Improving Immunology Articles

Hi Liveste,

I am simply an editor who thinks some of the immunology articles on Wikipedia are far from complete and the quality can be easily improved. I'd love to do it all by myself, but it'd be even better to do it in a team, to be more efficient as well as to get a wider viewpoints (from the medical, molecular and cellular viewpoints for example). If you are interested, please go to here and just start editing. The purpose of the page (it's a new page) is simply to get everyone together and collaborate, as to ensure there's editors for different topics. I look forward to working with you soon, any help would be greatly appreciated. Kinkreet~♥moshi moshi♥~ 00:49, 6 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

WikiProject Wikify and the future of wikification

Hi! There is an ongoing proposal at the project talkpage concerning the future of wikification, including possible deprecation of the {{wikify}} template which is being discussed at Wikipedia:Templates for discussion/Log/2012 August 10. Your input would be greatly appreciated!

the word "cognisant" in article on Māori people On 19 May 2012 you added the following sentence to Māori people#Belief and religion:

Many stories from Māori mythology are cognisant with stories across the Pacific Ocean.

I believe you meant to use some other word than cognisant (which means "conscious", "aware", etc; and is nearly always followed by the preposition of – never, as far as I know, by with); but it's not obvious to me what word you should have used instead, so I'll leave it to you to make the change.

You need not respond to me about this unless you are certain that you did use the correct word, in which case I'd like to know what definition of cognisant you used and where you got it, because I can't find any that fits in that sentence. If you do respond, please do so here, so that the discussion stays in one place, and put {{Talkback|Liveste|the word "cognisant" in article on Māori people}} on my talk page.

Since this issue isn't really related to the content of the Māori people article but to your use of a word that I think is a mistake, this seems like the most appropriate place for it. Even if your use of cognisant is legitimate, you might want to choose a synonym that is less confusing to readers like me who are only familiar with its "aware [of]" meaning.

Thanks.

New Challenge for Oceania and Australia

Hi,

Wikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge which has currently produced over 2300 article improvements and creations. The Australia challenge would feed into the wider region one and potentially New Zealand could have a smaller challenge too. The main goal is content improvement, tackling stale old stubs and important content and improving sourcing/making more consistent but new articles are also welcome if sourced. I understand that this is a big goal for regular editors, especially being summertime where you are, but if you'd like to see large scale quality improvements happening for Oceania and Australia like The Africa Destubathon, which has produced over 1700 articles in 5 weeks, sign up on the page. The idea will be an ongoing national editathon/challenge for the region but fuelled by a series of contests to really get articles on every province and subject mass improved. The Africa contest scaled worldwide would naturally provide great benefits to Oceania countries, particularly Australia and attract new editors. I would like some support from existing editors here to get the Challenges off to a start with some articles to make doing a Destubathon worthwhile and potentially bring about hundreds of improvements in a few weeks through a contest! Cheers.♦ --MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 02:12, 24 November 2016 (UTC)[reply

WikiProject Wikify: Current Backlog Reduction Plan

Hey, I noticed you marked yourself as a member of WikiProject Wikify and you are currently listed as active. I was wondering if you would be able to assist with our current backlog reduction plan. While traditional drives are more structured month-long sprints by WikiProject Wikify members, there is currently lacking activity within the project and in order to significantly reduce the incredible backlog, members are encouraged to review all articles marked with the Underlinked Template Message - {{underlinked}} - a list of which can be found here - to analyze the worthiness of the template message on the given article. Articles that have nothing to link or are have had wikilinks sufficiently added should have the template removed to clear the backlog and make it easier for editors to find articles in genuine need of wikification. This can be done by any editor; however, all editors should consider joining if they haven't done so already. Thank you!

Māori history

Thank you for creating the Māori history article. The history section on the Māori people article was long and a split is justified. Are you able to trim that section to summarise the content you have now moved to the separate article? It doesn't seem practical to have duplicate information across two articles (a section and an article with near identical content). Perhaps the history section could be divided into two neat subsections, 'Pre-European contact' and 'post-colonial'? --Hazhk (talk) 18:38, 15 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Netball in the United States

Back in August, someone proposed a merge between Netball in the United States and a draft sitting in your userspace. There has been absolutely no discussion on the topic, and it doesn't look like that draft has been worked on recently. I don't know if you have any plans for the article, but I figured I'd let you know rather than my initial reaction, which was to remove the merge tag outright and move on. hewhoamareismyself 06:32, 20 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Google Code-In 2019 is coming - please mentor some documentation tasks!

Hello,

Google Code-In, Google-organized contest in which the Wikimedia Foundation participates, starts in a few weeks. This contest is about taking high school students into the world of opensource. I'm sending you this message because you recently edited a documentation page at the English Wikipedia.

I would like to ask you to take part in Google Code-In as a mentor. That would mean to prepare at least one task (it can be documentation related, or something else - the other categories are Code, Design, Quality Assurance and Outreach) for the participants, and help the student to complete it. Please sign up at the contest page and send us your Google account address to [email protected], so we can invite you in!

From my own experience, Google Code-In can be fun, you can make several new friends, attract new people to your wiki and make them part of your community.

If you have any questions, please let us know at [email protected].

Thank you!

Liveste, you opened the above review on October 24, put it on hold that day, and haven't edited on Wikipedia since.

The issues you raised have been addressed, and you were pinged on October 26, and again on December 1, in the hopes that you would return to continue the review (possibly to complete it, if there are no more issues to be addressed). I'm posting in the hopes that you see this on your talk page (in case pings aren't working); in the meantime, given your past editing patterns, where you stop editing for many months at a time, I'm going to request a second opinion/reviewer at the nomination page in case this is one of your extended absences. I hope to see you back soon. Thanks. BlueMoonset (talk) 20:58, 11 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on

section C1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the category has been empty for seven days or more and is not a disambiguation category, a category redirect, a featured topics category, under discussion at Categories for discussion
, or a project category that by its nature may become empty on occasion.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Liz Read! Invitation to an in-person meetup in Mohua / Golden Bay

Golden Bay Air are holding some seats for us until 21 November

Thinking about your summer break? Think about joining other Wikipedians and Wikimedians in Golden Bay / Mohua! Details are on the meetup page. There's heaps of interesting stuff to work on e.g. the oldest extant waka or New Zealand's oldest ongoing legal case. Or you may spend your time taking photos and then upload them.

Golden Bay is hard to get to and the airline flying into Tākaka uses small planes, so we are holding some seats from and to Wellington and we are offering attendees a $200 travel subsidy to help with costs.

Be in touch with Schwede66 if this event interests you and you'd like to discuss logistics. Schwede66 09:14, 13 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
