I am still waiting to see if the DYK hook makes it to the main page, if that one doesn't there are at least three more alternatives. In the meanwhile, I uploaded an image of my own personal collection. I have been notified of a speedy deletion of a brief note I wrote with one El Nuevo Día source about Antonio Sagardía, Puerto Rico's new Attorney General. Virtually every other state Attorney General, as I commented in his discussion page, is considered notable enough to appear in Wikipedia, and Puerto Rico's Attorney General should not be singled out for deletion. Some sentences represent a stand-alone idea (not many) and I tend to leave those apart...but I'll merge a lot of them, as you suggested.

The Rainbow Coalition section had clear, chronological beats...each beat containing a separate event...so I conveyed those beats accordingly.

Tony, you are a great spirit. In my short time on Wikipedia, about 90% of the "edits" I've received are from people with a gripe or an agenda. Few of them simply want to help.

When moving boxes I found a book of letters by Betances compiled by Luis Bonafoux. The last letter in the book is a letter by Betances to Francisco Basora. Betances writes, "..hazte natural americano despues de la guerra...No hagas la boberia de irte a meter en una cosa que no ira nunca adonde nosotros espereramos. Mucho mas sensato es hacerte un buen lugar en Nueva York." Hi Tony- thanks for the note. Yep, I know about Juan II- I was referring to first native governor under US administration- sorry about that, was trying to do too many things at once and screwed up the text. I like the re-write you did on it much better. Only one glitch though, the section dealing with Pinero still mentions him as the first native Puerto Rican to hold the highest office (no qualification made).

Also, maybe you can clear something up for me. I've been asking this in the discussion sections, but apparently no one reads those things! Do you know of any logical reason why Rafael Hernandez Colon would not be considered the 4th and 6th governor of Puerto Rico? He was elected to two separate gubernatorial administrations. It makes no sense to me to list him as solely being the 4th. He doesn't remain the 4th elected governor even when serving after the 5th governor, Romero Barcelo! The precedent I am thinking of here is Grover Cleveland who, like Hernandez Colon, led two, separate administrations, and, as such, is identified as the 22nd and 24th President. • I understand what you said. The PR citizenship was created by the U.S to denied the protection and rights of the constitution to Puerto Ricans (it sounded better than noncitizen nationals). Mari Bras used the "Ciudadanía Nacional de Puerto Rico" to reaffirmed Puerto Rico's nationality . "Yo sostengo que esa cláusula (Ley Foraker), en su aplicación a Puerto Rico, no tiene fuerza legal hoy, ni en el Derecho Internacional ni en el Derecho Constitucional de Estados Unidos, y muchísimo menos en el Derecho Constitucional de Puerto Rico. Invocar esa cláusula como fuente de autoridad en el mundo contemporáneo es tan indecoroso como invocar una escritura de traspaso del título de propiedad de unos esclavos, hecha en el siglo diecinueve, para alegar tal título ahora sobre los descendientes de esos esclavos.", 1. The PR Supreme Court used the citizenship case to reaffirmed the legality of the Estado Libre Asociado (the first part of the ruling reads like a manifiesto popular saying things like "the power of E.L.A emana del pueblo and not the U.S constitution"). Mirian Ramirez de Ferer and the anexionista wanted to used the case to reaffirmed that the citizenship was merely a "ciudadania de domicilio" just like any U.S state. And finally Acevedo Vila and the PR Department of State maybe used the certificate to get the votes of the indepedestista. The fun never ends...

Now back to the Jones act. The only interesting thing I found in the case of Ferer v Bras is on page 30: "El Art. 5 de la Ley Jones, 39 Stat. 953, disponía que las personas que fuesen ciudadanos de Puerto Rico, según lo establecía la sección 7 de la Ley Foraker, quedaban declarados ciudadanos de Estados Unidos, pero que podían conservar su condición de ser sólo ciudadanos de Puerto Rico, si dentro de seis meses declaraban su intención, de no ser ciudadanos de Estados Unidos. Se le dio, pues, a los puertorriqueños en 1917 la opción de aceptar o no la ciudadanía americana." Now, my question, was this wishful thinking by the court or did Puerto Rican had a real option of not accepting the U.S citizenship in 1917? pd: I added your sentence and link about the Gonzalez case and the clarification about the Juan Mari Bras' argument. The article stills need clarification about the Jones Act.

Several observations about this interesting subject. I don't think that Ferrer vs Mari Bras is the definitive last word on this subject. Days before that opinion was published, then Gov. Rosselló signed into law a bill introduced by then Sen. MacClintock that reaffirmed the domiciliary nature, under the U.S. Constitution, of the Puerto Rican citizenship. Although lack of knowledge of a law does not excuse one from complying with it, the truth is that the justices did not really have any knowledge of that new law as their opinions were being released. Thus, there is no reference to a law, that may very well dispose of the issue, in the Court's opinions in Ferrer vs Mari Bras. Now, the bill's author is the new Secretary of State and, within a few weeks, the Court's 3-1 PDP majority will, for the first time in history, become a 3-out-of-7 minority! According to a radio news story I heard, MacClintock has continued issuing PR citizenship certificates, but has delegated signing them to his Deputy Secretary (very much in keeping with MacClintock's diplomatic way of dealing with issues---fulfilling his legal obligations without violating his personal convictions!). If a test case were filed to enjoin him from issuing future certificates, with his law and with PDP'ers about to be in the minority on the Court, who knows what will happen! Hi, Tony. I'm a History professor at the college level. Although I use Wikipedia a lot in the preparation of my classes, I'm no expert in posting new articles, although I would like to learn. María Cadilla de Martínez. What is wrong is the picture in the article, because it's a picture of Luisa Capetillo. He is has interesting story indeed. A working man that has the pantalones of going to the U.S representative to tell them that the Treaty of Paris was null. I can understand why the official history has forgotten him and Gonzalez but what I don't understand it's why his story is missing from the modern independence discourse. No wonder our people thinks that the indepedendistas are an elite group of Oxford and Harvard graduates that are not connected to the needs of the people. Current proposals and discussions A drive is underway to identify the core topics of World War I with the aim of improving their quality before the centenary of the start of World War I in 2014. A Survey is currently underway to determine how MilHist's processes, logistics, and management can be improved.

I have tried to find reliable sources but have only found probably one because both magazine articles I found were linked to their website.
I know the company is real, I found the coordinates for it, I have also found a Swedish Wikipedia article created in October 2006.

Sorry if it bothered you. I've been going around replacing some .gif images with superior .svg images; more specifically, File:Philpuc.gif with File:Presidential Unit Citation (Philippines).svg. When I saw both ribbons and streamers, it occurred to me that it was fiarily redundant... the same award depicted in two similar ways. Eventually, once I hack my way through all adding awards to as many american military bigraphies as I can, I'm going at add streamers to unit articles. But at the rate it's going, I might be a retired Master Gunnery Sergeant before I get to that! It's taken more than a month to clear out most of Category:United States Marine Corps generals... and I'm still in the names starting with S in that category! As the creator of Category:State cabinet secretaries of Puerto Rico, I agree with you and other commenting users that the category should be renamed. On the issue of which parent category it should be included in, I have proposed two possible solutions to that question. I was thinking, based on the comments in the GA, that perhpas we need to upgrade List of Puerto Ricans to include ancestry. This way we can link from all the immigration and ancestry articles to the List, without the need for outright inclusion in the articles. This would allow for increased article quality. I'm sorry about it.

First, the user DID mock someone warning him about civility.

Second, user DID ask for an unblock, and was reviewed to be ok. He abused the system by posting a second unblock request immediately afterwards.

Now, if someone tells you to be civil and then you make sarcastic remarks and mock the warner, you aren't showing signs of accepting the problem and you're acting incivilly. And since he mocked the warnign, he can't say he wasn't warned.

So I think you showed poor judgement, but it's your call and I won't do anything about it. Just consider the whole thing next time (like the unblock had just being reviewed and accepted, did you talk to previoues reviewer? ) -- m:drini 17:44, 18 February 2009 (UTC)

The community clearly disagrees with your appreciation of the events and the things that were said. Calling spades, spades has never been considered a problem - sarcasm is also not considered a problem. As demonstrations of uncivility go, this is incredibly tame and you went overboard with a 72 hour block. You just accused an editor of LYING (in all caps) and refuse to apologize. I agreed that I overeacted because I was frustrated. Netito thinks he can treat me informally, "A ver, muchacho" 1. Durero and Netito use sarcastic language to talk about my actions, (1), 2, without mentioning the conversation in the Puerto Rican campaign article (1). This is why I overreacted and I apologize. I respect that. I disagree that I did anything worth a block or even a friendly civility warning. I was blocked on spanish wiki for calling a user "muñequita" and then a sysop from there calls you "my dear" and I point out he has some nerve (¡Qué cara más dura!) and it is some nerve. And then I get blocked by a stwerad who says I cheered you up??? I am terribly connfused by all this, but it seems that drini is more so. Sorry for junking up your talkpage Marine 69-71. I wondered if you could take a look at the comments that drini left on my page and see if you believe them to be an accurate reflection of what I said, and my comments related to them. I am not trying to stir up drama, but if calling action penedejadas is the same thing as calling a user a pendejo,(which would be a personal attack) then I obviously don´t know the policy. It would seem that if that is so, then saying to cerrejota don´t lie is the same thing. AVI´s comments make it appear that admins have accepted drinis version and that I deserved some kind of block, and was let off for time served.
