My question - My log says I created User:Red Frog, although I did not. Can I remove it, and if I can't, will it have an effect on me in the future? Green caterpillar 19:42, 20 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Please put helpme requests on yout talk page ... and; Having two accounts isn't against the rules on its own. Someone may have logged in as you and created the other user (suprisingly similar usernames patterns), no it can't be removed (unless you have the account password and have it disabled). It may affect you if it is used as a sockpuppet to circumvent wikipedia rules. -- Wirelain 19:58, 20 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Short answer: no. Long answer: yes there is a 'right to dissapear' ... but that doesn't removed entries from your log, just completely hides your log from everyone, except admins. The only way i know is to completely stop using and lock the account, while getting a new one. You may want to ask in more detail at the
village pump. -- Wirelain 20:14, 20 June 2006 (UTC)[reply
]

AN/I question

I see the question has already been answered above, so I'm not sure why you decided to ask it again. The answer is the same. The account was created whilst logged in as this account so technically the account was created by "you". The effect is that everyone can see the account was created by you and it looks like you have two accounts, having two accounts is not against the rules, using those accounts to circumvent policy is. So say you both voted on a article for deletion it could like you were trying to get two votes. The connection cannot be removed from the log. Using the rename user facility won't remove the connection. The best thing to do is what has already been suggested, one of you should just log out and create a new account and never use the old account again. --pgk(talk) 07:02, 21 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I separated the article into two, the other being called

The two topics (pigments in art and manufacturing and biological pigments) really had nothing in common with each other except the basic definition of a pigment, and it was unwieldy to create an article around both topics. --Metzenberg 20:20, 19 July 2006 (UTC)[reply

List of beat 'em ups undeletion request

I have nominated List of beat 'em ups to be undeleted, under the reasoning that it is not redundant to the category; it contains many games which are not covered by the category, and may never be able to be covered by it. In addition, the list can do more than the category. It can put date, developer, release date, system, et al., useful especially for articles that would be difficult to create an article for. I hope that you will vote on this and hopefully support its undeletion, on the basis that it does something that makes it not redundant to the category. Re: Barnstar

Thanks! I voted keep on Hardy's AfD, so I figured I had a responsibility to make it an article worth keeping. Since I've exhausted all the sources, I've nominated it for GA Status. My GA reviewing history tells me that something's still a bit off about the article, but experience has taught me that, if the article is in decent shape, the GA reviewer is usually more helpful than a peer review. And I'm not so sure about the fair use rationale for the image. But we shall see. Anyhow, thanks again for the barnstar (and the class rating!) Cheers, CP 17:41, 15 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Help with a Bio article

Hello, Green Caterpillar! A while back you placed a "B-class" rating on an article that I contributed, Ilchi Lee. Since then, it has gotten the attention of some people that would like it to concentrate on certain rumors surrounding Lee. I think that is a bit inappropriate since it is a biography of a living person and the topic has not been covered well in reliable sources. One person expanded the "controversy" section enormously, relying heavily on rickross.com, Steve Hassan's site, and selectsmart.com. I am under the impression that these sorts of websites are not considered reliable. In other cases, he/she went far beyond the content of the sources used. For example, he/she cites court documents about a case, but the details he/she put in the article are not really there. (In fact, the documents show that the case was dismissed.) Anyway, I would really appreciate your help in monitoring this article, especially if you have good knowledge of policies regarding living people's biographies. A neutral observer woudl be very helpful. If you are too busy, maybe you can recommend someone.Nicola Cola (talk) 07:16, 28 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Selected Article: Indian Head Rock

There is a eight ton rock in Ohio that was removed from the Ohio River. This rock is known as the Indian Head Rock Dating back to the early 1800’s, this rock was seen sticking out of the Ohio River and used as a navigational mark for barges along the river. The names of citizens from the town of Portsmouth, Ohio are carved into the rock from the late nineteenth a early twentieth centuries. Some of the names were of well known families from Ohio. They would swim out to the rock, have their picture taken with it or simply carve their names into it.
With the advent of the Locks and Dams along the Ohio River, the rock eventually was submerged, but the legend lived on. A gentleman from Ironton, Ohio located the rock after searching a very long time for it, and he and a crew of scuba divers recovered the rock and took it to the shore to be donated to Ohio for historical value.
After hearing the news about the rock being removed, Kentucky introduced legislation against the removal of the rock. They also want the diver who found it to be prosecuted for removing the rock. Kentucky owns the greatest part of the land the river runs on. Even the Army Corp. of Engineers got involved as to how to move the rock without damaging it. Kentucky wants to have it returned to the river.

Hello. I looked over it again, and I saw I gave it B-class nearly two years ago. I looked at the page history, from about that time and I saw there was a red-link image, so the image was probably deleted after I gave it that rating. As for the "table", I think I meant to say infobox, which is one of the criteria of the assessment. brown edits.

You deleted the following with the tag NPOV

Brown is undoubtedly the most famous of a series of U.S. Supreme Court cases that dealt principally with the efforts of civil rights activists to promote the interests of the people they represented.

Which part of that do you see as POV. The first clause clearly is a simple statement of fact.

Brown IS the most famous civil rights case in the history of the US and if is the mose famous of the SERIES of cases which resulted in desegragation.

Ranking is not intrisically POV.

Or perhaps the problem you have is with the second clause which implies the MOTIVES of the people who brought the series of cases. Is there alternate wording you WOULD endorse or is it INTRINSICALLY pov? Rick Boatright (talk) 23:07, 5 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I reverted the edits of an anonymous user whose edits were bad quality (at least in the style sense) and unexplained (no edit summary). Being a C guy, I don't know if his edit is worthy in the technical sense. But given all the hints that it isn't, I prefer to stick with the version that already was in the article. -- Jorge Peixoto (talk) 20:42, 26 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not saying any particular user is right or wrong, and you're probably both trying to help out, but constant reversion is counterproductive. Discussion is much more productive. Also, we do have rules against this, like

WP:EW. So, yeah, just discuss first. It'll work out much better. :)

I am sorry. I assumed it was just an anonymous user who wouldn't take the effort of reading the talk page. But I see we did exaggerate in the edit war. -- Jorge Peixoto (talk) 20:58, 26 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Accidental posts on my talk page?

You left a 3RR warning on my talk page which was in error. Please be more careful with your posts. Thank you.LedRush (talk) 14:07, 3 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Please see your talk page. Green caterpillar (talk) 19:37, 3 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I would appreciate it if you were to assume good faith. When you accuse people of edit warring 3 days after their last edit on a page, and then make false accusations about disregarding that warning (I still haven't commented on that article) you are making it difficult to assume your good faith. If you really had an issue, it would have been nice for you to be more polite and to discuss it with me directly. I hope you can conduct yourself more maturely in the future, and if you have issues try to politely bring them up to me.LedRush (talk) 21:44, 3 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Please look carefully at the timing of edits and incidents before templating users. Although the editor in question had been involved in an edit war, it had been 3 days before. You may wish to visit the editor's talkpage to see the path your WQA entry (which by the way had nothing to do with civility) has taken.

How to guides and you/chocolate

It takes more than that to be a how-to guide. On that basis you could delete 'harvesting' for the same reason(!)

For it to be a how to involves more than that, it has to include all the practical details, and would normally need to be in the present tense. Merely talking about something in the abstract doesn't usually cut it.- (User) Wolfkeeper (Talk) 21:56, 12 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Re Talk:Lady and the Tramp

17-Oct-2008: The advice I made regarding mental problems was not about a "content dispute" but rather about actions and attitudes. It certainly was not a "personal attack" but rather an indication that behavior was off-balance. If you feel that Wikipedia policies are helping to promote mental illness (by couching terms as a "personal attack"), then perhaps you might help to revise those policies. I feel it is very unhealthy for Wikipedia, in any way, to disguise or hide problems of mental instability among the users. In fact, the exact opposite should be encouraged: help users to understand when their behavior is off-balance, so that they might seek the necessary help before it is too late. Couldn't Wikipedia be sued because policies concealed the facts about mentally unbalanced users as they slid into total psychosis? Please, this is not a subject that I take lightly. Every day, I expect another headline: "Wikipedia enthusiast shoots co-workers". Thank you for earnestly considering these grim issues. -Wikid77 (talk) 18:13, 17 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

  • 17-Oct-2008: Ok, I read your reply & understand that when I post a talk message, I am tasking Wikipedia to deliver that note as part of the effort. After re-reading WP:NPA about avoiding user-related issues in article talk, I have removed the health-related reply & replaced it with a very short reply focused more on the article, with no user recommendations, as follows:
17-Oct-2008: To User:C...: I am sorry that you didn't want to open a dialog about alternate ways to change this film article, but I will leave it alone for now and work on other articles. -22:09, 17 October 2008 (UTC)
Thanks for taking the time to explain the policy issues, which you accomplished with an amazingly short reply. -Wikid77 (talk) 22:23, 17 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Feudalism

Because your reasoning that there was somehow a "how-to" guide in there is ridiculous. Adam Bishop (talk) 11:30, 21 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Explain what? That there is no how-to guide in the feudalism article? What else can I say? Adam Bishop (talk) 01:01, 22 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

"Personal attacks"

Calling someone who vandalizes an article a vandal is not a personal attack, and obviously, vandalism is not a good faith edit. Laying out a laundry list of supposed personal attacks is also not assuming good faith, especially since the claims are ridiculous. If you bothered to investigate TheWinstonator's contributions, you'd find this edit where he claimed to be reverting vandalism, but actually removed content. Oh, the irony of that edit summary. Evidently, neither of you actually understand what I was doing. Is it really appropriate for you to be throwing around accusations willy nilly? You posted inflammatory garbage on my talkpage and didn't even bother to do any research beforehand. But who needs that, when posting warnings on someone's talk page increases your wiki-cred? --Pwnage8 (talk) 03:39, 13 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I always preview my edits before I save. I'm not sure what you mean by "your behaviour needs to stop". What are you talking about? I'm a trusted editor who gets along fine with people and does not tolerate disruption to articles. How can you justify not reverting the deliberate substitution of a red link for an article or the removal of an image from the infobox? --Pwnage8 (talk) 04:08, 13 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Are you going to comment on the Wikiquette alert like you said you would on RSW? Winstontalk 22:59, 13 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Collation edit

Thanks for the edit you made at collation, replacing my "should" with "is." I do more writing of user manuals than encyclopedia articles and need to remember to change hats when I come here. Matchups 03:13, 4 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Sorghum

Hi, I've reverted your edit to Sorghum (i.e. put the name back into italics). As it's being used as the scientific name of a genus, it should be italicised: [3]. For the first mention, this is also put in bold type, but the italics are kept: [4]. Feel free to get in touch if you disagree. Thanks, Thomas Kluyver (talk) 11:20, 4 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Undeletion request

A couple of years ago you deleted a page for a DJ group called CantMixWontMixShdntMixDontMix for lack of notoriety and for being of a 'local' nature. Incidently since then the group have grown and play all over the world and at world famous festivals such as Creamfields, i would request that their page get undeleted so I can add the appropriate sources for you. This is a quick copy & paste from various places about them for a quick confirmation.

“They created a proper party vibe to the festival and had the crowd begging for one more at the end.” - Creamfields 2008 (4clubbers.net)

"They've even got the name sorted: CantMixWontMixShdntMixDontMix. That name is as far from the truth as you can imagine - these guys know exactly what they're doing." - The Metro (Clubs feature Aug 2008)

“They had the whole tent heaving with bodies as they churned out the best tunes from all eras and musical genres.” - Standon Calling 2009 (efestivals.co.uk)

“The highlight’s definitely been dancing at 4am to CantMixWontMix whilst the sun comes up over Lake Malawi. It’s been brilliant.” - Lake of Stars 2009 (Emily from Vancouver on BBC World Service)

Obviously, i'll be supplying proper links to the sources in the actual article. This year they partnered with C.A.L.M to invterview various DJs who were at Creamfields, all the interviews can be found of the CALM website. How can I go about getting the page undeleted so I can work on it?

Incidently, a google search of them would have to be of CantMixWontMixShdntMixDontMix as well as CMWMSMDM, the latter name being a shortened version of their name that they use for obvious reasons.

Thanks in advance,
