Wikipedia:Requests for history merge
This page is used for listing requests for
histmerge
}} template. This page should be used for requesting very complex merges, merges involving more than two pages, history merges of deleted pages, or when the use of the template is otherwise inadequate or where its usage would cause problems.
This page was originally for listing cut-and-paste moves which could not be repaired due to a then-extant technical limitation. The limitation has since been removed, but this page is still available if you find a cut-and-paste move, and are not able to repair it yourself (there is a
procedure for doing it, but only administrators
can do it, and it is a bit tricky!).
Administrators need to read
Wikipedia:Administrators' guide/Fixing cut-and-paste moves and Wikipedia:Requested moves/Closing instructions
.
The procedure
- If the issue is clear-cut (straight-forward cut-and-paste move(s) to a different title), place a
{{
template at the new location of the article which has been moved through cut and pasting, i.e. on the article where the pasting was done.histmerge|NAME OF PAGE THE ARTICLE WAS CUT FROM}} - In more complex cases (explained at Wikipedia:How to fix cut-and-paste moves), please leave a description of the problem under the "Repair requests" section. An administrator will look over the pages and perform whatever tasks are necessary and update the request.

- @Patriccck: The history-merging request put in page Sorry Not Sorry (The Simpsons) at 15:02 on 25 January 2021 by User:TheTVExpertseems to want me to:
- Transfer the year-2020 edits of page Draft:Sorry Not Sorry (The Simpsons) onto the start of the history of page Sorry Not Sorry (The Simpsons).
- Delete the two year-2020 edits of page Sorry Not Sorry (The Simpsons), because they are both redirect edits.
- And in general, to put back together the real editing histories of these two pages.
- But what has happened to these two pages seems to be far from a simple plain single copy-and-paste or cut-and-paste move. What has happened to these two pages? Some editors' names appear in both edit histories. (A diff is a way to compare the texts of two edits of a page. Each edit within this Wikipedia has its own ten-digit identity number.) I have examined several diffs of these two pages, including some cross-diffs of one edit of one page with one edit of another page. I can see plenty of evidence that portions of text were shuffled about within and between these 2 pages. There is much WP:Parallel histories between the year 2021 sections of these two edit histories. Please, what has been happening? What do you want to be done? - Transfer the year-2020 edits of page
- Within your last comment I fully agree, there is a rather convoluted set of parallel histories and I think it's best to just leave them as-is, turning the Draft into a redirect to the Article. Primefac (talk) 18:50, 26 January 2021 (UTC)
- @Primefac: Redirected as suggested by User:Primefac. Anthony Appleyard (talk) 22:03, 26 January 2021 (UTC)
I am requesting Draft:Spencer (film) to Spencer (film). It was deleted via G13 because it had 0 information that came out, so I left it to sit there and be deleted. Starzoner (talk) 15:29, 27 January 2021 (UTC)
- To the administrator who attends this request, please see this Bruno Rene Vargas (talk) 17:12, 27 January 2021 (UTC)
