The images in hemiacetal (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Hemiacetal_formation.png and http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Hemiketal_formation.png) have too many oxygen atoms. No water molecule is formed by the nucleophilic addition of an alcohol on a carbonyl group. Would it be possible to correct it? I don't know how to do it myself.

The chemistry project has discussed this theme extensively. There is little interest in inflicting obscure, cumbersome, and unused nomenclature rules on our readers. I realize that your intentions are good, but we have been over this point many times previously. I also discourage the creation of small categories. You can see (Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Chemicals#More overspecialized categories) that an effort is underway to clean up micro-categorization efforts by another editor. Yes, go ahead and include IUPAC in the chem box and it is fine to mention IUPAC names in the text. But unless IUPAC is widely used, these names should not be in section headers, names of categories, or any other place that forces readers to know this nomenclature. The most recent, fairly heated battle over this point can been seen with the log of User:Plasmic Physics. I remain slightly puzzled that you are not working more on content - how are compounds made, how do they react, their structures, etc. Those items are the heart of our project. What I was trying to say was that a focus on IUPAC and categories are essentially useless (or worse) activities as far as most editors and most readers are concerned. I would make a plea for content, meaty stuff like

• how compounds are made. often there are multiple lab methods and sometimes an industrial routes that have evolved over time.
• how they react, acid-base (pKa's), redox (potentials), attack by nucleophiles or electrophiles
• their structures (not drawings). Selected bond lengths and angles, symmetry group (often idealized).
• their main application and how such applications exploit something about the molecule/material
• general references to any of the above from textbooks.

Many of the most general articles are lacking core information, if you scroll down the following list (under the Chemistry project) you will find many important articles that are very weak: http://toolserver.org/%7Ealexz/pop/view.php

I dont think that there is any serious support for your editing of naming of compounds. The terms you are inflicting on readers are unfamiliar often to experienced chemists. Wikipedia is not bound to IUPAC, we do not work for them and we are under no expectation to follow their recommendations rigidly. For biochemical molecules, your work could be especially destructive. So, I recommend again that you stop. Dear Smokefoot, the IUPAC name that I changed in Coenzyme B is the PIN one. The one listed is not, nevertheless valid. I would say that O-phosphono-N-(7-sulfanylheptanoyl)-L-threonine is more informative (and correct) than 2-[(7-mercapto-1-oxoheptyl)amino]-3-phosphonooxybutanoic acid. I have also cross checked what I wrote with reliable sources (http://www.chemspider.com/Chemical-Structure.4575352.html). Also, I did not change the name of the article just the field in the infobox named IUPACName and that is all. I do not see your point of me trying to impose IUPAC nomencalture if I am just stating what the IUPAC name is at the designated place. May I suggest to include both? Hi. Concerning the {{Ion channels}} navbox template, I strongly advise against renumbering the groups within the template unless you have a very good reason for doing this. Every page that transcludes this template, the group is specified so that the appropriate subsection is open up if the navbox if the "show" button is hit. Yes, the pages are listed in the template. For example, all pages that transclude the {{Ion channels|g4}} template are listed under the group4/abbr4/list4 section of the previous version of the template. A more fundamental question is whether a separate "by transport mechanism" section is desirable or even necessary. All transporters have transport mechanisms. The primary criteria that distinguishes them is what they transport. Secondary criteria may include the gating mechanism (voltage, ligand, etc.), structure (porin vs. non-porins), where they are located (intra or intercellular, e.g., gap junction).

According to

WP:NAV, avoid repeating links to the same article within a template. This is especially true for Navboxes like {{Ion channels}} that include collapsible groups since it is only possible to specify a single group in a transcluded template. In short, I think it is important to agree on a single hierarchy within this template. The existing hierarchy has been to first divide by what the transporter transports. If the "other" section is getting too large, it might make sense to create new sections like water (aquaporins), proton, non-selective cation, anion, etc. What do you think? They do correspond to the Holdrian approximation (because it is at best only an approximation) of the justly-tuned major third, that is, to what the scale would be without key signature.

@Hucbald.SaintAmand: In the Arel-Ezgi-Uzdilek notation (https://www.w3.org/2019/03/smufl13/tables/arel-ezgi-uzdilek-aeu-accidentals.html) which I am familiar with and used in Ottoman music (i.e. Turkish/Greek music) (but not in Arabic music) the mirrored flat () refers to a Holdrian comma flat. You write "where denotes a Holdrian comma flat", but what is the meaning or "a Holdrian comma flat"? The distance between D and F is 13 Holdrian commas, and E is meant to be somewhere in the middle, i.e. at about 6.5 commas, in the middle of D and F – that is, half the minor third D–F. There is no reason to measure this interval in terms of Holdrian commas, (1) because Holder himself had no idea of this and (2) because this interval indeed cannot be measured in entire numbers of Holdrian commas.

The example of the Nihavend scale is even less understandable. If one considers the number of commas indicated, it would be formed exclusively of major whole tones (9 commas) and of semitones of 4 commas (chromatic semitones in just intonation, but here they are written as diatonic semitones). A Holdrian approximation of the just-intoned minor scale would have intervals of 8 5 9 8 5 9 9 commas, instead or 9 4 9 9 4 9 9. And the idea that "a medium second being somewhere in between 8 and 9 commas" makes little sense: 8 commas is a minor tone, 9 commas a major tone, and 8,5 commas therefore somehow a "mean tone". A semitone is either 4 of 5 commas, and a quarter tone therefore 2 or 2,5 commas. But Arabic or Ottoman music must be described in terms of three-quarter tones, not quarter tones, and three-quarter tones are somewhere between 4+2 = 6 and 5+2,5 = 7,5 commas.

I have no access at this point to Hassan Touma's book, and I'd like to see how he describes all this. I very strongly doubt that he starts from a Holdrian scale made of 53 equal commas. He more probably starts from just intonation scales, of which Holdrian commas give only approximations. An Arabic of Ottoman scale would better be described starting from a division of the octave in 106 half commas (or 24 quarter tones).

But you mention Turkish theorists whose works you may have read. I would be really interested to see how they describe the whole matter. It really puzzles me. Don't take the above as a criticism. I happen to know a lot about Western scales and tunings, and to have some idea about Arabic intonations. 1. Look for layers of this draw, with Layer|Layers... (or Shift+Ctrl+L). A panel is displayed at above-left.
2. In this panel, close the left "eyes" of "Text", "Arrows" and "Draw". Move to "Text to path" layer (click it).
3. Select all text. Delete it.
4. Open all "eyes" (or, optionally, and now only the "eye" of "Text" layer). Move to "Text" layer. "Normal" text is displayed,
5. Edit text to your language.
6. Also you can edit the arrows if it's needed.

Then it is all right, but....

For better visualization of text:

• Continuously:

1. Select (only) all text.
2. Duplicate it (Edit|Duplicate or Ctrl+D).
3. Move this duplicated text to above layer ("Text to path") with Layer|Move Selections to Layer Above (or Shift+Page Up).
4. Convert this duplicated text (now in "Text to path" layer) to path, with Path|Object to Path (or Shift+Ctrl+C).

• Finally:

1. Close the eye of "Text" layer.

After uploaded your new file, you must:

• In the draw page file:
  • Add in {{Information... block the next text |other versions={{Other versions/Cross section of an alveoli and capillaries showing diffusion of gases}}
  • Add {{inkscape}}

I believe that this font is loaded with LibreOffice. Then you can:

• Replace it for Arial font.

No, remember this draw uses layers and one of this layers is hidden ("Text" layer). You can look [2].

• "Text to path" is the name that I give to the above layer of this draw (look at the first 1. step).
• "Object to Path" is the name of the Inkscape command.

I've been looking at the Turkish makam page, which you seem to be the major contributor to. It is quite useful (although complex!) However, in the musical notation for individual makams (e.g. Rast), the intervals "B" and "T" are defined (in the Cargah diagram), but the intervals "S", "K" and "A" are not. Could these be added?
