If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read

the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard

to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on

section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article or image appears to be a clear copyright infringement. This article or image appears to be a direct copy from http://www.umassmedcwm.org/correctionalhealthconference/news.htm. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing
.

If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. If you are not the owner of the external website or image but have permission from that owner, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission. You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by

  • Thank you for letting me know. Alas, the article itself was deleted two minutes later, and I was unable to address the alleged copyvio. I will raise this with User:Anthony Bradbury, as it was he who did the deletion. Edwardx (talk) 18:41, 30 January 2014 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of Voice of the Listener & Viewer

Hello Edwardx,

I wanted to let you know that I just tagged Voice of the Listener & Viewer for deletion, because it's too short to identify the subject of the article.

If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted and want more time to work on it, you can contest this deletion, but please don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.

Malcolm Quantrill's place of death

Many thanks for cleaning up the page on Malcolm Quantrill I just coined a few hours ago! I'm hoping to add more in the next day or two. However, you have removed the place of his death. I see the old system of placing place of birth and death on the first line is hardly in use these days. But without a picture, it does not yet seem worth adding an infobox. So where to place the fact he died in College Station) Texas? Seems such a simply stupid question - you've complicated it ;) --TTKK (talk) 19:33, 25 January 2014 (UTC)

Oops, didn't mean to complicate matters, but I can now see that I have. Yes, the
WP:MOS advises against birth and death place on the first line, unless it really is a defining factor in someone's life. So, I've added an infobox. A photo would be nice. Edwardx (talk

A barnstar for you

The Barnstar of National Merit
Thanks for creating so many articles about London pubs, and the exhaustive research that you have carried out in the process! Philafrenzy (talk) 22:57, 7 February 2014 (UTC)
this WikiAward was given by Philafrenzy (talk) 22:57, 7 February 2014 (UTC) on 7 February 2014

Yes, and thanks for the work on the Hare and Billet too. And here's a link to the viewstats tool. We should try it with a list of pubs to see which gets the most hits... Andrew (talk) 00:03, 10 February 2014 (UTC)

  • I'd just created "My favs" as a list of all the articles I've created, and now I'm wondering what article could be started that would be more popular than "Swiss passport". I'll think about a pubs list too. Edwardx (talk) 00:10, 10 February 2014 (UTC)

  • I've fixed the article - entirely straightforward and took less than five minutes. That would have been a better use of your time than starting an AfD. Edwardx (talk) 23:10, 28 February 2014 (UTC)

Feline-focused message of appreciation

Dear Edward, I'm afraid I'll have to wait until I am not at work to create my own award for you... in the meantime, I hope you'll be content with a small off-the-shelf cat. Thank you SO MUCH for your kindness and generosity and bags of help at last night's Wikipedia Edit-a-Thon at the Royal Society. I learned so much from you in such a short time, and you were incredibly kind and patient. I am determined to put the things you've taught me into practice... and I will have a nose around the many pages you've created (I see you like London pubs- have you been to the Pride of Spitalfields? It's well worth a visit!). I've looked at the German silent movie star's page, by the way - number one on your list - and smiled as I remembered your anecdote about WL:OVERLINKING! Thank you so much once again. Karen (9frm)

Your DYK nomination of The Flask, Highgate

Hi, the

maximum allowed length of a DYK hook is 200 characters, but the one you supplied is 220, excluding "(pictured)" which doesn't count. The hook will have to be edited or replaced with a shorter one. MANdARAX  XAЯAbИAM
23:53, 5 March 2014 (UTC)

Thank you for your kind guidance. I have rephrased the hook to fall under the 200 character limit. Edwardx (talk) 00:11, 6 March 2014 (UTC)
Yes, the length is fine now. And, as an added bonus, I think the hook reads better now too. MANdARAX  XAЯAbИAM 00:29, 6 March 2014 (UTC)
Agreed - the revised hook is definitely "hookier". Edwardx (talk) 01:00, 6 March 2014 (UTC)

FYI, I've just nominated the Upper Flask, which I came across while looking into this. We just need to get The Flask, Hampstead done too for a hat-trick! Philafrenzy has done good work getting that started but it needs another push to get it up DYK level too. I'll try to find some time for that myself tomorrow... Andrew (talk) 01:12, 6 March 2014 (UTC)

Andrew, it's all quite amusing - a trio of flasks. I'll endeavour to fit that into tomorrow's schedule too, for the final DYK. Edwardx (talk)
  • It's good to see it all come together. Thanks for getting the DYK done and I've gotten around to chipping in with what I have from London's Best Pubs - a book which I picked up to help with these topics. And so to bed... Andrew (talk) 23:58, 7 March 2014 (UTC)
  • 7 March was the 5 day deadline, and I just about managed to scrape enough together for the 1500 characters. Thank you for your contribution. Edwardx (talk) 09:55, 8 March 2014 (UTC)
