South West Coast Path

South West Coast Path has now been a stable GA for over a year, with recent additions particularly in relation to some places in Cornwall. Apart from a few sections without citations I was wondering what others think would be needed to achieve the Featured article criteria? Would anyone from this wikiproject be interested in working on getting the South West Coast Path article to FA? I've started a discussion on Talk:South West Coast Path and comments are probably best put there.— Rod talk 11:01, 2 February 2009 (UTC)

Ealdred (archbishop) and Tavistock Abbey

I'm trying to get Ealdred up to FA status, and need to nail down whether or not any of the ruins at Tavistock Abbey date from his time as abbot, which was about 1027 to 1046 or so. From the pictures I've seen, it would appear unlikely, they all have the pointed arch common to Gothic architecture, but I'd like to make sure. Anyone have any good leads to reliable sources that date the ruins? Ealdgyth - Talk 20:52, 4 February 2009 (UTC)

Coordinators' working group

Hi! I'd like to draw your attention to the new

WikiProject coordinators' working group
, an effort to bring both official and unofficial WikiProject coordinators together so that the projects can more easily develop consensus and collaborate. This group has been created after discussion regarding possible changes to the A-Class review system, and that may be one of the first things discussed by interested coordinators.

All designated project coordinators are invited to join this working group. If your project hasn't formally designated any editors as coordinators, but you are someone who regularly deals with coordination tasks in the project, please feel free to join as well. — Delievered by §hepBot (Disable) on behalf of the WikiProject coordinators' working group at 05:16, 28 February 2009 (UTC)

This is a notice to let you know about

fully-automated subscription-based news delivery system designed to notify WikiProjects and Taskforces when articles are entering Articles for deletion, Requests for comment, Peer review and other workflows (full list). The reports are updated on a daily basis, and provide brief summaries of what happened, with relevant links to discussion or results when possible. A certain degree of customization is available; WikiProjects and Taskforces can choose which workflows to include, have individual reports generated for each workflow, have deletion discussion transcluded on the reports, and so on. An example of a customized report can be found here
.

If you are already subscribed to Article Alerts, it is now easier to report bugs and request new features. We are also in the process of implementing a "news system", which would let projects know about ongoing discussions on a wikipedia-wide level, and other things of interest. The developers also note that some subscribing WikiProjects and Taskforces use the display=none parameter, but forget to give a link to their alert page. Your alert page should be located at "Wikipedia:PROJECT-OR-TASKFORCE-HOMEPAGE/Article alerts". Questions and feedback should be left at Wikipedia talk:Article alerts.

Why did you make this edit [1]? The alerts worked fine. I'm confused.

It doesn't appear to be displaying alerts, so I thought I was doing something wrong and therefore changed it. Jolly Ω Janner 23:53, 21 March 2009 (UTC)
It's set up fine. There's just nothing to report right now.

Bigbury parish split

At the moment,

St Ann's Chapel, which are both villages, redirect to Bigbury, which is a village and the collective parish for all of the villages. I think that Bigbury-on-Sea is notable enough to have its own article, not so sure about St Ann's, but it might be possible. If anything Bigbury-on-Sea is more notable than Bigbury-on-Land. BOS is probably notable (does having a Blue Flag beach count?), but I'm struggling to get any info abot St Ann's, beyond its having a post office and a pub. When a village doesn't have its own parish, information dries up. I suggest BOS as an article and St Anns as the current redirect.

Yeah, St Anne's is very small. Not sure why it has a Post Office. Jolly Ω Janner 17:58, 17 April 2009 (UTC)

Cullompton

I've been working on Cullompton for some time now and it is no longer start class IMHO but I'd be grateful if someone would give it a review and let me know what it now is. Any ideas for further improvement gratefully received (especially if you can provide references!)--NHSavage (talk) 07:27, 4 July 2009 (UTC)

I'd give it a B-Class. Needs two or three more paragraphs in the lead for improvement (that's just at first glance). Referencing is generaly good. Totnesmartin also assessed it as B-Class. Jolly Ω Janner 12:21, 19 July 2009 (UTC)

I would like to think that Cullompton is plodding its way to GA status now (it has undergone a lot of expansion and IMHO improvement since it was given B-Class). There are two major issues I want to address - one is the Citation needed tags in the Government section, and the other is the fact that I don't have page numbers for the use of the Second Book of Cullompton. I hope that a book I have on order from the library will help with the first, and I plan to do the second this week. Other than that I'd like people's opinion on whether it is a suitable candidate for GA submission.--NHSavage (talk) 12:19, 21 January 2012 (UTC)

I have just submitted it for GA review. We will see.--NHSavage (talk) 08:27, 4 February 2012 (UTC)
I have started the review, and was hoping someone might respond. There are some issues with referencing and grammer. Bob1960evens (talk) 12:23, 19 March 2012 (UTC)

Barnstaple - decontamination

There has recently been some quite comprehensive vandalism to the Barnstaple article in the past few days. Much had already been repaired, when I came across it, but I have also reinstated the section on Transport, which had been deleted completely. The whole article however, would probably benefit from a closer inspection by local experts to ensure all the damage has been repaired - some of the awards in "Britain in Bloom" look a little suspect, for example. Regards, Lynbarn (talk) 15:07, 12 September 2009 (UTC)

I'll add it to my watchlist and vigorously check any new edits. Cheers, Jolly Ω Janner 21:44, 29 October 2009 (UTC)

Can this be added to wiki project Devon? Only I'm not sure how these projects work...Fucking noob i am.--Frank Fontaine (talk) 21:11, 29 September 2009 (UTC)

Yes, of course! Usually any article that is located in Devon can be added to the WikiProject. People who were born, raised or are working in Devon can also be added to the project. Jolly Ω Janner 21:43, 29 October 2009 (UTC)

I started creating a navbox for the parishes of Devon, but I didn't expect it to be quite as big as it turned out. Do you think it would be better to use civil parish navboxes at the shire district level rather than one navbox for the entire county? (bare in mind that Devon is a rather large county). Could this somewhat large navbox still be used of value on articles? Or even as a navbox? (I mean, it collapses automatically anyway). Jolly Ω Janner 21:39, 29 October 2009 (UTC)

Pageview stats

After a recent request, I added WikiProject Devon to the list of projects to compile monthly pageview stats for. The data is the same used by http://stats.grok.se/en/ but the program is different, and includes the aggregate views from all redirects to each page. The stats are at Wikipedia:WikiProject Devon/Popular pages.

The page will be updated monthly with new data. The edits aren't marked as bot edits, so they will show up in watchlists. You can view more results, request a new project be added to the list, or request a configuration change for this project using the toolserver tool. If you have any comments or suggestions, please let me know. Thanks! Mr.Z-man 06:11, 1 November 2009 (UTC)

Excellent! Good to see that nine out of the 11 most-viewed articles are marked as "Top" importance. Jolly Ω Janner 15:34, 1 November 2009 (UTC)

Devon articles have been selected for the Wikipedia 0.8 release

Version 0.8 is a collection of Wikipedia articles selected by the Wikipedia 1.0 team for offline release on USB key, DVD and mobile phone. Articles were selected based on their assessed importance and quality, then article versions (revisionIDs) were chosen for trustworthiness (freedom from vandalism) using an adaptation of the WikiTrust algorithm.

We would like to ask you to review the Devon articles and revisionIDs we have chosen. Selected articles are marked with a diamond symbol (♦) to the right of each article, and this symbol links to the selected version of each article. If you believe we have included or excluded articles inappropriately, please contact us at Wikipedia talk:Version 0.8 with the details. You may wish to look at your WikiProject's articles with cleanup tags and try to improve any that need work; if you do, please give us the new revisionID at Wikipedia talk:Version 0.8. We would like to complete this consultation period by midnight UTC on Monday, October 11th.

We have greatly streamlined the process since the Version 0.7 release, so we aim to have the collection ready for distribution by the end of October, 2010. As a result, we are planning to distribute the collection much more widely, while continuing to work with groups such as One Laptop per Child and Wikipedia for Schools to extend the reach of Wikipedia worldwide. Please help us, with your WikiProject's feedback!

Flag of Plymouth

For you Janners, I've set up a stub for Flag of Plymouth using photos snatched on my phone last year (amazed no one has done it before). If the article survives the day, it would be good to have an svg file for the flag, plus a more artistic picture (see talk there). Woot Stevebritgimp (talk) 01:55, 23 September 2010 (UTC)

Dartmoor map

Hi, I've created a location map for Dartmoor (which can be used in related articles), see Template:Location map United Kingdom Dartmoor. Also started a draft map at Talk:Dartmoor#Location map to show the key features on the moors, would be helpful if people here can add what's needed :)--Nilfanion (talk) 11:01, 5 October 2010 (UTC)
