Academic Paper on Linguistics, Pentcostalism, etc.
I'm really interested in getting more info about the academic paper you refer to in the page on Charles Fox Parham. Here's what you said in talk:
"I don't care enough about this topic to hunt out a WP:RS, but I have a well-referenced paper presented at an academic conference (on linguistics) that suggests that is the case. Rather than calling it "ridiculously POV", you might wish to consider that "truth is stranger than fiction"."
Do you have an interest in this particular area and hence more resources/links to check out? I would really appreciate that.

Cartwright Inquiry
Hi Limegreen. I noticed that you removed some content on the Cartwright Inquiry page. I am quite certain that it was never proven that over 30 women died as a result of the conservative treatment program at NWH. I don't have the time as of this moment but I will locate the references asap. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Rsdn (talk • contribs) 08:28, 31 August 2009 (UTC)

Hi - Thanks for the comment about the maps - I made up a dozen or so while I couldn't edit yesterday (most of them still to be uploaded). Baldwin Street
I'm more use to Wellington streets, which also have exceedingly poor design (it is quite common for a street to turn into steps before re-starting as a street again) as they were done from London. Chemical imbalance (theory)
Thanks for your message to me, which I'll quote.
I proposed that chemical imbalance theory be moved to chemical imbalance yesterday. If you look at the "What links here" [1] [2], you'll see that (currently) these pages are only referred to by pages relating to psychiatric issues."
- I didn't see your proposal, sorry to pre-empt. I may comment in the appropriate place, but my concern is that "chemical imbalance" does not exclusively apply to the brain. This only requires a short introductory paragraph, I THINK, as there may not be much to say about uncontroversial non-brain cases. "What links here" in Wikipedia today doesn't invalidate other usages.
Chemical imbalance is not used on either diabetes or ketoacidosis, and as far as I'm aware Type I diabetes is usually referred to as an "deficiency", rather than an "imbalance".
- I've come across the term in other contexts before. It IS used specifically for diabetes and ketoacidosis: see [2] and [3].
I'm not a great fan of chemical imbalance theory as it stands, but at the very least, I think referring to it as a theory gives it more weight than it is due. Anyway, you should make up your own mind on this matter. There is a vote at Talk:Chemical imbalance theory, and you may choose to Merge or Oppose, but I thought I'd let you know about this.
- My concern is more about not losing the general term in favour of the specifically neuroscience usage. I don't have enough expertise to jump in the detailed debate, though I'd bet on a 2-way interaction (neural changes and mental illness affect each other).
Best wishes, Pol098 00:18, 26 April 2006 (UTC)
Thanks for your response. We seem to be approaching consensus on "chemical imbalance" plus "chemical imbalance (mental health)". Best wishes, Pol098 09:59, 26 April 2006 (UTC)

While this is truly deeply unimportant, there were in fact three 727s, (see [9]). Have reverted your revert :-).
...and put back the latest deletion of historical fact on this page, again modified to remove any hint of pov and to provide a citation. Not meaning to start some sort of edit war, but I don't know what "weasel allegation" meant and the deleted material was, again, clearly factually accurate. I voted Labour, not National or ACT, but I am wary of being seen to pretend their criticisms don't exist or rewrite history to censor their views. Winstonwolfe 03:26, 7 July 2006 (UTC)
- Your new explanation is factually accurate. The previous version was NPOV (which is why I deleted it). See explanation at User talk:Winstonwolfe.--Limegreen 03:37, 7 July 2006 (UTC)
- Just to explain "weasel"... There's a clear difference between the original "Prime Minister Helen Clark replaced...", and your fresh edit. There was a sourcing problem, but in my mind more importantly, the previous version implied Clark herself had a vendetta against the airforce. Maybe she does, and maybe she did make the decision herself, but that would *really* need to be sourced. Your current version "The Labour government was criticized..." seems to be a far more accurate and NPOV than the former version.
- I don't consider this an edit-war at all. I've just been deleting whereas you've been fixing. I'm not doing this in an agenda-ist fashion. Cheers, --Limegreen 03:35, 7 July 2006 (UTC)

PsyD vs. PhD
First, I should state my bias and say that my wife is finishing her PhD in Clinical Psychology.
That having been said....
I think some distinctions need to be addressed regarding the difference between the PsyD and the PhD in Psychology.
Now, I think the point of the Doctor of Psychology article is to define the PsyD degree, which is a subset of all Clinical Psychologists with terminal degrees (i.e. PhD-level). It seems to be a little vague in drawing a clear contrast between the two.
Not sure where to begin, but I feel like being a little bold...

Hi there, just wanted to commend/praise/thank/whatever-you-want-to-call-it for your watchful eye on that NCEA article. It's comforting to know that there's someone like you onto it, reverting vandalism and POV edits. I've only just noticed that, while NCEA's spent the last couple of years improving and moving along, the article's stayed behind! One day, the article'll get a bit of an overhauling update, somehow. (I get lazy.) Whoops, getting sidetracked. Point is, thanks and well done for your efforts to keep the NCEA article from, well, losing shape, I guess. :-) (talk) Neonumbers 12:28, 17 December 2006 (UTC)
PsyD Part II
I can try, but I can only speculate in many cases. I would like to include material that can be verified and cited.
In the case of my wife, she has about 5000 hours of supervised clinical work. She is in her final year of her degree. Although my wife has a LOT more clinical hours than others, I THINK the average is in the range of 1000 to 2000 hours for her peers.
For some bearings, this is a rough sketch of my wife's education, as far as I can reckon:
1) First few years of PhD are classes and some clinical work at the schools facilities. 2) Middle year or two are more classes and some work in an approved and supervised externship, which is basically like an internship except you don't get paid. There are a set-up specifically for PhD AND PsyD candidates... but either can work at such a position. 3) Last year is an approved and supervised internship. There are miuch fewer of these and they are set-up specifically for PhD AND PsyD candidates. In fact, my wife is interviewing for one of these positions this morning. Again, it should be noted that she is competing with other PhDs AND PsyDs for these positions. Competing for these intership positions is akin to how MDs in the USA compete for residencys.
Since both PhDs and PsyDs need to be licenced and certified to practice (i.e. there is a common standard that must be met by both PhDs and PsyDs, the assertation that one is a better clinician than the other is bunk. What I am NOT mentioning, is that PsyDs tend to score LOWER on the national licensing exam as PhDs. I do not know what that means:
One disconcerting trend is that PsyD graduates do not perform as well as PhD graduates on the national licensing examination for psychologists (Kupfersmid & Fiala, 1991; McGaha & Minder, 1993; Yu et al., 1997). That is, doctoral students who graduate with PsyDs score lower, on average, than doctoral students who graduate with PhDs on the Examination for Professional Practice in Psychology (EPPP), the national licensing test. Higher EPPP scores have been reliably associated with smaller-sized clinical programs and larger faculty-to-student ratios, in addition to traditional PhD curricula.
This replicated difference probably applies more to the larger, freestanding PsyD programs than to the smaller, university-based PsyD programs. But the lesson is clear: smaller sized programs with proportionally more faculty are important factors to consider in selecting a doctoral program. [10]
Roodog2k 16:02, 18 December 2006 (UTC)
- Oh, to clarify what I think that you are asking... in the United States, there is a clinical component when getting a PhD in Clinical Psychology as there is with a PsyD. You have to have so many clinical hours to get your degree. I do not know what this is for my wife's univeristy.Roodog2k 18:27, 18 December 2006 (UTC)
Return of PhD vs. PsyD
Yeah, I think I see where your confusion lies...
a PhD is a PhD is a PhD here in the US too, but it kind of depends on what its in... I think that you are saying that there are two elements to being a PhD-level clinician in New Zealand... the academic element (PHD) and the clinical element (Dip.Clin.Psych). Look at Phillippa [11].
So, I see that at your Univeristy, the following requirements [12]. It seems to me that you can either pursue JUST the academic element of Psychology (PhD in Psychology), which includes research OR you can do BOTH Dimploma in Clinical Psychology, which requires at least academic study in Psychology at the Master of Science Level.
I may be competely wrong in drawing the following analogy, but here it goes... I think the Dip.Clin.Psych is like a PsyD without the academic element (i.e. concurrent MS or PHD). Roodog2k 19:44, 21 December 2006 (UTC)

Benjiwolf on Glyphosate page
Hi Limegreen,
I have been an editor on the Glyphosate page and basically doing battle with a user called Benjiwolf. This guy loves to come in an revert edits to his favorite text. I had made some edits on Glyphosate which he arbritrarily reverted recently. Then I noted that you had done some nice work on this page too this morning my time. And now this evening I note that with this [13] edit he has arbritarily and without any justification undone all your nice work.
This guy does this sort of crap all the time and I want to report this guy for disruptive editing.
I have been working a bit on the Glyphosate article and had requested citations be provided for some to the claims that suggest that Glyphosate is highly toxic. Benjiwolf performed this edit on this work on 5th Feb [[14]]. This reverted some work of mine to put some perspective on the Glyphosate toxicity and also deleted {{fact}} tags . After explaining my reasoning on the Talk page [15] I put the {{fact}} tags back in [16]
Then on 10th Feb Benjiwolf peforms this [17] edit which again deleted my request for citations. Benjiwolf cunningly disguises the deletion of my fact tags by calling this edit "revert to last edit feb 6 / 9:37 by ttguy"
I have asked for references to back up these claims on
I have pointed him to Wikipedia policy pages - eg on this [18] edit I mention Wikipedia:Verifiability.
Dispite all this he has just come back with this [[19]] edit which he has labled as "removing vandalism" . As you can see he has deleted good faith edits which attempt to put the toxicity of glyphosate in context and has again dropped off {{fact}} tags where we could reasonably expect a citation to provide verifiability of claims. This is really starting to cheese me off. There is no way the edit I made is vandalism.
I have looked at the page on dealing with disruptive editors Dealing with disruptive editors which recomends the following - and I think I am up to number 4. But I note that a Request for Comment on a user wants you to have tried to have more than one editor resolve the dispute on the Talk page.
So what I am asking is for you to try and talk some sense into the Benjiwolf person for me.
My feeling is it will do no good but it is worth a shot. He seems to generate a bit of heat where ever he goes this guy judging by other peoples gripes on his talk page.
- From Dealing with disruptive editors
- 1. Assume good faith. Do not attack the author whom you suspect is a crank. However, revert uncited or unencyclopedic material. Use an edit summary which describes the problem in non-inflammatory terms.
- 2. If editor unreverts.
- Post to talk page asking for discussion and/or sources. Revert again if no response, along with edit summary.
- 3. Problems continue.
- Attempt to engage new editor in dialog. Refer to policies and guidelines as appropriate.
- 4. Talk page discussion fails to resolve the problem.
- Request an Wikipedia:Requests for comment or other impartial dispute resolution.
Your help would be appreciated.

About a year ago, in this edit, you added a statement about the pronunciation of 'dance' in Australia and Southland, and gave as your source 'Bartlett (1992)'. I notice that the statement has been recently changed from Southland to South Australia. This may well also be correct, but as Bartlett is not listed elsewhere in the article, I cannot go back to your source to see exactly what you meant. Could you check the latest changes to the article, and also provide a fuller reference (author's full name and title of work). Thanks.-gadfium 18:29, 23 January 2008 (UTC)

Psychoactive drug - Thoric's chart is back
Hi, once upon a time you contributed to a discussion concerning a chart on the
Kea Audio invention
Dear Limegreen.
I stumbled over the article about my company Kea Audio (while googeling) and saw your comment about the deletion. I have indeed invented a new cone material and called it Polyepicell. I have not patented it because it is mostly useless to have a patent and it is also expensive. I am a very small manufacturer of top of the line speakers and cannot afford big expenses. The fact that my invention is not mentioned much is because: 1.) I have not time writing articles (I also have a fulltime job as technology teacher) 2.) I do not have the money to make big advertising to promote my speakers, so it is mainly word of mouth.
I do have a masters degree in Electronics/Acoustics however and wrote a paper about loudspeakers at the University of Berlin.
I noticed that you live in New Zealand as well. So you are most welcome either to write me an email (see my website loudspeaker.co.nz) or call me (again see my website for phone number) or visit me when you are in Nelson. You are most welcome and if you are really nice I will fix you a home roasted Cuban espresso (if you like)...
Hoping to hear from you cheers Joachim —Preceding unsigned comment added by Keaaudio (talk • contribs) 20:26, 27 January 2009 (UTC)

please include {{own}} in the relevant source field, amend the {{information}} added by a third party, ensuring that your user name (or name you want used for attribution) is clear in the author field, and change the license to an appropriate "self" variant (if such a license is not already used). You should also add an |author= parameter to the license tag, to assist reviews and image patrollers.

If media is not claimed, and there's no other obvious source or authorship information, the file may have to be removed for copyright reasons.

NZ election poll image
Since I know you're the updater for the NZ election poll chart, do you think adding the Stuff Nov 2019 poll and the Business NZ Reid research March 2019 poll would be necessary to the chart, too? The past three years saw a reduced number of polls so I thought it would be nice if they are okay adding it in. Thanks. Typhoon2013 (talk) 04:33, 21 May 2020 (UTC)
- @Typhoon2013:Stuff used to run a poll, but it was discontinued, so I don't see it as too contentious to add it. Though to the extent that there are 'house effects' (ie methodological differences etc specific to a polling company), that would add a bit of extra noise to the line. And given that Reid Research are included for a different client, that also seems contentious. The graphs just scrape the information from the table. So if the polls are included in the table, they will be picked up. If you do add them, important to set the poll-sort-date correctly, as that is what the graph relies on (usually the closing data of the polling period. I'm not on wikipedia so often (for editing at least), but I do read the NZ political news, which is why I'm usually aware of a new poll arrival. Best Limegreen (talk) 09:55, 21 May 2020 (UTC)
- Yeah both of those polls are added in the table and has been there since whoever putted that up there. And I do not know how to edit the graph, sorry. Typhoon2013 (talk) 10:08, 21 May 2020 (UTC)
- And for an extra note that One news has now released their recent poll, too. This election will be insane! Typhoon2013 (talk) 10:08, 21 May 2020 (UTC)

Invitation to an in-person meetup in Mohua / Golden Bay
Thinking about your summer break? Think about joining other Wikipedians and Wikimedians in Golden Bay / Mohua! Details are on the meetup page. There's heaps of interesting stuff to work on e.g. the oldest extant waka or New Zealand's oldest ongoing legal case. Or you may spend your time taking photos and then upload them.
Golden Bay is hard to get to and the airline flying into Tākaka uses small planes, so we are holding some seats from and to Wellington and we are offering attendees a $200 travel subsidy to help with costs.
Be in touch with Schwede66 if this event interests you and you'd like to discuss logistics. Schwede66 09:14, 13 November 2023 (UTC)
