This is a collection of discussions on the deletion of articles related to Peru. It is one of many deletion lists coordinated by WikiProject Deletion sorting. Anyone can help maintain the list on this page.
- Adding a new AfD discussion
- Adding an AfD to this page does not add it to the main page at WP:AFD. Similarly, removing an AfD from this page does not remove it from the main page at WP:AFD. If you want to nominate an article for deletion, go through the process on that page before adding it to this page. To add a discussion to this page, follow these steps:
- Edit this page and add {{Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/PageName}} to the top of the list. Replace "PageName" with the relevant article name, i.e. the one on the existing AFD discussion. Also, indicate the title of the article in the edit summary as it is particularly helpful to add a link to the article in the edit summary. When you save the page, the discussion will automatically appear.
- You should also tag the AfD by adding {{subst:delsort|Peru|~~~~}} to it, which will inform editors that it has been listed here. You may place this tag above or below the nomination statement or at the end of the discussion thread.
- There are a few scripts and tools that can make this easier.
- Removing a closed AfD discussion
- Closed AfD discussions are automatically removed by a bot.
- Other types of discussions
- You can also add and remove other discussions (prod, CfD, TfD etc.) related to Peru. For the other XfD's, the process is the same as AfD (except {{Wikipedia:Miscellany for deletion/PageName}} is used for MFD and {{transclude xfd}} for the rest). For PRODs, adding a link with {{prodded}} will suffice.
- Further information
- For further information see Wikipedia's deletion policy and WP:AfD for general information about Articles for Deletion, including a list of article deletions sorted by day of nomination.
This list is also part of the larger list of deletion debates related to South America.

- Comment. I believe there may be a language / coverage issue, as this is English Wikipedia, and there are two or three English-speaking organizations within ICOR. I will look into it this week. Castroonthemoon (talk) 21:43, 24 June 2025 (UTC)
- Comment Most online sources I found were either non-independent or were not in-depth. The one book cited in the article was written by Stefan Engel, former chairman of the MLPD, a member organization of ICOR. Kovcszaln6 (talk) 08:19, 25 June 2025 (UTC)
- It's not looking good for significant coverage. Bearian (talk) 02:20, 26 June 2025 (UTC)
- Comment. I have looked into international reports on the organization. There's a surprising amount of information surrounding the group's involvement in Syria, and the hospital that the group built. Castroonthemoon (talk) 05:29, 26 June 2025 (UTC)
- I'm leaning towards Keep Castroonthemoon (talk) 05:30, 26 June 2025 (UTC)
- Unless Castroonthemoon can cite specific sources with significant coverage, I'm leaning delete. The only mention in Swiss media is [1]. Toadspike [Talk] 08:55, 26 June 2025 (UTC)
- Of the sources used in the article, I believe [2][3][4][5][6] satisfy requirements. Castroonthemoon (talk) 17:38, 27 June 2025 (UTC)
- The first one is a single-sentence passing mention: "Finally, anarchist volunteers organized another unit at the end of March 2017, the International Revolutionary People's Guerrilla Forces (IRPGF), declared as an "informal anarchist armed organization" whose purpose of armed struggle was placed beyond Kurdish issues, in a global perspective." (via Google Translate). The second link is exactly the same page as the first. The third is another single-sentence passing mention ("Hinter dem Projekt steht das linke Bündnis "Internationale Koordinierung revolutionärer Parteien und Organisationen" (ICOR), das um die marxistisch-leninistische Partei Deutschlands (MLPD) gebildet wurde.") The fourth consists entirely of quotes from someone who has been "supported" by ICOR, which is not independentcoverage. The fifth isn't independent either – it has no byline and is basically a call for donations by the head of ICOR, ending with their bank info.
- None of these sources satisfy the requirements of the ]
- In this case, I believe that the fact that they receive coverage satisfies notability requirements. It's a niche, political topic that isn't going to receive much coverage, especially by Western press, thus I believe that WP:IAR applies in this scenario. I don't think we will find a point of agreement on this, but I think that merging this article into the Marxist–Leninist Party of Germany article is worth considering, per my POC below. - Point of Consideration. I believe the article should be kept, but to those in-favor of deletion, I think there's a solid case to be made that the page should be merged with the Marxist–Leninist Party of Germany article, given that they seem to be the driving force behind most of the organizations actions and statements, as well as the fact that Stefan Engel (or his wife), the former chairman of MLPD, comes up almost everywhere ICOR does Castroonthemoon (talk) 17:43, 27 June 2025 (UTC)

This biographical article of a South American TV executive was created as a promo piece in 2008, and has become more and more promotional since then. Before I cleaned it up yesterday, it looked like this.
The existing sources are press releases. I am unable to find anything secondary that talks about Jurgensen – he is name-dropped a couple of times, but most search hits on his name in Spanish media are press releases. In English, it's all press releases.
It's worth mentioning that the corresponding article at es.wiki has been deleted five times for lack of notability and/or for being pure promotion. bonadea contributions talk 09:25, 24 June 2025 (UTC)

Not enough details - possible that his positions could be gratuitous. A search pulls up obits of a television employee by this name. — Maile (talk) 16:19, 24 June 2025 (UTC)

- Merge and redirect to Nicolás de Piérola if the source supports that he founded the party. I can't read Spanish nor can I translate the page you linked in the book. If the source doesn't support a merge and redirect, then delete. TheDeafWikipedian (talk) 19:57, 23 June 2025 (UTC)

- Here's a machine translation of the Spanish Wikipedia's description of this party in its article on Peru's Democratic Party at es:Partido Demócrata (Perú)#Fundación
After resigning the government in November 1881, Piérola left for Europe, but before that organized the bases of a national party in Lima, to unify the political forces of Peru (February 5, 1882). In addition to the founder, the Central Steering Committee of this party was composed of Antonio Arenas, Aurelio García y García, Rufino Torrico, José Antonio de Lavalle and Lino Alarco, and had as secretaries Manuel Pablo Olaechea, Ricardo Palma, Eduardo Villena and Arturo García. This National Party, of ephemeral duration, is the immediate antecedent of the Democratic Party."

- (edit conflict) Comment. I'm struggling to make sense of the sources, to the point that I can't even figure how many 19th-century Peruvian political parties were named the Partido Nacional. One source refers to a Partido Nacional from the 1870s that supported Mariano Ignacio Prado and was a "third way" between the Civilista Party and the supporters of Nicolás de Piérola (pg 160-161). A second source recognizes the Partido Nacional as opposing Piérola. A third source talks about the Partido Nacional being an important force in the 1870s, "imploding" after the War of the Pacific (pg 39), then giving rise to Piérola's Partido Demócrata (pg 47). A fourth source states that
A inicios de 1882, se fundó el Partido Nacional que reunía a diversas figuras del pierolismo
[At the beginning of 1882, the National Party was founded, which united diverse figures within Pierolismo]. This doesn't match up with the three aforementioned sources, but it does match the source presented by Chidgk1, which states that the Partido Nacional was founded in early 1882 by "elements close to Piérola". Maybe someone else would have better luck sorting this one out? PrinceTortoise (he/him • poke) 23:52, 23 June 2025 (UTC)- I machine-translated the link that Chidgk1 provided above. It discusses the machinations of various politicians aligned with Nicolás de Piérola and against the collaborationist Provisional President of Peru, Francisco García Calderón, during the Chilean occupation of Peru. The Spanish Wikipedia article I quoted above summarizes this paper's description of the Party pretty well - it was basically a collection of Piérola associates and "ephemeral" in duration. Not much of a real party, in other words.
- The paper is not about the National Party per se but rather the maneuvering. It could be used to maybe establish a weak notability. It's telling that the Spanish Wikipedia covers this period in detail but only mentions this National Party in passing. The party does not have an article.
- I suggest we redirect this article to Peruvian resistance movement in the War of the Pacific and merge the material I quoted above from the Spanish Wikipedia to a small, new section on political developments in the resistance article. - Redirect to Nicolás de Piérola. It's really not too much to ask for creators a 2001-style two line stub to give us ONE source. Redirection without prejudice to recreation if an expert on Peruvian political history wants to make a proper go of it. Carrite (talk) 17:27, 28 June 2025 (UTC)
