WIRO/WITO

Something major got left out of your attempts to move these articles.

I think the only problem was the redirect on

WFHT (FM), and I found myself reaching a dead end because there was nothing in the WITO
article that explained the redirect.

So I attempted to solve the problem before I finally realized WIRO was no longer an AM station and therefore, there did not need to be a

WIRO-FM.— Vchimpanzee • talk • contributions

Oops! One of those stations has just been a game of call sign pinball in the last year, @Vchimpanzee. It's easy to miss a redirect when that happens! Sammi Brie (she/her • tc) 23:20, 2 September 2022 (UTC)
The first person to respond on User talk:Waystolie1000 did give me some valuable information as that station is making yet another change. It just so happens the announcement was today. All I was trying to do was make a joke about listening to WOKE Radio on a web site and the process of figuring out what I was going to say ended up ... way more complicated than I had imagined. But I've done some fixes as a result.— Vchimpanzee • talk • contributions • 23:35, 2 September 2022 (UTC)
@Vchimpanzee At least Strong Tower won't be making many major changes (aside from maybe changing the call letters one more time). That station has had a dizzying last few years. Sammi Brie (she/her • tc) 00:10, 3 September 2022 (UTC)
Would you be willing to bet on that? The last time the station played gospel music, it changed quickly to something else.
I thought of some more possible fixes that need to be made.— Vchimpanzee • talk • contributions • 15:36, 3 September 2022 (UTC)
If you need more fixes, let me know. Given all the changes, there are bound to be more errors than usual. Sammi Brie (she/her • tc) 17:43, 3 September 2022 (UTC)
I fixed one problem that didn't exist (of course
iHeart no longer owns it) but someone else found it.— Vchimpanzee • talk • contributions

For your efforts at Mail chute in a difficult situation. You are appreciated. Gusfriend (talk) 07:37, 14 September 2022 (UTC)
Thanks, @Gusfriend. The Coldwell situations are just...overwhelming. I'm seriously considering dropping my plans to rewrite Shelby Gem Factory and sufficing with adding some of the material I was going to port anyway—my rewrites do turn up new source material. I tend to be newspaper-heavy as a matter of course with my field, but I'm lucky to write in a topic where the major national trade journals are digitized full-run and most regional or larger U.S. papers unlock new areas and improvements. That isn't always the case. Sammi Brie (she/her • tc) 07:39, 14 September 2022 (UTC)
I agree on the overwhelming part. At this point I am working under the principle that little improvements along the way help. Keep up the good work. Gusfriend (talk) 07:45, 14 September 2022 (UTC)
Thanks. @Gusfriend As kind of an explainer, the top-to-bottom rewrite is done to avoid CCI issues. You will likely see lots of Coldwell pages be delisted or brought to GAR soon. Sammi Brie (she/her • tc) 08:28, 14 September 2022 (UTC)

WBFS

Hello, WBFS has returned to it's Independent status on September 19. On the My network TV you can see that Miami does not have an affiliate at the moment. I would also like to mention that it has removed all references to it's former programming. As for the CBS alternative, it airs CBS programming when WFOR is not available, including sports and weather. — Preceding unsigned comment added by J1577 (talkcontribs) 17:02, 23 September 2022 (UTC)

Infobox television channel

Hi, see Network 10. Due to the long channel names, the rest of the infobox is full of white space. I tried a nowrap on one of the affiliates, and that made everything look good/normal, except the channel section. Any solutions? MB 00:18, 22 September 2022 (UTC)

That infobox needs some material excised from it or converted to footnotes, @MB. The long channel descriptions and the long Affiliates list are causing issues. Sammi Brie (she/her • tc) 00:30, 22 September 2022 (UTC)

Questions on living-person info

Hi, you said I could write on your talk page if I had questions on a recent deletion of a change I made to Clayton Morris' page. I'm kind of a newbie at this, and will trust that you made the right decision. You also went the extra mile to browse the podcast and noted the pro-Russian content and "other mundane videos espousing conservative views". I would argue that those other videos are rarely mundane, they are typically conspiracy theory stuff on e.g. vaccines and other topics, and all that is also in line with Russian propaganda, because it picks up and platforms any idea that can divide and weaken us.

I did search for sources and will try some more, but the name "redacted" is quite general and makes it a bit hard. Meanwhile, here are my questions:
1. Would it be possible to elegantly exemplify to convey the same point? E.g. if I say that this podcast has furthered the Ukraine bioweapons lab conspiracy theory (linked to the wikipedia page on that conspiracy theory) and provide a link to the relevant podcast as citation (titled "Leaked documents show Ukraine has BIOWEAPONS labs funded by Biden administration"). And perhaps one or two more such examples. Would that fly?
2. Could I ask for, in the Morris' talk page, that we should keep an eye out for reliable sources that this is a Russian propaganda channel, with some examples of his podcast topics? Or would such content be thrown out of talk pages as well?
Thanks for any guidance.
JeppenX (talk) 14:52, 27 September 2022 (UTC)

Hi @JeppenX. They're crazy conspiracies, for sure. The thing is this: We need a reliable source—and, given the nature of the statement, preferably multiple of them—to talk about his channel and the disinformation it promotes. So far, that has not happened. We don't have, say, Ben Collins of NBC News discussing Redacted or an article in some other publication to fall back on. I mean, this stuff is downright awful—or, per several of their video titles, SH*T (samples: "Globalists in full panic over Italy as EU starts to collapse", "The WEF's plan to REMAKE Mexico, US, and Canada's borders EXPOSED!", "Bill Clinton and Blackrock team up to ACCELERATE the great reset", "Doctors EXPOSE college vaccine mandates with stunning data", "He's EXPOSING the most suppressed UFO and Alien evidence of all time", "Is China killing Uyghurs or is the UN full of Sh*t", "Did Putin Just OUTPLAY Everyone?", etc.).
You can, though, say something on the talk page. I do note that the reason I got involved with this article is because one of Clayton's employees is a disclosed paid editor. She proposed some edits (most of which I found acceptable for inclusion and incorporated, along with some other material I was able to locate). That's why I went looking at the various videos.
The main roadblock to characterizing what this is—disinformation and furthering conspiracies—is having reliable sources comment on it as such. Sammi Brie (she/her • tc) 19:45, 27 September 2022 (UTC)

I do have several other pages that could go to FA. KCPQ is probably next, and WSNS-TV I improved this year and think an FA is possible. WWJ-TV would be a co-nomination, but I can't bring it to FAC until they start their planned newscast later this year. Sammi Brie (she/her • tc) 17:56, 28 September 2022 (UTC)

Concerns about editing NYC Area Stations

I know I don't like to talk about this. I don't know even know if I feel this is the right things to talk about it. And given how instantly triggered I am to be angry on how my edits were reverted by people who don't want to discuss on making it better, I feel like I needed to talk. Look, I'm not angry at you. I know I have my criticisms at people who reverted at edits (and my defenses on my edits) and how I get bitter or upset at them (yes, I tend to be like an instant hothead), but I feel unsafe at editing any NYC Area TV/Radio Station, other that the small minor changes (like adding new anchors or programs that were added). I've tried to work on a few edits, but sometimes, there's people who would called the shots and killed off my edits, including the one that was important for it. I feel like editing there is nothing but truly toxic and depressing place for me to even step foot on them. I know I tried to be nice at all and will sometimes try to be collaborative (I even helped on a few pages, like on this

tech company from being deleted which I'm proud of doing what's right! :D) I felt like I'm being ignored, even if I feel like a newbie. I don't want to edit there anymore. I hate it. And as someone who edits at times and for a long period, I know how much I don't like things to turn into a Win-Lose mentality and just make things into a Win-Win. I wish there's a way, because the people there are not even nice, nor do I feel welcomed there anymore. This is why I'm wanting to quit editing here. (Also, forgot to mention, I don't want to harm nobody and I don't want to personal attack anyone (which I always avoid but I'm trying to keep my cool when trying to express my criticism on people's revisions), I feel it is an extremely difficult place to collaborate when people often go brazen and care nothing about improving with my input and giving good win-win collaboration, even with the most difficult editors) 20chances (talk

Hi @

) 23:14, 19 October 2022 (UTC)
@Sammi Brie: I apologize if it's super long. And yes, I think it has to do with WNYL (I know that station and it's in fact switching to all-news which sucks since I listen to Alternative Rock T_T). And no I don't have a Discord for Wikipedia (sorry about that). The Tweets I mentioned were in fact officially from the Station themselves but sadly he dismisses them claiming that it's "User Generated Content" when its directly from the station. I believe 1010 WINS has announced the time when they'll make the switch, too. Also, he didn't gave me a reason why he took down an edit on where the format is moving to, when I told him it's absolutely unnecessary to remove them since it was in good faith and it was needed. I honestly feel these editors who are too difficult to work with anyone (myself included) and I'm worried about them giving me a very hard time when they revert my good faith edits and it's making me wanting to stop editing at those stations. This is why it's making me feel update in the first place. 20chances (talk) 23:22, 19 October 2022 (UTC)
@20chances, you can join the Discord server, and it's fine.
WP:ABOUTSELF
supports your use of those tweets:

Self-published and questionable sources may be used as sources of information about themselves, usually in articles about themselves or their activities, without the self-published source requirement that they are published experts in the field, so long as:

  1. the material is neither unduly self-serving nor an exceptional claim;
  2. it does not involve claims about third parties;
  3. it does not involve claims about events not directly related to the source;
  4. there is no reasonable doubt as to its authenticity; and
  5. the article is not based primarily on such sources.

This policy also applies to material published by the subject on social networking websites such as Twitter, Tumblr, LinkedIn, Reddit, and Facebook.

I've taken the action of reverting the reversion. I'm also pinging BlueboyLINY so he can see my rationale for accepting that content. Sammi Brie (she/her • tc) 23:29, 19 October 2022 (UTC)

It's cool and I appreciate your help in defending me on my edits. I just can't understand why that user would do this. This is absolutely upsetting to me and to the contributions of the page itself. 20chances (talk) 23:35, 19 October 2022 (UTC)
I can understand why an editor might see "oh, Twitter" and go "unreliable source". This is about its only acceptable use. Sammi Brie (she/her • tc) 23:37, 19 October 2022 (UTC)
Right. I wish there could have been a better way, even to help people understand about what's acceptable use. I know I don't wanna turn things into a very sour note, even with editing wars. 20chances (talk) 23:41, 19 October 2022 (UTC)

There was a hatnote at WKQK saying WMEL redirected there, but WMEL was also used by WWBC. Recently, WMEL was turned into a dab. WWBC was not listed on the dab, so I added it (moving the hatnote). But then I checked and WMEL isn't mentioned in WWBC anymore. It was removed about a year ago by an IP who changed the radio format (unsourced) and removed other sourced content. Since you are the major contributor to this article, can you straighten it out. MB 18:05, 22 October 2022 (UTC)

@MB: Definitely something changed. Looks like the WMEL outfit ceased to be, maybe in 2018 even. WMEL is an appropriate title to dab... It gets confusing since they called themselves WMEL but moved around on several stations that were not WMEL. Sourcing is nonexistent, and I looked... I had to piece together stuff from Facebook, and there's not much. Station has next to no web presence whatsoever. Sammi Brie (she/her • tc) 18:20, 22 October 2022 (UTC)
I see you tweaked the WMEL dab a bit. But you didn't do anything in WWBC. If you don't want to add a mention back into that article, we should take it out of the dab, right? MB 02:51, 23 October 2022 (UTC)

Oh, and I just realized. If a username change doesn't register in the GA bot stats stack, other users might have missing review credits (A person from Georgia comes to mind immediately). Sammi Brie (she/her • tc) 18:03, 4 November 2022 (UTC)

I think this is now fixed. The new bot stats page is going to be User:ChristieBot/GA reviewing stats and it is writing it correctly now. I've put in a couple of other name changes where I saw nominators or reviewers with redirects to a new user page, since those are clearly not intended to be private, but in some cases users would prefer that name changes not be public, so I think from now on I'm only going to put them in on request. The underlying database will keep the old and new names, but it will report the stats for the combined name, if I've been notified about it. ESPN2 College Football Saturday Primetime

Hi. I've been going through

ESPN2 College Football Saturday Primetime. I would think that it doesn't satisfy notability guidelines, as I had a quick look but couldn't find any sources, but I thought I'd ask your opinion. ~~ AirshipJungleman29 (talk

Without even clicking on it, @AirshipJungleman29, merge it. As a college football fan, there is nothing that distinguishing about the Saturday night ESPN2 game. Sammi Brie (she/her • tc) 02:57, 14 November 2022 (UTC)
Wonderful. Many thanks. ~~ AirshipJungleman29 (talk) 03:00, 14 November 2022 (UTC)
