Proposed move of
The Treble (rugby league)

Hello, I was wondering if the page should perhaps be moved to "List of rugby teams which have won the Treble" since it is more about the teams and less about the actual concept. Relabelling will make the purpose of the article clearer. Also, it could use some sources. Nice article apart from that. Happy Squirrel (talk) 01:24, 7 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia and copyright

Control copyright icon Hello Northern Wonder, and welcome to Wikipedia. While we appreciate your contributing to Wikipedia, there are certain things you must keep in mind about using information from your sources to avoid copyright or plagiarism issues here.

  • You can only copy/translate a small amount of a source, and you must mark what you take as a direct quotation with double quotation marks (") and a cited source. You can read about this at Wikipedia:Non-free content in the sections on "text". See also Help:Referencing for beginners, for how to cite sources here.
  • Aside from limited quotation, you must put all information in your own words and structure, in proper paraphrase. Following the source's words too closely can create copyright problems, so it is not permitted here; see Wikipedia:Close paraphrasing. (There is a college-level introduction to paraphrase, with examples, hosted by the Online Writing Lab of Purdue.) Even when using your own words, you are still, however, asked to cite your sources to verify information and to demonstrate that the content is not original research.
  • Our primary policy on using copyrighted content is
    Wikipedia:Copy-paste
    .
  • If you own the copyright to the source you want to copy or are a designated agent, you may be able to license that text so that we can publish it here. However, there are steps that must be taken to verify that license before you do. See Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials.
  • In very rare cases (that is, for sources that are public domain or compatibly licensed), it may be possible to include greater portions of a source text. However, please seek help at the help desk before adding such content to the article. 99.9% of sources may not be added in this way, so it is necessary to seek confirmation first. If you do confirm that a source is public domain or compatibly licensed, you will still need to provide full attribution; see Wikipedia:Plagiarism for the steps you need to follow.
  • Also note that Wikipedia articles may not be copied or translated without attribution. If you want to copy or translate from another Wikipedia project or article, you can, but please follow the steps in Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia.

It's very important that contributors understand and follow these practices, as policy requires that people who persistently do not must be blocked from editing. If you have any questions about this, you are welcome to leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. Moonriddengirl (talk) 13:20, 2 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

The Bulls and a phoenix

There is no rush to create an article for a club who, as yet, don't exist or even have any guarantee will exist. Yes, the RFL will place a club in the Championship but it needs someone to come forward with the money and the plans to create a club from scratch. Once there is then we can report it and expand on it but don't jump the gun by assuming Smith will stay on a coach or even at this stage if they will play at Odsal. I'm not going to propose

Bradford RLFC for deletion as by the time any discussion is concluded there, hopefully, will be a club but don't expand it without things that have been confirmed, not just speculated on. Nthep (talk) 18:56, 4 January 2017 (UTC)[reply
]

Please stop jumping the gun. There is no guarantee that the new club will play under the name Bradford Bulls so moving the existing page is unnecessary at the moment. If they do decide to be the Bulls then we can have a discussion about how to disambiguate the two. Nthep (talk) 22:41, 13 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Proposed deletion of League 1 Wooden Spoon

Leeds Rhinos infobox

Hello again Northern. I've undone your last edit to

Ordering parameters in infoboxes

Hi, I see you made an edit to Template:Infobox rugby league football competition/testcases re-ordering some of the parameters inside the infobox. The order you enter them makes zero difference to the way they will display. To change the order they will display requires some rewriting of the infobox code. If you look at the code of Template:Infobox rugby league football competition/sandbox then you will see every parameter is handled by two lines called labelNN and dataNN, it's the numbering of those that determines the order of display so to move the promotion and relegation parameters up the infobox would need some careful renumbering of the label and data fields. Hello, Northern Wonder. I wanted to let you know that I’m proposing an article that you started, Rugby League International Calendar, for deletion because I don't think it meets our criteria for inclusion. If you don't want the article deleted:

  3. save the page

Also, be sure to explain why you think the article should be kept in your edit summary or on the article's talk page. If you don't do so, it may be deleted later anyway.

You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions.

Flags in European current templates

Hello there, I have been asked by another member of WPRL to widen the conversation on "Flags in European current templates", in the hope to gain a wider consensus. I imagine that this message may well never be read, dismissed, see me lose support, potentially gain some or take the discussion forwards. Please do take the time to read the discussion at Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject_Rugby_league#Flags_in_squad_templates if you can, but the crux of my position is that the flags are prevalent elsewhere, are consistent with usage by the MOS, and their implementation for their rugby league national squad/team or representative nationality, is in line with their intended purpose. The crux of the remove side would be an IP editor may interpret a flag as indication of birth, give too much credence to the nation, and the decision was made previously. To remove them from all rugby league templates when there is a limited conversation would seem more than a little unfair I would say, hence the attempt to reach out. I'm quite happy to voted down, but would appreciate a few more voices to the discussion, else it would seem quite wrong to move from the majority into the minority.Fleets (talk) 19:51, 13 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Notice

The article Super League wooden spoon winners has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Completely unreferenced and no evidence presented that the phrase Wooden Spoon is used in this competition let alone made to sound like an official title. The phrase is just fan and media jargon.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be

deleted for any of several reasons
.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. 1895 Cup

Two issues here.

  1. you cannot copy the content of Championship Cup over to a new article without attribution per Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia. To do as you did is a copyright violation.
  2. There are no reliable sources given that state that the 1895 Cup is a direct continuation of the Championship Cup. You are making a synthesis that because the competitions maybe open to the same clubs that one is a continuation of the other, that remains to be established as the entry criteria haven't been announced yet. Create and article on the 1895 Cup but don't unless you have sources that say otherwise make it out as the Championship Cup revived. Nthep (talk) 19:42, 13 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Deleted File:Leeds RLFC logo.jpeg as a copyright violation

I am an OTRS volunteer. The author of File:Leeds RLFC logo.jpeg contacted us claiming ownership, providing the original uncropped image, and saying that the photo was uploaded without permission. Therefore I have deleted it. Please do not claim the work of others as your own.

You have accumulated enough copyright-related warnings to warrant a permanent block on your account to prevent further similar disruption. I suggest you cease any activity that might remotely be considered a copyright violation, particularly when it comes to uploading images. Consider this a final warning. ~Anachronist (talk) 05:54, 14 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

League 1 (rugby league) -> RFL League 1

Please don't go creating unattributed copy pastes of existing pages. If you think the article should be title RFL League 1, which it probably should, then move the existing page or propose the move if you think it may be contentious. Super League Champions

I have put a note about this on the talk page but putting "N/A" for the league leaders shield is very misleading. We have notes explaing that in seasons 1 and 2 there was no Grand Final and league leaders were declared champions and that the shield was not awarded until 2003 and teams shown before that are the teams who would have won it. So saying a league leaders shield is not applicable for the first two seasons is hypocritical to these two points.

On a separate note, please refrain from removing Wakefield from the list of current teams until the season has finished. They are still a Super League side for the time being. Mn1548 (talk) 18:53, 16 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Do you not think a list of full time clubs in the Championship is useful information considering the majority of clubs are part time? Also clarification on how promotion works should be included? Mn1548 (talk) 19:00, 1 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I think a list of full time championship clubs would be more useful on individual championship season articles where you can go into more detail. League articles should be more of an overview and history of the league.
As for clarification on how promotion works info boxes are just an overview and you don’t need to go into detail on them. There is information on how P&R work in the history and structure sections in the articles Northern Wonder (talk) 21:22, 1 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

List of British rugby league league leaders

I have restored this pages to its original version. As previously discussed re Super League the List of British rugby league league leaders is a list of British rugby league leagues leaders, not a list of British rugby league leagues leaders but only when there was playoffs used. If you want to re add all regular season runners-up that is fine, but DO NOT remove league leaders that were declared champions due to the absence of playoffs. Template:2023 RFL Championship regular season table

why does it need status markers for teams that have been relegated when the table rows are already highlighted that they are relegated? Nthep (talk) 17:19, 15 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

All tables in soccer have them. I think we should follow their lead. Northern Wonder (talk) 19:07, 15 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
so you think marking them relegated and then marking them relegated again for good measure is necessary? Nthep (talk) 19:24, 15 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I really do not understand what's going on here. The scope of this list is CLEARLY DEFINED in the lead. You open a discussion on the talk page of the article to which I have responded to which you have ignored only to change the scope of the article again.

The article is simply a list of British rugby league league leaders, not a list of league leaders when rule X or format Y is in place, just a plain simple list of British rugby league leaders in all regular seasons, as suggested by the title and defined in lead, end of.

If you think the lead can better explain this then feel free to make edits, but DO NOT completely change the article. Especially if you're going to add hypocrisies and overcomplications like your last edits on that page. Mn1548 (talk) 23:25, 11 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Also, seperate articles exist for List of British rugby league champions and League Leaders' Shield. That information does not need to creep in here. League Leader information has been removed from both those two article and made seperate for a reason. Mn1548 (talk) 23:31, 11 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I don’t see the problem I added runners up to the article and then a list of clubs who have finished top but not won the League Championship. I did not remove any information that was already there Northern Wonder (talk) 12:16, 12 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I don't have a problem with including runners-up either. What I have a problem with is anything that states or implies when a team finished first in regular season during a year without playoffs that said team didn't finish first as they were also champions, which you also edited onto the page. Mn1548 (talk) 20:29, 12 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I still included the clubs who won the Championship I just thought it’d be useful to show a list of clubs who have finished first and not won the Championship Northern Wonder (talk) 21:49, 12 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
No, you altered the lead to "[a list of] team[s] finishing top of the league at the end of the regular season when a playoff system is used to crown the champions" whilst leaving all seasons where a playoff system wasn't used, making the list factually wrong. Plus, the bold/no bold on the list as it was and as it is now already distinguish this. A list of clubs who have been league leaders and not won could be a useful idea, but what you did wasn't that, or if it was in complete contradiction to the prose.
