The COVID adjustments made included

1. All winner's exemptions being extended by a season, and lengths of new exemptions being counted from 2021
2. Medical extensions being optionally reset after the break to what they had been at season start
3. Players not losing status for 2021

1. Winners of PGA Championship or U.S. Open prior to 1970 or in the last 10 calendar years (Beginning in 1998, this is a five-year exemption.)

After adjustments, Johnson and Thomas's exemptions extended to 2026; Johnson would move to cat 8 in 2024, while Thomas would move to cat 6 in 2024 and cat 10 in 2025. Collin Morikawa was promoted to this category after his win and earned an exemption through 2026.

2. Winners of the THE PLAYERS Championship in the last 10 calendar years. (Beginning In 1998, this is a five-year exemption.)

After adjustments, McIlroy and Simpson's exemptions extended to 2026; McIlroy would fall to cat 10 in 2026 and Simpson in 2025.

3. Winners of the Masters Tournament in the last 10 calendar years. (Beginning in 1998, this is a five-year exemption.)

After adjustments, Reed and Woods's exemptions extended to 2026, in which season Woods would fall to cat 10.

4. Winners of the British Open in the last 10 calendar years (1990-present). (Beginning In 1998, this is a five-year exemption.)

5. THE TOUR Championship winners in the last three years, beginning with the 1998 winner

6. Winners of World Golf Championship events, beginning in 1999 (a three-year exemption)

7. Winners of the Arnold Palmer Invitational, Memorial Tournament, and Genesis Invitational in the last three seasons and the current season

After adjustments, DeChambeau's exemption extended to 2026, and Leishman's to 2024. Adam Scott, Tyrrell Hatton, and Jon Rahm were promoted to this category after their wins and after adjustments earned exemptions through 2024.

8. The winner of the FedEx Cup in each of the last five calendar years

9. The leader in PGA TOUR official earnings in each of the last five calendar years (up to 2016)

10. Winners of PGA TOUR cosponsored or approved events (except team events) within the last two calendar years, or during the current year; winners receive an additional year of exemption for each additional win, up to five years.

Twelve players moved into this category during the season. Brendon Todd earned an exemption through 2024 (after adjustments) with two wins.

Kraft and Blixt received major medical extensions; all others landed in the reshuffle category for 2021, except Furyk, who used a top 25 career money exemption.

Wallace and Bjerregaard landed in the reshuffle for 2021.

21. Major Medical Extension

Berger met his terms in September. Hagy's extension expired in February and he fell to the reshuffle category, in which he remained in 2021. Choi's and Donald's expired in October and February, respectively, but both used their top 50 career money exemptions. Knost became a non-member after his expired in February. Martin's expired in January and he fell to conditional status.

Bronson Burgoon met the terms of his medical in September and was promoted to this category; he finished outside the top 125 and dropped back to the reshuffle category for 2021.

The remaining players, except Schwartzel and Hoffman, reset their extensions. Schwartzel met his terms in August, finished outside the top 125, and remained in the major medical category for 2021. The rest received carry-overs.

Hudson Swafford and Trey Mullinax were upgraded from minors. Swafford reset his extension and received a carry-over. Mullinax's expired in February and he became a non-member.

Those who finished outside the top 125 remained in this category for 2021; Campos also received a medical extension.

Burgoon met the terms of his medical in September and was promoted to the major medical category; he finished outside the top 125 and dropped back to this category for 2021.

Brandon Hagy fell to this category after his medical extension expired in February; he finished outside the top 125 and remained in this category for 2021.

Senden remained in the reshuffle for 2021.

Berganio used his last start at the regular-season finale; he finished outside the top 150 and became a non-member in 2021. Collins received a carry-over.

Knous was upgraded from a minor; he received a carry-over.

29. Minor Medical Extension

Swafford, Mullinax, and Knous were all upgraded to majors (in the reshuffle, for Knous). Swafford reset his and received a carry-over. Knous also received a carry-over. Mullinax's extension expired in February and he became a non-member.

Kim's extension expired in October and he became a non-member. Cink's expired in March, but he earned conditional status and fell to the conditional category. Mahan's expired in February and he fell to past champion status, then used a career money exemption for 2021. Lindheim used his up in August with Korn Ferry Tour starts. Harrington reset his and received a carry-over.

30. 126–150 from money list

Two players finished in the top 125. The rest remained in this category for 2021; Blaum also received a medical extension.

31. Non-exempt medical extension

Crane's extension expired in October and he fell to past champion status.

Ben Martin and Stewart Cink fell to conditional status after their medical extensions expired in January and March, respectively, and remained in the conditional category for 2021.
