Wow. I'm SO delighted to see your name again. ^^ Wait, you're under a new name now. :) I must say, your new signature, combined with the old name inside the template, got me confused for a second. I guess I'm slow today. :) Hope your summer was exciting, and welcome back! I saw you already got back to the wiki-work, it is about time. :D Take care, --PeaceNT (talk) 05:39, 9 September 2008 (UTC)

Dubstep

thank you very much for protecting Dubstep. as you can probably see i'm trying to compromise with this guy, but he seems intent on imposing his thing in a lot of music articles. and his thing is mostly stub at present :( --Kaini (talk) 02:02, 8 October 2008 (UTC)

incidentally, would you care to comment on this storm in a teacup? I swear, two years of peaceful editing then a deluge of crap :~ --Kaini (talk) 02:11, 8 October 2008 (UTC)
cheers! that email address is defunct, so i won't get your mail. give me a day to activate my new email account, and re-send it? --Kaini (talk) 14:19, 8 October 2008 (UTC)

Thanks for the feedback

During my successful Rfa, you expressed concern about my report of

2009 time!

To a good 2008 and to an even better 2009. Happy New Year! Acalamari 23:39, 31 December 2008 (UTC)

Nice to see you around again. :) Best wishes. Acalamari 23:39, 31 December 2008 (UTC)

Vandalism

Some person with an IP address beginning with 81 vandalized the techno article by erasing notable artists and adding non-notable people. I'll see if I can revert it. Urabahn (talk) 18:14, 7 January 2009 (UTC)

Regarding your essay

Well said... I'm getting tired by the many non-vios reported there. I mean you expect false positives from the bots but the other reporters seem to be even worse... there's way less mistakes at AIV, even. I think something needs to be done because it's making UAA pretty useless as a page for intentional violations (what's the difference between

dubstep opening para

hey seckle/filelakeshoe... something i've spoken about with martin clark before - and that i am presently reconsidering - is the opening paragraph of the dubstep article. it could definitely use improvement. in a way it doesn't say much about what dubstep sounds like - instead, what it is busy doing is establishing notability, who coined the phrase, where the sound came from, and that sort of thing. here it is, broken down:

Dubstep is a genre of electronic music that has its roots in London's early 2000s UK garage scene.

this statement is fine - what this article is about, in a broad sense, and some context.

Musically, dubstep is distinguished by its dark mood, sparse rhythms, and emphasis on bass.

this could do with improvement - it's OK, i guess, and sort of explains the difference between, say, dubstep and psy-trance, but it could be a hell of a lot better.

Dubstep started to spread beyond small local scenes in late 2005 and early 2006, with many websites devoted to the genre appearing on the Internet and thus aiding the growth of the scene, such as dubstepforum, the download site Barefiles and blogs such as gutterbreakz.

this is where the problem becomes apparent - i'm reading this article for the first time. whilst things like sources, asserting notability, and the internet as a disseminating factor in the spread of the genre are undoubtedly important, a first-time reader of the article has no interest in this. his concerns are more along the line of "what is it?".

Simultaneously, the genre was receiving extensive coverage in music magazines such as

Pitchfork Media
, with a regular feature entitled The Month In: Grime/Dubstep.

same problem as before. i think i actually wrote this sentence :)

Interest in dubstep grew significantly after BBC Radio 1 DJ Mary Anne Hobbs started championing the genre, beginning with a show devoted to it (entitled "Dubstep Warz") in January 2006.

and again, same problem... notability paranoia..
it's now a big, stable article. there is plenty of space to include all this stuff. the opening paragraph should include more references to other musics, more descriptive stuff regarding what this music actually sounds like.

e.g.

House music is a style of electronic dance music that originated in Chicago, Illinois, USA in the late 1970s and early 1980s. It was initially popularized in mid-1980s discothèques catering to the African-American,[1] Latino,[1] and gay[1][2][3] communities, first in Chicago, then in New York City and Detroit. It eventually reached Europe before becoming infused in mainstream pop & dance music worldwide. House music is strongly influenced by elements of soul- and funk-infused varieties of disco. House music generally mimics disco's percussion, especially the use of a prominent bass drum on every beat, but may feature a prominent synthesizer bassline, electronic drums, electronic effects, funk and pop samples, and reverb- or delay-enhanced vocals.

Psychedelic rock is a style of rock music that is inspired or influenced by psychedelic culture, or attempts to replicate the mind-altering experiences of hallucinogenic drugs.[1] It emerged during the mid 1960s among garage and folk rock bands in Britain and the United States. Psychedelic rock bridged the transition from early blues-based rock to progressive rock, art rock, experimental rock and heavy metal; and also drew on non-Western sources such as Indian music's ragas and sitars.

Drum and bass (commonly abbreviated to d&b, DnB, dnb, d'n'b, drum n bass, drum & bass, dNb), also known as jungle, is a type of electronic dance music which emerged in the late 1980s. The genre is characterized by fast breakbeats (typically between 165–185 bpm, occasional variation is noted in older compositions), with heavy sub-bass lines. Drum and bass began as an offshoot of the United Kingdom rave scene of the very early 1990s. Over the first decade of its existence, the incorporation of elements from various musical genres lent to many permutations in its overall style.

before i make any big edits, i'm very open to suggestions on how to improve the lede of the article! --Kaini (talk) 23:35, 3 May 2009 (UTC)

hello !!filelakeshoe. i made a comment about the 1st paragraph rewrite on Kaini's talk. Have a look and thanks for connecting me to your ideas! :) Seckle (talk) 23:57, 4 May 2009 (UTC)

GA reassessment of Drum and bass

I have conducted a reassessment of the above article as part of the GA Sweeps process. I have found a large number of concerns which you can see at Talk:Drum and bass/GA1, and consequently have de-listed the article. Thanks. Jezhotwells (talk) 19:02, 19 July 2009 (UTC)

Thames Valley University

Hi there. Thanks for your recent edit to Template:Universities and colleges in London. Although Thames Valley University does have a campus in Ealing, London, most of the university (and its students) are based at sites in Slough and Reading in Berkshire. Therefore, as such, Thames Valley University is not a 'London' university. However it is listed in Template:Universities and colleges in South East England. I have reverted your (goodfaith) edit, but thanks. Bleaney (talk) 21:41, 28 September 2009 (UTC)

Actually, completely ignore what I have just said! On further investigation, it does appear that Thames Valley University sees its base in 'West london'. That is where the 'head office' is and where the vice chancellor is based etc, AND it markets itself as a London university. I stand corrected. I will put back your change! Starobrno

Hello Filelakeshoe. Thank you for the improvements of my imperfect English at this article. I wrote it after a funny excursion to the brewery with my friends, "co-drunks" from South Moravian villages. I created more articles related to

That was really fast, thank you for the improvements - the articles look more professional now. Sometimes I wonder how can I repeat the same mistakes over and over... I should rather stick with my en-2 :). You have to have nerves of iron to teach people with similar knowledge of English :) Přeji pěkný den! --

Apologies

for wasting your time with the Clean Energy Portal speedy problem. I really should have remebered to check the material was PD. Thanks,Acather96 (talk) 20:35, 22 June 2010 (UTC)

You declined the speedy at this article saying "information is not copyrighted". As the entire article appears to have been copied verbatim from http://www.nrcan.gc.ca/com/elements/issues/48/porta-eng.php?PHPSESSID=21b665d740237efd7f56b913db3a0bca and the Important Notices link explicitly states "The material on this site is covered by the provisions of the Copyright Act, by Canadian laws, policies, regulations and international agreements." Could you please further explain your reasoning? VernoWhitney (talk) 21:19, 22 June 2010 (UTC)

Hm, so Canadian government publication isn't PD then. Learn something new every day. Thanks for the heads up, article now deleted. - filelakeshoe 21:26, 22 June 2010 (UTC)
Okay, thanks. Should you want to learn more, it's Crown copyright. It's really only the US (and maybe some other country? I don't remember which) where federal works are automatically PD. VernoWhitney (talk) 00:53, 23 June 2010 (UTC)

Kvelertak

On Talk:Kvelertak, you wrote

Take it to AfD if it hurts your head. Even if you don't believe the assertions to notability, the fact that the assertions and references are there means this article isn't speediable.

Actually, the article, as it existed when you removed the speedy tag, makes no assertions of notability whatsoever. It merely states that they are a band who released an album. The references provided verify those facts: they are a band and they've released an album. The problem isn't that I don't believe their assertion of notability, but that no assertion of notability is made, and no references can be found that would help me improve the article to the point of making such an assertion. *sigh*

Would you like to restore that sandbox page you just deleted? I specifically restored it to his userspace so he could try to tone it down after I deleted it in mainspace. I realize its horrible now, and I don't have high hopes that he will make it not horrible but he did ask in good faith. Regards, Syrthiss (talk) 12:37, 27 April 2011 (UTC)

Done, sorry for the confusion - filelakeshoe 12:40, 27 April 2011 (UTC)
Np, I realized after you restored it that I had left the g11 so its my fault. Syrthiss (talk) 12:42, 27 April 2011 (UTC)

Pranic healing

Ahoj Filelake. I've restored the article.

Hi Antonín. That AfD included three articles, but fair enough, I got the feeling an "ancient science" which was considered non-notable in 2006 would definitely still be considered non-notable today. Alternative medicine topics are basically not allowed to have articles on Wikipedia unless there are a load of scientific journals slagging them off, the sources on that google books list would all be dismissed as unreliable/promotional/not independent. Don't get me wrong, this is the one thing I hate the most about Wikipedia, but that's how it is, and you're in for a Galileo-style lynching if you want to fight to keep this article, let me warn you! Good luck :) - filelakeshoe 13:03, 27 April 2011 (UTC)
I know nothing about Pranic healing and I'm not at all a fan of alternative medicine :) However, 3,600 results on G-Books and 880 000 G-hits suggest that this term is not entirely trivial and people might search for an explanation here on Wikipedia, no matter how unscientific the topic is. That's why I object. Also, the AfD took place 5 years ago and Wikipedia changed a lot from that time. I think this topic deserves another discussion about its suitability for this project. ... I'm not afraid of a lynch, the online lynching can't hurt me :) In any case, thanks for your warning. --

AfD

Hi there, You've declined a G11 I raised and advised taking it to AfD. I've been trying to figure out how! Please can you point me in the right direction? Thanks Tesspub (talk) 00:21, 28 April 2011 (UTC)

notewagon

I have changed the article on my user box and have ensured that it meets the notability guidelines. How do I change the Sandbox page into the Notewagon page now?

Hello! It took me about half the weekend busting my butt to learn all of the Wikipedia reference citation scripts and such, but I think I have improved vastly the article about 1313 Mockingbird Lane (band). Would you be nice enough to look at my new version and give me your advice about whether or not the article deserves to be restored? Thanks! Wacomshera (talk) 14:32, 31 May 2011 (UTC)
