Verbage is a term coined at either
winning a dispute despite lack of any real arguments. Please don't produce verbage — it won't be read, not on talk, and not in articles. Verbage undermines the process of reaching consensus

Another way to interpret this essay is that competence is required even with words. This may be appropriate if you are unable to clearly state your point, or consistently misunderstand others. Incoherence as an excuse to allow changing your position is disruptive.
