Enix is all of a sudden going to say "We have changed our mind and wish to keep IO Interactive", either option 1 or option 2 is going to occur, and both of those options mean that Square Enix will no longer own IO Interactive. Question regarding parent company in company infoboxes

@Iftekharahmed96: Best to ask at Template Talk:Infobox company for a wider view. I can't say I have a strong opinion, but the current documentation says "The name(s) of the current and former parent companies." This would suggest a historical listing is allowed, but in many cases people feel that Infoboxes should convey the pertinent information of the current state. I.e. list the current (or last) parent, and let the prose cover the rest. In most cases, I just focus on cleaning up misuse of owner/parent, only one of which should be used at a time, as they are mutually exclusive in purpose. -- ferret (talk) 12:59, 20 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Continuing along these same lines, the person who opens a merge discussion cannot be the one to declare it closed! That's an obvious conflict of interest. Merge discussions are closed by disinterested, uninvolved third parties — generally an admin.

I'm not against merging Marvel Music into Marvel Studios; it's probably a good idea that cuts down on repetitive material. But there's a bigger picture. It's hard enough operating with collegiality and accord as it is — but if we don't follow the basic rules, it means anarchy, which is never a good state in which to get anything done. If the merge is a good idea, the discussion will likely close in favor of one. But let's follow protocol. There is, after all,

Yeah, but in it's current iteration, it's a dedicated regional development subsidiary to Creative Assembly. Again, with the Marvel Entertainment article, you have Marvel Entertainment (the current Marvel, a merger between Toy Biz and Marvel Entertainment Group) and Marvel Entertainment Group. Marvel Entertainment Group is legally unaffiliated with Marvel Entertainment. The only reason why it's in the same article is because the business operations were transferred to the newly created Marvel Enterprises. Uploading transparent logos

Hey,

There's no need to delete the existing version of a logo in order to update a new, transparent version. On the image page there's a link to upload a new version. Not only is it much quicker to get the new version up, but there's no need to go to the article and change the link to the image, as the new version will automatically appear on the page (though you may have to purge your browser's cache to see it). So that is why I removed the speedy tag at File:The Muppets Studio logo.png, as deletion is simply not necessary at all. oknazevad (talk) 13:10, 30 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Too late, I've already done it my way. Trust me, it's preferable this way as the previous version is not part of The Muppets Studio logo's history. Out of distraction, I have twice made the mistake of mentioning in my edit summary ES1 instead of SPC1. Since edit summaries cannot be modified on Wikipedia, I have decided to come to your talk page to explain myself.

1) The source doesn't say anything about SPC1 being a shell company. Personally, I think it was, but the source doesn't say so. If you can find a source that SPC1 was a shell company, feel free to add it back to the article. It's possible I may have missed a part on the Square Enix report.

2) There is nothing "important" about specifying that SPC1 was a shell company. LOL. This is triviality at best, especially that the article is about Taito (not SPC1). But like I said in #1, feel free to add it back if you can find a source that supports this and if it's really that important to you to have this in the article .

I've searched SPC1 and the only result it provided was the merging of the company with Taito. Because Square Enix has not provided any other public information about the company, it's safe to say that it is a shell corporation. And seeing as Wikipedia is information orientated, curious readers will click shell corporation to further understand what exactly that means and how it differs from regular companies. I'm a collaborative individual. I just wanted to ensure that you're not a vandal editor. Patterns for vandal editors is that they do a bunch of small increment based edits. However, if you do feel as though you want to revert your work back, you can just go on the edit history and click the latest iteration you worked on, press the edit button, copy, then go back to the most recent iteration and paste over your edits. Well, the best way to ensure that would be to scroll down to the last edit before I started editing and click "cur". This would show all the differences between my final edit and the page before I started editing - a quick glance at that would be enough to know it's not vandal. It can be difficult to keep number of edits to a minimum on pages with lists as a few of my edits were simply adding a game when I noticed it appear in a press release. Tange Gameworks and Japanese company names in general.

Your addition to Tango Gameworks seems loose on many ends; for one, Tango Gameworks has no official Japanese name, they have only ever used the English branding. They are also not icorporated under Japanese law, they are a division of ZeniMax Media through their ZeniMax Asia K.K. subsidiary. You added a Google Translate-translated version of their name with "株式会社" added in front of it without source or reason, which is, as previously noted, incorrect.Furhtermore, you made up something in the likes of "Kabushiki gaisha Tango K.K.", which would expand to "Kabushiki gaisha Tango kabushiki kaisha". Does doesn't look right, does it? There is no and probably never will be an official Japanese-language name for Tango Gameworks. The Japanese Wikipedia entry doesn't use a Japanese name for the company either.

I also recall that you sometimes changed Japanese company so that the "株式会社" is in front of the name instead of at the end of it, such as here, although it was not correct and and was done without reason; not all (Japanese) company names are composed in the same way. If made more of such edits, please revert them, thanks.

I wanted to make you aware that edits where you blame others for incorrectly listing "Division" whilst inserting incorrect information you created through Google Translate should, in 100% of cases, be avoided. If it sounded too harsh I must apologize, but at the same time I must ask you to undo edits of yours where you recall having done exactly this (inserting made-up Japanese names or swapping the KK position for no good reason), if there are any.

To put this dispute into content, NovaLogic the company is dissolved and it only exists as a trademark by THQ Nordic. @66.130.228.210: believes that I am crystal balling or making assumptions about the company's fate, and believes that NovaLogic is still a legal entity. If we look at THQ Nordic summary which clearly states all the subsidiaries of the company, https://www.thqnordic.com/company/about, NovaLogic is not mentioned, however, THQ Nordic themselves reported that they acquired NovaLogic's assets, https://www.thqnordic.com/article/thq-nordic-acquires-all-novalogics-franchises, https://www.trademarkia.com/novalogic-75098785.html, and their website has been inactive ever since the acquisition announcement. http://novalogic.com/. I argued against 66.130.228.210 because they refused to provide any explicit citations of the company's active status as a legal entity. This is the same user who openly criticised me for not reading the citations on the Namco article clearly, yet refuses to do the same with the NovaLogic article. Contrary to popular belief, I value this user's input on the website as they are clearly knowledgeable in business management, however, their authoritarian outlook on editing and false warning provides more harm than good. To the reviewing administrator(s) who will look at this situation

Here is a recapitulation of the situation. I will also give the reason why each of the warnings I gave to Iftekharahmed96 and Namcokid47 are justified.

As mentioned by Iftekharahmed96, the dispute started with the

Novalogic article. To be more specific, Novalogic’s video game catalogue was acquired by Nordic

in 2016. It isn’t known if the Novalogic company itself was acquired by Nordic.

1) Iftekharahmed96 believes that Novalogic is automatically a defunct company because its video game catalogue (but not the company itself) was acquired by Nordic and we should therefore include the “Defunct” parameter on the article's infobox. My position, on the other hand, is we don’t know have sources at this time to know whether Novalogic is an active company or a defunct company, and therefore no mention about its status should be made on the infobox. Iftekharahmed96 has assumed that since I don’t want the “Defunct” parameter to be the infobox due to lack of sources, I automatically consider Novalogic be an “active company” despite me already telling him that I don’t know whether Novalogic is active or defunct. [2]

On Wikipedia, when a challenging content doesn’t have any sources, we don’t mention it. And our

WP:BURDEN

policy allows for the removal of an unreferenced challenging material at any time. We don’t know if Novalogic as a company is defunct, therefore we don’t mention it. Simple as that. Iftekharahmed96 has argued that I should be the one finding a source to support my removal, which is ridiculous. To burden of proof is always on the one who restores a material, never on the one who removes it.

Iftekharahmed96 is currently doing original research by saying interpretation that Novalogic is defunct simply on the rationales it isn’t listed on Nordic’s website and because its website hasn’t been updated since the acquisition of the video games catalogue in 2016 [3] I gave a warning for original research after he continued to edit war to restore the “Defunct” parameter without providing a source for such claim. Iftekharahmed96 has an history of adding original research on Wikipedia by misinterpreting the sources to draw his conclusions on things not mentioned in the sources. Therefore the original research warning is justified.

2)I gave a warning to Iftekharahmed96 for personal attacks for calling me lazy [4]

3) I gave Iftekharahmed96 a warning for edit warring for two reasons. First, he performed three reverts within 24 hour. (I only performed two reverts and left the article with Iftekharahmed96’s original research on it.) Secondly, because Iftekharahmed96 has indicated that he would continue to edit war on the article over and over [5] I’m quite surprised of such defiant response by someone who was blocked last August for edit warring.

4) I gave a final warning to Iftekharahmed96 for edit warring on a user talk page. [6]

5)I gave a warning of not assuming good faith to Namcokid47 after he commented on a situation he had no knowledge of and accused me of making nonsense edits to articles. Anybody is free to look at my edit history can see that my edits are no “nonsense”. And unlike to Namcokid47 and Iftekharahmed96, I always use edit summaries for my contributions except when it’s not possible to use one (eg: Articles for creation/Redirects). Namcokid47 even admitted in his own words that he had no idea about what was going on and that his only reason for his interference was to defend Iftekharahmed96 because he is in pretty good terms with him. 6) I gave a warning about personal warning to Namcokid47 for calling me an incompetent and other name-calling. [9]

Although I have chosen to not register an account, I am not a new user on Wikipedia. I have been editing Wikipedia on an occasional basis for years with rotating IP addresses that last between a couple of days to over a year depending on my internet service provider. I have a strong knowledge of the policies of this website. While I do believe Iftekharahmed96 wants the best for this project, there is some serious

WP:COMPETENCE issue with this user, both with his contributuons and his interaction with others to the point that I sometimes even question myself if Wikipedia is an hobby for him. A quick look at the history of his talk page will show that there is frequently arguments going on between him and other users. You cannot possibly be serious with this, right? Leaving fake warnings on my talk page that don't mean anything is a complete waste of time, and there is no rhyme or reason why you would even bother to do so. After some further digging through your contributions, you are really only doing this in order to make your edits look justified, when you have no sourcing or summaries of why it's correct, hence why they are removed. What you are doing is absurd and nonsensical and you completely know it. You can't just threaten to block someone that you barely even know just because you didn't agree with his edits. The more concerning question is your policing of that particular article. Rules on Wikipedia exist for a reason and thus have to be implemented in all articles, you can't say that Wikipedia formatting only applies to selected articles. And you know very well that the free use image and non-free use image is exactly the same, the only difference is that the non-free use one has the background removed. These policies should apply to all articles. Image usgage depends on attribution which you could habe easily read up on the guideline I linked. If a better quality image is available and suits free usage, the Commons image may be updated; just uploading it somewhere else under incorrect attribution and then blaming others does not aid Wikipedia. I haven't had the time yet to get to fix the articles you linked, but that's no reason to accuse me of anything. You may also fix them as well.

Hi there (msg), thanks for taking the opportunity to respond to me regarding this as oppose to outright reverting it. Ever since the division's inception, Marvel Games has always been a licensing label (like Disney Interactive), they're involved in all the video games based on Marvel Comics, but are not directly credited. In the introduction of the article, it states that the games published before the incorporation of Marvel Games was by Marvel Entertainment Group (the legal Marvel company before bankruptcy) and Marvel Enterprises/Marvel Entertainment (the legal Marvel company after bankruptcy). Marvel Games was incorporated in 2009 as shown by their Twitter account being activated then, alongside them talking about X-Men Origins: Wolverine as the first game they promoted on Twitter. Having separate articles is not only illogical because there's not enough citations to justify it, but there's too much overlap not for the two to merge. Hi there, thank you for your reply. I just realised you had answered, so please next time ping me. As you surely know, because of the way Wikipedia works, we can't afford to give credit to statement such as "they're involved in all the video games based on Marvel Comics, but are not directly credited". We either can source the credits, or source the fact that they weren't credited yet they were involved. That being said, I think that the real problem is that there a bunch of games in there, such as the Men in Black ones, that weren't published by either Marvel Studios, nor any other previous Marvel label. The way you titled the page, make it now mandatory for the listed games to have a linking with Marvel as a gaming publisher. So, we either get back to the previous title (in which games such as MIBs have a right to stay as somewhat based on Marvel comics) or we clean up the list with games clearly published within such labels. Hey there @Tanonero:, it would have been more appropriate for you to tag me in the talk page of Marvel Games and discuss about the article matter there. Anyway, if you go on the Twitter account for Marvel games, you can see that the account was created on March 2009. I used advanced search to see what the account was promoting and found that the account is actively promoting all Marvel games that came out from 2009 onwards. Here's the official website for Marvel Games (https://www.marvel.com/games) which as you can see, is the Games section of Marvel Entertainment. Unfortunately, there are not any third party sites that I can find that talk about Marvel Games as a legal entity, but Marvel themselves uses the division to promote all of their video games, as Marvel Games is Marvel's video game brand. I stress that we clean up the list based on the different Marvel labels, because Marvel has been directly involved with all of their video games, it just so happens that Marvel has been legally incorporated as different companies throughout the years.
