Bradford City Hall

When I linked to the reference it said that the site at Hanby was one of two candidates for the DMV found in documentation. If more is now known, then by all means update it. I have found a source connecting Neuromance to its original title of "New Breed of Digital Fuckers"!!! With this bio page in addition to the other two sources, this seems sufficient to accept it for DYK. This source even states they changed the name in June 2005. Thanks for your help by the way, any challenge surely makes wikipedia better as a result. Project News

Welcome to the twenty fourth WikiProject Yorkshire monthly newsletter.

Thanks to the contributions of our many members and supporters, WP:YORKS has become a leading local British WikiProject in terms of the total number of articles supported (up from 7,987 last month to 8,063 on March 30th). In the area of GAs WP:YORKS at 52 is just behind
WP:GM
also has the lead in FAs at 44 out of a total number of 2,139 articles.

Currently we have eighteen Yorkshire featured articles:

Aims

After discussion at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Yorkshire in April 2008.
Specific aims for the project are:-

To complete tagging and assessment of all Yorkshire related articles (See below)

To recruit more active editors (See Member News)

To bring our top level article Yorkshire up to Featured article status

To bring all other top priority articles (currently 15 with 2 at FA) to at least Good article status

To set up a weekly or monthly selected article improvement drive (See this month's feature below)

To produce a regular news letter for circulation to members

and apropos of the above a 2010 New Year article improvement drive/collaboration is being organised.

Biographies of Living People

As a follow up to last month's feature on BLP articles a BOT is now creating project listings of those BLP articles that are tagged as totally unreferenced. The listing for our project can be found at Wikipedia:WikiProject Yorkshire/Unreferenced BLPs, I have added a link to this from the project side-bar for easy access to the listing. There are just five articles remaining on the list at the time of going to press, so well done.

General Election

The next General Election will be announced sometime during the month and so we need to concentrate our efforts on the articles relating to this. There are two main sets of articles relevant here, firstly the constituency articles and secondly the articles relating to the candidates that are standing for election. Taking the first group there are a number of boundary changes relating to the constituencies in the area that will be implemented at the time of the General Election. These changes need to be reflected into the settlement articles that are affected by the change. I would suggest that the settlement's history section is updated to include details of the former constituency when adding the new one so that information is not lost. All of the constituency articles will need to be kept up to date with the list of candidates that are standing for the election. Much of the basic work on this has been done but new candidates will emerge until the closing date for candidates to declare. Note that the order of candidates should be maintained in ballot paper order prior to the result being declared so that we do not favour any of the parties in the election. So even if A. Aardvark is standing for the "Lets do away with wiki" party then they should appear first regardless of if we support them or not.
On the second set of articles, those on candidates, we are back to issues relating to
NPOV
and to avoiding them, or their supporters, using wiki as an electioneering medium. We should be vigilant to remove anything that ventures into this area as quickly as possible. There may be articles for candidates who are standing that are not tagged for the project so it would be good for these to be tagged so we can keep an eye on them. It is also a good time to improve the articles on the candidates as they will no doubt get more hits during the election period. Those of you in the UK may also see some of the candidates out on the campaign trail and it would be good to get a photo for their article if possible. It does not have to be a Yorkshire related politician as there are lots of articles about politicians that needed photos or updates to dated images.

Barnstar thank you

Thank you for awarding me the Teamwork Barnstar. I greatly appreciate it, especially considering how we met under very unfortunate circumstances. I rarely get wound up tight like I was then. I don't understand why Halifax Town Hall didn't make the cut - it had brilliant hook that should have made sense internationally! The last two years everyone kept telling me that I was "in charge" of April Fool's Day DYKs. I just don't have the time to be as involved in Wikipedia like I was because I work full-time now. I'm really glad to see that worked out well. Seeing the amount of effort you put in each article i figured that it wouldn't receive any (Really) strong criticism or a quick-fail, but this went even better then even i anticipated. I see you already found the "X amount of Good article's" infobox so i can tell nothing new there, but perhaps you would like one display of these as well:

If you feel like adding it, all you have to do is go into edit mode and copy the code (Without the two Wiki tags) and add it to your page. Unfriendly unregistered user

This unregistered user has been editing arrogantly, then leaving arrogant summaries to match. He/she recently got at Halifax Town Hall and tried clumsily to copy-edit things he/she doesn't understand - probably not realising that this is Halifax, England and not Halifax U.S. Might be worth just putting this IP on the list to keep an eye on.--Storye book (talk) 00:12, 4 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

It seems that the edits were being made in good faith, but indeed - those edit summaries aren't exactly helpful nor friendly. It may well be that this user is an experienced editor who doesn't register / use an account on purpose, as in these cases history can be easily tracked (And so can incivility). By using an IP he or she can edit the way he/she likes without worrying about incivility warnings and the like. It is likely though that this user will not be on this IP for a very long time - only the 4 most expensive AT&T connections offer static IP's, whereas the rest of the subscriptions allocate them dynamically. It might be useful to keep an eye on it though, if only to drop a note on the edit summaries if this continues. Excirial^{(Contact me,Contribs)} 10:18, 4 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I've corrected the problem. The issue was that (1) I misread the source, and (2) I forgot to place the citation to ref name=inventory after the hook statement. I've added the source and corrected the text accordingly. As a matter of fact, the statement is true; if you're interested, look at the images in Land of the Cross-Tipped Churches and you'll see the difference between this church and the others.
