Glad that we came to an agreement. I don't know whether it is zapanuyem or zazhyvemo (in the pre-2003) version. The English wiki says zazhyvemo under pre-2003. The Chernobyl article is very compellingly written. I read it after watching a YouTube video, [Inside Chernobyl], of guys exploring the sarcophagus. The video and the article are clear enough to give nightmares. I adjusted the wording around the 40-second diesel generator startup. Pleasantries aside, allow me to note that contrary to your assertion, I am not participating in the RfC on your behavior. My sole involvement has been as a short comment on an "outside view" offered by user Alaexis. As can be seen here that comment has nothing to do with the matter of the RfC in question, and instead deals with the issue of references. As for Dukhnovych's place in the Ukrainian historical heritage, please see the entry below:

Sure, on those occasions when English references are unavailable, I utilize an alternative source in other languages. I think that this is a commonsense policy. This, however, does not negate the fact that English language references are much superior and prefered to non-English references - at least for usage on en.wiki. Now how do you go about doing it: for starters, take a look at WP:Awards, which has a neat selection of standard awards ranging from the Classic Barnstar to more specialized awards usually centered around WikiProjects. These are easy to use, since all you have to do is type the subst : name of the award | message of the award and don't forget to enclose with double brackets "{{ }}". Township may be one, and I would say, an accurate version to translate Містечко, however it can be translated in many ways. Take a look at this article: Administrative_divisions_of_Ukraine#General_scheme_of_administrative_subdivision. As far as population, is 1500 people large enough for a settlement to be described as a Town or is it just a big Village? No, public = anyone can see it, but says nothing about the licensing of an image. It's a nice picture, but I see that he has it as by-no$-copyleft, which makes it ineligible for us. If there is one licensed under "by" or "by-copyleft" then it would be o.k. No, I don't think you "heated up" enough in the first place for me to say "cool down". My purpose was to point out the fact that what is irritable is subjective. I agree that proper names should be used; the problem is establishing what these are. In the case of Kunis, the initial starting point of her being of Ukrainian heritage, therefore the patronimic must be -ivna, turned out to be incorrect after you did some research about her, and Kunis appears to be clueless about that part of the world. Hi, Riurik, sorry for delay in responce.. I see that the image that was uploaded by the user is now deleted due to lack of licence information. If you want to re-upload the other image from the Presidential website, just use it under the fairuse licence with a

non-free image rationale, because the president.gov.ua site now says "All rights reserved." which does not make it under the {{PD-UA-exempt

}} licence.

Holodomor lead picture

Any better idea that the boy currently in? My concern is that, as most of those photos were proven to be, this may be the 1920s image from the Nansen commission as well. I would also prefer to not have grisly pictures at all, if possible, just to preserve the article's readership. Malevich's painting is a possibility, while it is too allegoric and this is just one of the several interpretations. But I don't have any better ideas now. --Irpen 03:07, 31 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

It would be good to find a historical photograph from the time with more than one person in it for the lead. Malevich is good, but I don't think that should be the lead visual mostly because it is a painting. On the nature of grisly, we probably disagree. I don't see how an article on this subject can avoid grisly pictures, and I don't think that having such material will compromise readership on the subject. Having said that, these don't have to be the only pictures. For the lead, what about these: Image:Holodomor1.jpg (probably not) or Image:Holodomor - Harkivska oblast.jpg (a maybe). On grisly pictures, I can't accept them sorry. I don't run Wikipedia, of course, and I have to abide with what would otherwise be a consensus, but I consistently opposed the grisly picture irrespective of the POV, be it the tortured Kosmodemyanskaya in her article, murdered Polish children or this article.

The second picture you propose is not expressive enough for the lead, it is simply generic. This child's eyes relay the feeling no less than the image of a dead person. Maybe Joe will be nice enough to comment on that without outbursts. He has access to many pictures. Currently, I have no formed opinion except the generic image is no good and the grisly image is out of question. We can leave it as is for now. Hello. I recently

independence referendum. However, we can do more with the 1987-91 period. I'm not proposing anything concrete (the area isn't a specialty of mine, but I can contribute something), just putting out some ideas. We should definitely expand on the articles we have, especially Rukh. Once that's done, we might consider having an article tying it all together - "Late Soviet Ukraine", "Independence of Ukraine", something like that. Anyway, let me know what you think. Self promotion?

Hi. Im curious as to what you meant when you deleted an external link I added to the Holodomor page, saying it was "self promotion". First, I don't work for Russia Today and can't even imagine why you would think so. Second, the link is in complete compliance with

I was not trying to imply that you worked for any organization, but external links are quite often used for promotion purposes. Regardless, a plausible argument can be made that this specific linking is intended to promote RT, so in that sense it is imaginable.

Now about the issue, the link is not in compliance with wikipedia's NPOV policy, as it represents the view of that particular organization (see its youtube description page).
