Ottawa Macdonald-Cartier International Airport
Two things. First the format "display=inline|display=title" is incorrect and should be "display=inline, title". Check the box and notice the coordinates are missing. Second, the airport article is in Google Earth. In fact I have two of those purple dots, one for the airport and one for the airport station. There was a period when Google Earth had dropped all the airports using the "display=inline" however they later came back again. I know there was a discussion on this but I can't remember where. Is it all the airports that are missing when you use Google Earth or just that one? Try "69 06 29 N 105 08 18 W and 69°07′20″N 105°01′15″W and see if you get the airports for those. I know that neither of them have ever had the "display=title". Cheers. CambridgeBayWeather Have a gorilla 20:02, 22 March 2008 (UTC)
- I never even knew that was possible. Any other time someone has discussed it I always thought they were referring to Google Earth and the Wikipedia links that appeared in it, or for a time that didn't appear in it. After looking at the link you provided I notice that the two airports above, both in Cambridge Bay, don't appear either, and after a quick look it would appear that none of the other Arctic airports are there. And now that I have taken the time to scroll down the page linked from the coordinates I see how that is linked to and that Iqaluit appears but Iqaluit Airport does not. Is there a way for Google Maps to be opened with that information other than through Wikipedia? Oh, by they way it turns out that "display=inline, title" or "display=title, inline" is fine but "display=inline, title" will not work. My apologies if the first message sounded a bit aggressive as it appears I have much better verbal communication skills than written, as I have been told several times. Conclusion: Image placeholders centralized discussion
Hi. I'm sending this to you because you participated in the Centralized discussion on image placeholders that ended on 23 April.
That discussion must produce a conclusion.
We originally asked "Should the addition of this box [example right] be allowed? Does the placeholder system and graphic image need to be improved to satisfy policies and guidelines for inclusion? Is it appropriate to some kinds of biographies, but not to others?" (See introduction).
Conclusions to centralized discussions are either marked as 'policy', 'guideline', 'endorsed', 'rejected', 'no consensus', or 'no change' etc. We should now decide for this discussion.
Please read and approve or disapprove the section here: Conclusion --Kleinzach (talk) 10:49, 30 April 2008 (UTC)

Thanks for the heads-up. Much appreciated. I will take a look at that later today. Skeezix1000 (talk) 14:33, 7 May 2008 (UTC)
Hi Padraic, I've had a first stab add adding FUR's here, re-uploading the commons images to en:wiki here, and added a {{LAC}} template and category shadowing the commons stuff. Can you review that and advise me if I have a clue? I've also seen that there may be "pre-licensed" images for Olympians see here - is that relevant? And found some more FUR candidates, fr'instance the Venezuela Expo67 pavilion which may not be listed elsewhere.
This is all pretty confusing, what with the "Restrictions: nil" and "you can't do that" stuff, so your best advice is appreciated.
Also, looking here, at another Prime Minister, how do we get more permissions to use official portraits? Thanks for your help! Franamax (talk) 21:47, 11 May 2008 (UTC)

I've incorporated the info contained in several references originally on the talk page to the Canada article. I've recommended that if these hold, that the neutrality tag be lifted. New page for a Canadian Philosopher
Hi, I see you created the Joseph Heath page.
I wanted to suggest the creation of a page for another Canadian philosopher (Wayne Norman, a co-author of Heath's) who meets the Wikipedia criteria.
I can't create it myself, due to COI (he's a friend of mine). But I alsocan't figure out where to suggest someone else create the relevant page, and I'm very new to editing.
Can you point me in the right direction?
Thanks,

Boyd Conservation Area and IUCN
Hi Padraic. I was reviewing some articles about conservation and protected areas and noticed that you added an infobox to this article. Specifically, you added the IUCN Category II classification. I can't seem to find any reference to this - do you remember where you got it? I think that category only applies to national parks, but Boyd is only a provincial conservation area. Mindmatrix 14:43, 5 April 2009 (UTC)
- I've found the discussion you referred to at WikiProject Protected areas. Your question about category II was never answered, but I've since found the classification used by the WDPA, which lists Boyd as category V. It excludes other conservation areas, though, such as Cold Creek Conservation Area. Mindmatrix 15:12, 5 April 2009 (UTC)

Our mission is to assimilate into Wikipedia all the insights of an American law school education, by reducing hornbooks to footnotes.
- Each casebook will have a subpage.
- Over the course of a semester, each subpage will shift its focus to track the unfolding curriculum(s) for classes using that casebook around the country.
- It will also feature an extensive, hyperlinked "index" or "outline" to that casebook, pointing to pages, headers, or {{anchors}} in Wikipedia (example).
- Individual law schools can freely adapt our casebook outlines to the idiosyncratic curriculum devised by each individual professor.
- I'm encouraging law students around the country to create local chapters of the club I'm starting at my own law school, "Student WP:Hornbook Editors". Using WP:Hornbookas our headquarters, we're hoping to create a study group so inclusive that nobody will dare not join.
What you can do now:
- 1. Add Wikipedia:Hornbook/participants.
- 2. If you're a law student,
- Email http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/WP:Hornbook to your classmates, and tell them to do the same.
- Contact me directly via talk page or email about coordinating a chapter of "Student WP:Hornbook Editors" at your own school.
- (You don't have to start the club, or even be involved in it; just help direct me to someone who might.)
- 3. Introduce yourself to me. Law editors on Wikipedia are a scarce commodity. Do knock on my talk page if there's an article you'd like help on.
Regards,

Hello Padraic. I added some text to this page, based on an article that appeared in the Duluth newspaper over the weekend. I now see it likely was based on a press release from the Nature Conservancy, which I also cited. If there is a better way of integrating the information into the previous text, feel free to do so-- I thought the acquisition was an important and should be mentioned on the page, but have no "pride of authorship" in how it is presented. Copyright query
As our resident expert on Canadian copyright rules I wonder if you could evaluate an image. Are images like File:Harry Clarke - 1933.PNG are in the public domain? It was published in Canada in 1932 as an ad in the Toronto Star. Pre-1949 so it should be PD in Canada, and the advertisement has no copyright sign so it should also be PD in the US. My reading of the rules outlined at Template_talk:PD-Canada would indicate that it is public domain, but I am far from an expert in such things. It would be great if such images could be used, as many politicians from that era are missing photos. - SimonP (talk) 20:41, 25 November 2009 (UTC)

Andrew Potter entry
I happened to notice that reporter/editor from Sun Media Brian Lilley accuses fellow reporter Andrew Potter of writing his own Wikipedia article. This doesn't appear to be true as far as I can tell. Just some negative mud-slinging: http://blogs.canoe.ca/lilleyspad/cbc/andrewpotterdoesntknowsquat/
(And maybe beside the point, I notice that Sun Media's own entry, the original contributor has been banned from Wikipedia. Pot calling kettle?)
In any case, I bring this to your attention since it looks like you were the original contributor to the Andrew Potter entry, so I thought you'd want to know. (Bias alert: I'm no fan of either Sun Media or Andrew Potter, but I don't like accusations against Wikipedia). --Kathleen5454 13:57, 7 April 2011 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Kathleen5454 (talk • contribs)
