You have recently added information about Mazahua phonology to the article about the Mazahua language. I would like to know where you have your information from. I ask because it is in contradiction to other published material - such as the articles by Hazel Spotts and Doris Bartholomew. PArticularly they agree with the number of phonemes - since they count h and ʔ as separate phonemes and the phonemes that you describe as glottalized and aspirated as consonant clusters. However I know that a few weeks ago a new Authoritative book about Mazahua phonology by Michael Herbert Knapp Ring was published and I wonder if your information comes from that book which I haven't had a chance to see my self? Otherwise I think it would be in order to present Mazahua phonology in a more balanced manner taking into account the different interpretations.·Maunus· ·ƛ· 20:37, 20 June 2008 (UTC)
- The list of phonemes comes from Ian Maddieson's book Patterns of Sounds. It is footnoted in the text but when I was writing I was never sure where to put the footnote. luokehao
- Since Maddieson has not himself done any work on Mazahua I would be interested in knowing which source he uses for his Mazahua data. could you put a reference to his references here at the talk page, just for my curiosity? ·Maunus· ·ƛ· 15:43, 8 July 2008 (UTC)

At Talk:De facto, I have queried your close of the merger proposal. You merged the articles although most of the editors responding opposed the proposed merger. I believe that De jure should be restored as a separate article. JamesMLane t c 15:24, 8 July 2008 (UTC)

Without a specific citation, that simply looks like your own opinion, which of course would not be acceptable for Wikipedia. Bird nest
Hi Luokehao: I just wanted to let you know that I've reverted your edit to bird nest, because the reference you provided says that gull and tern chicks do leave their scrape nests! They do stay close however, so perhaps we can figure out some way to say they leave the nest but don't go far. Most raptors don't build a scrape nest, but those that do definitely do stay in the nest for a while, so you could change it from "most" to "all but scrape-nesting raptors" or something like that. Please feel free to make those changes! :) MeegsC | Talk 03:01, 7 March 2012 (UTC)

Hailar District et al.
You are probably aware that there generally are two methods to calculate the 24-hour average temperature: 1) Taking the arithmetic mean of the max and min (as done in the US and Canada). 2) Calculating an "integrated" sum, i.e. the average of each hourly temperature (as in East Asia). Even under the second method, Hailar, Inner Mongolia still falls under Dwb. That it was temporarily at subarctic is the doing of an IP that even claimed Harbin, which averages 23.0 °C in July, is subarctic! GotR ]

California climate
Greetings! I see from your user page that you're from Melbourne! A lovely place but far too far away from Northwestern California to understand the 1,000 microclimates of the area. While a page such as Humboldt County, California might benefit from sweeping generalizations about climate, each individual town in the region has particular climate features which are wiped out by the addition of climatology language which may be 100% textbook correct on a macroscale, but not correct on the microscale. As many regional editors have contributed to the local pages over the years, a good description of the regional microclimates have found their way into the project. I reverted your edits because - for one example - Ukiah cannot be compared to Eureka for weather. The two towns are 2 hours and 44 minutes away from each other by car at about 50 mph - about the same time to drive from Canberra to Sydney which of course are incomparable, too. Eureka and Ukiah are separated by several mountain ranges (which are about 80% as tall as Mount Kosciuszko) and their climate is in no way similar or comparable due not only to the great distance between them, but the variability of climate on the different sides of the mountains. Likewise other edits you made to towns in the region I reverted. I was unable to verify all the temperature information that you changed. Precipitation and snowfall information was in some towns completely wiped out or the values changed to the point where they just didn't contain the sense that they had contained before. I agree that some of your tables were prettier, but with the wrong temperatures, snowfall or precipitation, they had to go. Changing half of the converts from cm to mm also left some parts of the pages with half centimeters and half millimeters - both in the climate section! With so much confusion and so many data points massively changed the only safe course was to revert. Please take some time to be sure temperature, precipitation and snowfall data is correct before changing more pages up here. And please don't make sweeping generalizations about local microclimates based on some textbook definition from thousands of miles away. If you need help understanding the area before making more changes, please don't hesitate to ask. I'd be delighted to have "better" climate information for the towns, but it really has to be accurate. Ellin Beltz (talk) 21:43, 11 April 2013 (UTC)

Colour of weatherboxes
I have noticed that you are working hard with editing and fixing the climate data in many articles and I want to thank you for doing this. The climate section is one of the most under edited parts. However, there is a discussion going on about the colours used for the weatherboxes because a consensus is needed in order to determine which colours should be used in the weatherboxes. This is considering the fact that a large number of weatherboxes have non-standard colours (eg. green or pastel) and more outside opinion is required to reach a consensus and that some of these edits may be controverisal to other editors. Any comments would be welcome.

Hi. Ages back, you contributed some quite substantial expansions to articles on Lancashire cricketers such as Harry Dean and Willis Cuttell. Your excellent words have pretty much stood the test of time in these articles... but they rather lack citations. Like to NBA season articles
Thanks for updating links to the specific team season articles. It makes sense in an article about a particular season like your edit to 2011–12 Los Angeles Lakers season. However, is there a particular rationale for linking the, e.g. [[2011–12 Oklahoma City Thunder season|the Oklahoma City Thunder]] It's not a common practice in NBA articles currently. Regards.—Bagumba (talk) 00:08, 27 April 2016 (UTC)
Linking “the”
It is, to my mind, logical to link “the” if possible, although I know it is not normal practice. On the alternative web search applications Dictionary, words when clicked online to ordinary dictionary files, and this was my incentive for doing it originally as it could be annoying if one clicks in the wrong place. Moreover, since “the” is part of the noun phrase (“the Denver Nuggets”) it is reasonable to link it in my view, although I am well aware it is not possible to do it for ordinary linking purposes because the article has to be omitted in actual article titles.—luokehao, 00:28, 27 April 2016 (UTC)
- Consider WP:NOPIPE, which advises: "Avoid making links longer than necessary." Regards.—Bagumba (talk) 11:47, 27 April 2016 (UTC)]

Please read
NRL season articles
Hi, and thanks for your improvements to the above. I'm sure we both agree that the 2014 NRL season article's first sentence quite rightly reads as "...was the 107th season of..." rather than as "...was the one-hundred-and-seventh season of...". And I'm sure we both agree that the 1909 NSWRFL season's first sentence should read as "...was the second season of..." rather than as "...was the 2nd season of...". But where it appears we might disagree, is the point at which we change from words to numerals. I think we should switch to numerals once it moves onto two words, i.e. from the 21st ("twenty-first") onward. Thoughts?--Gibson Flying V (talk) 11:57, 13 August 2016 (UTC)
- I generally switch to numbers only with very large, exact numbers. With two digits I feel spelling out is much more elegant and aesthetic than numbers, and even with three digits I will frequently spell out, especially if such numbers are only a minority of the relevant class (as with NRL seasons or suras of the Qur’an) or there are two or one words (e.g. “one hundredth” is clearly preferable to “100th”). luokehao 23:47, 15 August 2016 (UTC)]

Yeats's tone deafness
Does your source actually suppose that Yeats's lacking mathematical and linguistic ability were due to his tone-deafness? AFAICT the only remotely relevant negitive correlation is one between amusia and tonal language in societies (and Yeats would not have been taking Mandarin at the Godlophin school). Presidential election county results
Hi! I've created hundreds of presidential election pages in the past few months, and I've noticed your fantastic work on several of those articles. I was just wondering if you could show me where you get the sources for the county result tables? I was thinking if I knew where you got the information, I would be able to possibly start adding some tables myself. Again, thank you massively for your work, it really improves the page and Wikipedia in general. Thanks, PCN02WPS 03:41, 31 December 2017 (UTC)

County results from 1880 to 1908
I'm wondering and curious where you found county election results from 1880 to 1908 for states like North Carolina, Tennessee and Kentucky. Perry County, Tennessee Election Information - Sources Needed
Good day! Waaaaaay back in 2017 you edited the page for Perry County, Tennessee to add some well detailed information on historical elections and its shift to the Republican Party in the early 21st century. Unfortunately, these edits were largely unsourced. I'm trying to get this article to GA standards and this stands out as the one major section of the article lacking in reliable sourcing. Would you be able to go in and provide the sources you used for the information you entered, in formatted in-line citations? Thank you! nf utvol (talk) 22:56, 7 September 2022 (UTC)

]Can you stop
I thing I have seen in the past several months is that you always mess up Infoboxes for Elections like Virginia for Example, you have the color for Wallace as being purple while the map shows orange, along with other changes (Like Eisenhower being an “Independent” in SC. And why do you do this? This only confuses people an why is one thing is another on the SAME PAGE. So I ask, can you just not? Qutlooker (talk) 03:31, 29 May 2023 (UTC)
- Hi Qutlook,
- the reason I do this is because I want to show each individual state’s party label for each candidate, even if they were:
- allied as an independent to a labelled party at the national level or
- allied as one party to another at the national level
- For instance, if you read America at the Polls, you will see regarding the 1952 election in South Carolina that:
“ | Republican total includes 158,289 Independent and 9,793 Republican votes | ” |
(page 399)
- Also, on Dave Leip’s U.S. Election Atlas, Eisenhower is listed as “Independent” in Mississippi, though not South Carolina.
- Re the 1968 Virginia presidential election, the colour for the American Independent Party on Wikipedia is purple, so I feel I was doing the right thing by changing the colour on the election site to the actual American Independent Party colour, not necessarily the colour used on the maps, which are more limited in their range if I am not mistaken. Luokehao (talk) 07:54, 30 May 2023 (UTC)
- Well, bottom line is that if you change the Color of a Party, then Change the Map too. Which aren’t limited in their range. So that it doesn’t confuse people and cause Conflicting info to spread. Qutlooker (talk) 14:13, 30 May 2023 (UTC)
Can you update formatting on other presidential election pages
There are other county results tables on some state presidential pages that still need to be updated like the ones in Connecticut, Delaware, Rhode Island and Massachusetts as well as the 1992 and 1996 pages for both West Virginia and Montana. Can you update more of those, you’ve been editing almost some of the same pages over and over again for the past few days. 174.207.38.178 (talk) 00:14, 7 June 2023 (UTC)
- Hi 174.207.38.178,
- I intend to update the presidential elections as I have done for states like Virginia, Kansas, Alabama and some others.
- It is my view that any state with fifty or more counties should have its county table made collapsible as it makes it easier to read. The threshold actually could be quite a bit lower than that. The outside equals signs in the section do however need to be removed to make sure that the benefits of a collapsible table are seen equally in mobile and in desktop views — a problem I am aware of from reading in both formats on my Mac and my mobile regularly.
