- Hi Moscowconnection, thanks for the reply! I believe these names "Chiimu Ee", "Chiimu Bii", "Chiimu Kee", "Chiimu Foo" are not well know and are actually romanization of alphabets into Japanese. Therefore, they should not be used as per guidelines. Also, about the sources, Tokyograph is not considered a reliable source, sadly. It can only be used when the original article is deleted. And about the Japanese part, Wikipedia allows foreign language sources. Therefore, even if most people cannot read, we still have to put in the most reliable source. Then we can up the grade of this article. Thanks!!--Lionratz (talk) 06:43, 1 July 2011 (UTC)

How to read Oricon pages?
Hi - I was hoping you might be able to shed some light on how to read
]- Search here, in the top left search box ("Search for: Artist Name" (アーティスト名が)).
- Example:
- If you search for the name Momoko Tsugunaga (嗣永桃子, with or without a space), you'll find this profile. The top 3 figures are the top ranks of her singles, albums and DVDs. She doesn't have neither solo singles nor solo albums that ranked, but she had a DVD at number 9. The 2 figures below are "TV appearances: 60" and "Commercials: --". Btw, the latter doesn't seem right cause her Japanese Wikipedia page lists a commercial for Pizza-La.
- How to find the DVD and many articles mentioning her:
- The folders below are:
- Digest (ダイジェスト)
- Profile (プロフィール)
- Profile (プロフィール)
- History (ヒストリー): TV appearances, releases featuring her, etc.
- News and Specials (ニュース一・特集): Articles on the Oricon website mentioning her
- News (ニュース一)
- Specials and Interviews (特集&インタビュー)]
- Rankings News (ランキングトピックス一)
- Works (作品)
- Rankings (ランキング)
- Singles (シングル)
- Albums (アルバム)
- DVDs
- What's interesting is that the DVD which reached number 9 was a 2010 concert by Berryz Kobo, the band she's in. Momoko also has solo DVDs. They are in the list. There are 3 solo DVDs that ranked 20, 32, and 58.
- Schedule (スケジュール): Schedule of her appearances

- I also search the net for news adding the parameters "site:oricon.co.jp", "site:natalie.mu", "site:excite.co.jp". And I like Yahoo Japan News Search. For example, the Yahoo Japan News Search for mentions of Momoko Tsugunaga results in a long list, which also includes reprints of the latest Oricon and Natalie articles.--talk) 23:29, 15 October 2011 (UTC)]

DOY Pages
Just wanted to take a moment and say thank you for trimming some of the births you put into the Days of the year pages yesterday. I or someone else would have eventually trimmed them to fit the page format. Just to let you know while I'm here, I undid 3 of your edits yesterday, 1 for being in the wrong date page (I only remember it was placed in August instead of April, date number was correct though, possibly 16), and 2 for having conflicting birth dates within the articles with no citations. I did trim 1 or 2 as I was flying to keep up with you :) Ken Tholke (talk) 13:25, 22 February 2012 (UTC)

Hi Moscowconnection, thanks for helping to improve Japan-related culture. You are right to say that I am not really a big fan of AKB48, since I haven't even attended one of their regular concerts in my country. Furthermore, I am a newbie to this group, so I have made many errors in my edits regarding them. On that note, thanks for pointing out these mistakes.
However, I would like to point out that articles have been ruined because fans of that particular topic spammed the article with too much fan-related information. I want to keep AKB48 articles free of this type of occurrence.
Lastly, I need some help to find more references. As you might have noticed, I have been adding {{citation needed}} tags to sections that lacks them. I am trying my best to avoid these tags, but I really do not know where to find more references. Can you help in this task? In addition, please try your best to include references for any new information that you may add. Cheers!--Lionratz (talk) 08:59, 24 April 2012 (UTC)

C-ute
There are too many sentences explaining how the hell the name is supposed to be written or read. There is nothing inherently wrong about the way I included the katakana because I have not done so in a way that is implying that it is written in Japanese by the katakana. I ahve included it as part of the pronunciation. Do we really need two sentences explaining "C-ute" is pronounced as the English word "Cute"? And why should Japanese text be omitted when you already have the Hepburn romanization on the page. This is getting out of "I disagree with the current formatting" and more "Stay away from my pages" with your reverts. This is particularly telling because you're the one who made that excessive exposition in the first place.—Ryulong (竜龙) 23:20, 5 May 2012 (UTC)

Hi Moscowconnection,
I've had a gander over at the article - looking impressive now. Importance scale at Talk:Natalie (website)
Moscowconnection,
Not sure if you know or not, but from what I gather the importance scales are suppose to be set at "low" and then it is up to the project to change them accordingly. A bot will notify the projects that this article has been added, and that they need to review the importance scale.
Alternatively, you could add {{DEFAULTSORT:Natalie (website}} and a bot will work out the scales for the project.
- If the importance is left unassessed, then the article will be listed as unassessed. Otherwise, no one from a project will simply come to assess it. For this particular article, it will be most probably set to Low for any non-Japanese projects, but still it doesn't seem right to decide fot them. AKB48
Thanks for your clarification! Oh, how else do you think we should improve the article from here on? I know that a lot of content is missing, but exactly what to include is still undefined. It really does not help that no other Japanese idol groups have articles that are ranked GA or above. Do you that that we should refer to K-pop groups that have released singles in Japan, just to use them as models, of course. And I am really sorry if I have added untrue or inaccurate information to the article. Happy editing.--Lionratz (talk) 12:47, 22 May 2012 (UTC)

Nogizaka46 controversy included in AKB48 article
Hi, I mentioned this on the AKB48 article's talk page the other day, but I thought I'd ask again here. What reason is there to include the information about Nogizaka46's choreography controversy on the article for AKB48? As far as I can see, it has no place there. It should be included on Nogizaka46's article, and possibly even Akimoto Yasushi's article, but it has no connection to AKB48. The controversy did not include the AKB48 group in any way, or include any AKB48 members. Could you clarify why you wish to include this information? Kaixa913 (talk) 07:35, 26 May 2012 (UTC)
- I wanted to leave the part because it makes the article better. It's recent, interesting, entertaining. We need to give people something to read, something to return to Wikipedia for. Also, it ends the otherwise dull "Controversies" section on a happier note. I know we will have to remove the info sooner or later. But hopefully I will expand and rewrite the section by then. If you think it's simply unacceptable having the info there, remove it from the article yourself. talk) 17:20, 26 May 2012 (UTC)]

Hi. When you recently edited Berryz Kobo discography, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page EP (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Please be aware that doing so is not only unnecessary, but undesirable and detrimental, for reasons as explained in the relevant guideline. About edit summaries
I just saw this. Please avoid edit summaries like: It's sourced. (You've just added an official source yourself, the birth days and months are there. How can you add a source without looking at it?, because it is a way to attack the other editor without giving them the chance to defend themselves. How can I reply to this accusation? By another lengthy edit summary? That is simply not sustainable. So please stop this practice. If you have any questions, the proper thing to do is open a discussion at the talkpage of the article concerned where I can have the chance to properly address your accusations. Thank you. - I was simply undoing your edit: Adding back the birth years, sourced from a giant Korean entertainment site. (Wherever they got them from, they published them where you replaced the existing citation: <ref name="2ne1jpprofile" /> with http://kids.daum.net/kids/do/fun/theme/themeView?id=381. So I thought that for you to say: Adding back the birth years... the old citation i.e. "<ref name="2ne1jpprofile" />" was not working, otherwise why bother adding another, unofficial, citation to replace the official one? Do you see my point? I also saw that your new citation had the words "kids" and "fun" in its url. This did not sound to me like a very reliable source. It actually sounded like kids' stuff, i.e. something completely unreliable. So I undid your edit and I put back the old reference, which was more reliable as it was from the official website of the group. Replacing a link about kids stuff with the older, more reliable link, is good practice, not vandalism. As far as erasing your edit summary, it can be done, but it is not that insulting, so I will not press the point further and I accept your explanation/apology. There is no problem. I left the same message at Drmies's talkpage
Hi MC. I saw your discussion with Drmies and left a comment there. I repeat it here for convenience:
- I have created a new section at Wikiproject Korea: K-pop articles coordination. It could serve as an initial coordination place for K-pop articles and as a central reference point where the problems they face as a group of articles could be centrally addressed. It could also be expanded into a different subpage, something like a K-pop working group. You are, of course, welcome to create any such new subpage if you think it is necessary. This subsection is just a proposed starting place. Δρ.Κ. λόγοςπράξις 17:52, 2 October 2012 (UTC)

Hey, M. About the pictures at Cuteness, from where I stand the discussion is pretty much concluded. Nevertheless, to avoid the appearance of rushing things along, I'd wait a couple more days (or make that a full week) before instating an edit request, unless you or someone else beats me to it.
Maybe you saw my last comment there. Imho, the Knut image doesn't add anything of true value to the article either, regardless of its acceptable sourcing. So, although the primary issue was the OR of the other images, maybe the best threshold would be to just not use any "pics of cute things"? Gangnam Style
I just want to begin by saying that I could've been more specific with my edit on the "Gangnam Style" page. But I don't get why a bunch of users think that I'm trying to start conflicts. RE: SPSI see that you've reverted my edit at talk) 02:28, 18 February 2013 (UTC) ]
This is exactly what happened, exactly. I read the source and saw that the sentence you wrote completely misinterpreted what Billboard wrote. Therefore I added a template. (I now see that you were the one who wrote it or, rather, completely changed in this edit: [5]. I didn't know it.) There are 2 issues with the sentence: misinterpretation and being in contradiction to other sources. Therefore I added 2 templates, 2 separate templates. You may not agree with the {{better source}} template, okay. But you shouldn't remove the {{failed verification}} template. (As for your claim that the {{better source}} template can't be placed cause other sources are "self-published", they aren't self-published. But Billboard is a good source, okay. I understand why you insist.) I didn't change the sentence myself exactly because I respect you contributions. -- talk) 03:02, 18 February 2013 (UTC) ]

Thanks for the feedback. To be honest, I know little information about Hello Project nowadays. I based the template off of its Japanese counterpart... well, somewhat. I guess we can put S/mileage under Current Groups. What do you think? And yeah, I actually find the template bulky with all the former/current subgroups as well. - Yes, that's why I deleted her. Because she hasn't released anything. She has been listed as a solo artist for a very long time now and nothing has happened. Also, there's only her, so she would look better in a section named something like "Other acts" (meaning "Current groups and solo artists"), together with Buono!, etc. By the way, where is she listed as a solo artist under Hello! Project? I don't even know. --talk) 23:39, 1 May 2013 (UTC)]

Your comments in the image discussion
Everything after "I don't really want to discuss any editor personally" is completely irrelevant (who cares what edits they've made on other wikis?) and inappropriate. I strongly usge you to delete that entire portion of your remarks. LadyofShalott 01:53, 13 May 2013 (UTC)
- I didn't like it when I wrote it and looked at the preview, but decided to post it cause, as you can see, the post I replied to starts with "Recently, the user Moscowconnection don't want to replace the main picture." and it's like it discusses me personally, like if I did something wrong. But sure, I deleted it immediately. As I said, I didn't think it looked good and appropriate myself. But I decided it was relevant to the discussion after all, cause the discussion was about me. --talk) 02:06, 13 May 2013 (UTC)]

New Pages
This may sound dumb, but how do I create a brand new page? Is there a short tutorial somewhere online I can glance at? I don't need or want to create a new page right now, but I may want to at some point in the future. I was thinking about fleshing out wiki's Japanese dramas/movies section (it's woefully lacking, asianwiki.com is much more thorough). Anyway, thanks for stopping by and saying hello! I'm just starting to get wiki figured out, you'll probably see me around. Oh, and don't be afraid to call me on my mistakes, you won't hurt my feelings. :) GrapperJ (talk) 06:49, 26 May 2013 (UTC)
- It's not dumb. :D I think "they" made it intentionally hard to find a way to do it.
First, you need to be logged in. Then, you need to find yourself at the address where you want to create a page.
I use Method 1, sometimes 2 or 3.- Search for something using the searchbox in the top right corner. For example, for "Fairies vs. Ninjas". Wikipedia will say «You may create the page "Fairies vs. Ninjas", but consider checking the search results below to see whether the topic is already covered.» Click on the red link "Fairies vs. Ninjas". An edit box will open.
- Or, you can just type "http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fairies_vs._Ninjas" or "http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fairies vs. Ninjas" in the address bar. You'll see a page saying «Wikipedia does not have an article with this exact name.» and there will be a "Create" button in a corner.
- Open any Wikipedia article, write "[[Fairies vs. Ninjas]]". Don't click "Save page", click the "Show preview" button. You'll see a red link to "Fairies vs. Ninjas". Click it and there will be the same page with a "Create" button as described in Method 2.
- This may come handy: Wikipedia:Starting an article.
- By the way, I'm not sure there aren't other ways to do it. Like, some button I have never seen. It would be funny if there actually was a button for creating a new page with any title and I didn't know it. --talk) 17:13, 26 May 2013 (UTC)]

AKB48 election table wording
Hiya, can you check the wording on the lead sentence for AKB48#Members, and make corrections onto the footnote if I interpreted the chart incorrectly? -AngusWOOF (talk) 16:26, 11 June 2013 (UTC)

- No worries. I'll paste it here:

-AngusWOOF (talk) 22:11, 11 June 2013 (UTC)
- They are not ranked either 1–64 or "x". Before, there a lower number of places to be filled at an election. Since it's just a footnote at the very bottom, I'll reword it now without looking. --talk) 00:16, 12 June 2013 (UTC)]

- I think it's a good idea to remove the single titles, leaving just the numbers. Especially since the first track is the title track. But I'm against removing the numbers cause I think it's important to group all the videos like that. And surely, if some song is not listed as a song by a team of a subgroup/unit, it's not necessary to repeat "AKB48, AKB48" every time. It's okay to add a notes section, but I think we should try to write just one comment for every single and use a lots of <br />s to make the table narrower. --talk) 16:57, 18 October 2013 (UTC)]
- I've also just merged the "Music video" and "Artist" columns to save space. You can do it differently if you want. But now you can add long comments if you wish. --talk) 17:35, 18 October 2013 (UTC)]

AKB48 has some songs on Spotify now - some of their more recent stuff from Manatsu no Sounds Good! to Koi Suru Fortune Cookie. -AngusWOOF (talk) 22:41, 29 October 2013 (UTC)
- I haven't even heard of Spotify before. :) No wonder, cause I've just looked what it is and their website says it's "not available in my country". --talk) 16:01, 30 October 2013 (UTC)]
- No worries. It's an online way to listen to the songs and support the bands. I added some track lengths based on what they listed there; it might be off by a second depending on what list to view (webpage for spotify instead of what's in spotify itself). I also listened to the off vocal versions on some of the tracks, and they have no backing vocals whatsoever, so can remove any specific off-vocal tracks where they explicitly credit lyrics to Akimoto. -AngusWOOF (talk) 19:15, 30 October 2013 (UTC)
- I think the only right place to find track lengths is the CDs. So we should better trust the Japanese Wikipedia and just copy all track lengths from there.
By the way, since you are here... :))) In the tables you created for all the AKB48 members, there's a column named "role". I think it's rather misleading, cause I don't think there's such thing as a "main role". If you mean "media sembatsu", write "media sembatsu". If you mean "main vocals" (like, the ones who have solo parts), write "main vocals". If you mean the front row of 5 or 7 singers or something, then better write a fan name for that. I understand that a research would be needed for each single to do that, so probably the easiest way is to write "A-side" the same way you wrote "B-side". (And maybe you did mean "A-side", I didn't think about that. :)) --talk) 19:52, 30 October 2013 (UTC)]- Regarding track lengths, yes, the best would be the CD cover or insert if available; I can leave a comment in each section where it refers to it as source (cover insert, Japanese wikipedia, iTunes/Spotify/music service). For Role, I treat it like a filmography of whether they participated on the title track and whether they are the center. I'm good with calling that "A-side" I don't want to dive into the original research assignments like "right of center in front row" or "centers for Team B when they perform this live" or "solos the second verse of the second stanza" or "the girl with the green hat, solos in video" stuff, etc. -AngusWOOF (talk) 14:28, 31 October 2013 (UTC)

I'm very sorry I've just reverted your revert. You see, it is not forbidden to add YouTube links if they are official. I didn't say anything yesterday cause the article about JESC 2013 didn't have the links to start with. According to Wikipedia guidelines, you had every right to revert me on the page that didn't have the links before I came. I had to start a discussion on the talk page to put the links back. I see some red squares again. Probably you reverted me again or posted on my talk page. I have to go now, but I will revert you back until the community of Wikipedia editors comes to some sort of consensus to remove the links. Sorry. Just think, would it be better if the readers could just watch the complete event instead of reading all these (horrible) articles? (My articles are horrible, I know it.) I personally think that I would prefer a YouTube link to the whole article about JESC 2013. As for your invitation to join the Eurovision Project... You see, my interest in Eurovision is occasional. And all my interest in Wikipedia is occasional lately too... I can't really... I'm still here on Wikipedia cause sometimes I see something that I want people to know about, so I return to add an article about it to Wikipedia... Now I think I probably shouldn't have returned to the English Wikipedia again... I really don't understand why people insist like this and revert me... Were these links useful? They certainly were. --Moscow Connection (talk) 14:42, 3 December 2013 (UTC)
Since you reverted me again, theatened me with WP:ANI (what for, who reverted who first and how many times?), notified Drmies saying that I was the one who dragged him into this discussion (if it was me, then what is the link saying "18 months ago" doing there, on top of this discussion?), etc., then let's stop this, okay? Please... I don't agree with you and I think there isn't much logic in what you say about violating copyright (the videos are uploaded by the European Broadcasting Union)... But who cares... Okay? (I didn't want to reply at all, but I thought someone might read this thread and think that I did something wrong... Please don't be angry if I don't reply... My plans were to go away for some time...) --Moscow Connection (talk) 18:37, 3 December 2013 (UTC) ]

AKB48 tablesPlease do not blindly revert to restore content that actually is on the article presently. Your edit removed every single improvement to formatting (removal of birth prefectures, conversion of {{birth date}} to {{birth date and age}}) that the talk page thought was beneficial. I only removed the table for the kenkyusei in my recent edits. It's pointless for them because they have no votes.—Ryūlóng (琉竜) 19:19, 13 January 2014 (UTC)
For fucks sake stop reverting me. The version I've produced is actually liked by people on the talk page. They are all in agreement that the prefecture information is pointless. Stop reverting. Stop breaking everything that I fixed in the older versions. There were so many god damn malformed dates of birth in there. There were abbreviated ones, ones that weren't provided in the proper formatting, and names that were just written wrong. I have been actively discussing the edits on the talk page. You have not. This is the new consensus version. Stop reverting me and discuss shit on the talk page now.—Ryūlóng (琉竜) 13:56, 14 January 2014 (UTC)
Re: BabymetalCheck the source. It's subtitled in English. They say exactly what I put there. Don't remove sourced information just because you think it is irrelevant. The origins of the name of a band or any other subject is such a basic information, no wonder many articles at Wikipedia have sometimes entire sections covering etymology. Since when the official website of a band is the only valid source? Not everything about a topic will be in its official website, you know. That's why we have magazines, newspapers, books, etc. And how do you know they simply "decided to invent a clever story" for the name? Blabbermouth is a reliable source, but I will add a direct link to Razor TV since that's the precise source. If you're still somehow against the addition of sourced valid information, you are invited to explain your reasons at the topic I just created at the article's talk page. Let's center the discussion there. If we don't reach an agreement, I'll resource to content dispute resolution. Victão Lopes Fala! 17:19, 19 January 2014 (UTC) ]
Kanako MomotaI'm really sorry about the article. I reacted with mild shock when I saw it in the preparation area for the Main Page. I know you have put in a lot of effort into it, and it's easy for someone to just come in and criticise it to death. I can understand how you might be feeling, and I hope you will not be driven away by this minor setback. This could have been avoided if the dyk reviewer was more experienced and gave you hints to improve it, but I'm disconcerted that it seems that's not what DYK reviews are about. I have contacted one experienced editor resident in Japan who I hope could help out. Failing which, you should post on WP:BIOGRAPHY to better understand the job of writing biographies. Your recent editing history at AKB48 shows that you are currently engaged in an edit war. Being involved in an edit war can result in your being blocked from editing—especially if you violate the three-revert rule, which states that an editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. Undoing another editor's work—whether in whole or in part, whether involving the same or different material each time—counts as a revert. Also keep in mind that while violating the three-revert rule often leads to a block, you can still be blocked for edit warring—even if you don't violate the three-revert rule—should your behavior indicate that you intend to continue reverting repeatedly. To avoid being blocked, instead of reverting please consider using the article's talk page to work toward making a version that represents consensus among editors. See BRD for how this is done. You can post a request for help at a relevant noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, you may wish to request temporary page protection. DAJF (talk) 08:26, 31 January 2014 (UTC)

MomotaHi, I see you've started translating the titles to the citations per my suggestion. I'd just like to point out that your efforts at this point in time would be most effective if focussed at getting the content right. You are already aware that the translations may eventually be useful but are principally as a courtesy to the non-Japanese reader. What's more, until the content issue is settled, you will not know the final scope of translation effort. If eventually some content needs to be removed, you precious time and effort will have been optimised without having done unnecessary translations. You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war according to the reverts you have made on Momoiro Clover Z. Users are expected to collaborate with others, to avoid editing disruptively, and to try to reach a consensus rather than repeatedly undoing other users' edits once it is known that there is a disagreement. Please be particularly aware, Wikipedia's policy on edit warring states:
If you find yourself in an editing dispute, use the article's talk page to discuss controversial changes; work towards a version that represents consensus among editors. You can post a request for help at an appropriate noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases it may be appropriate to request temporary page protection. Natalia PoklonskayaThe very fact that you refer to it as becoming "part of Russia" shows that you have a biased point of view. Furthermore, the claim that "Crimea sought secession" is 100% POV, and is based on the assumption that people of Crimea genuinely wanted to cede from Ukraine, which is not something that has ever been proven by fact. You are the one who kept reverting my edits without reasonable explanation. Now you say that the annexation happened later, so I changed it to "during the Crimean crisis". Where is this "search and replace" button? I can't find it. Are you using AWB? --Moscow Connection (talk) 07:59, 15 December 2016 (UTC)- On the wiki toolbar, it's under "Advanced" and the button on the right, above the scrollbar. Spinout
With the Elvis Presley films, the music is generally more important than the film, which shows in the pageviews 3444 views for the film and 12801 for the album- The primary subject would therefore be the album. I still prefer to use Spinout as the disambiguation page. Inwind (talk) 15:42, 20 December 2016 (UTC)

I don't think so... I don't really think the view statistics works in this case. The album's article can be more popular for a variety of reasons. Maybe it has more incoming links. Maybe people come back again and again to look at the track list. I have no idea.

Rain and Tears
Hi Moscow Connection - to explain my actions at Rain and Tears
You may be unfamiliar with the Sicilian long-term cross wiki vandal, if so, please see the summary here. There is consensus that their edits should be reverted as per Wikipedia:Revert, block, ignore - This particular IP has already been blocked, following my request.
Their vandalism is best described as "sneaky", as they start with correct edits and then start sneaking the vandalism in, once they think they have lulled people into a false sense of security. This isn't just a problem on the English Wikipedia - they also vandalize Italian Wikipedia - Arjayay (talk) 14:11, 9 November 2017 (UTC)

I'll leave this a day while you work out what is correct, but according to the articles he is NOT a songwriter, so therefore the songwriter cat is wrong. If that is incorrect then it makes sense to move all the entries to the songwriter cat and delete the music by cat. At no point is there any help for anybody having both cats, it would be category clutter. --Richhoncho (talk) 09:41, 11 November 2017 (UTC)

My comment on you talk page applies to Russian sportspeople as well. For example, you renamed [31] "Gennadiy Krysin". When I searched Google Books, I saw his name written as "Gennady Krysin" and "Gennadi Krysin" in a couple of books, but there weren't a single "Gennadiy Krysin". Could you check whether this is a typo or legitimately from some original quote? "you first lover" might be appropriate in bed, but not quite correct if English? Perhaps that should be 'your'? Shenme (talk) 00:23, 14 February 2018 (UTC)

- No, the title of the article is not written in English. It is a romanization of the original Japanese title. If it is your only complaint, you should remove the speedy deletion template and read the rules, namely Wikipedia:Naming conventions (use English): "Names not originally in a Latin alphabet, as with Greek, Chinese or Russian, must be transliterated into characters generally intelligible to literate speakers of English." - I don't think it was a good idea. I will have to think about it...
I would remove some columns that were unsourced and/or doubtful. The USSR, France cause the current chart was launched towards the end of 1984 and I have no idea where the earlier data are from, Australia and Italy for more or less the same reason, Japan as unsourced (very interesting, but I don't know how it can be sourced), South Africa. Actually, that's all, I wouldn't remove any more. That leaves 13 countries. And I think it is common to put the US first and the UK last. (No, on the second thought, in this case Austria, Germany and Switzerland should stay first. But the UK and the US should be prominently put last.)
And I would add back the two columns that were removed from the albums table. --Moscow Connection (talk) 19:02, 29 April 2018 (UTC)- So I'm going to revert your revert, because I already made all the singles in the proper style. There are three mistakes: you moved a US position to the UK column, you deleted the correct Canadian position for Einzelshcaft, and it's RPM (magazine), not Music Canada.

Allcaps in references
I noticed your reversion of my edit to two articles about Babymetal, which were mainly to convert allcaps to title case in citations. You said that MOS:CAPS is about Wikipedia articles, not about references, and that the original article titles should never be changed.
That is not correct. Please see more specifically Wikipedia:Manual_of_Style/Capital_letters#All_caps_and_small_caps. The first bullet of this section is about newspaper headlines and specifically mentions citations, which is where newspaper headlines are usually found in Wikipedia. Citations are also mentioned in one of the later bullet points in this section of the Manual of Style. Furthermore, the allcaps 'BABYMETAL' is merely the stylized form of Babymetal, as stated in the first sentence on that Wikipedia page. Wikipedia should not be using standard English lettering whenever possible, not promoting any entity with their own style lettering, whether in the body of an article or elsewhere.
I agree that typos in references should not be changed because search functions may not be able to find citations if one is searching for an original title, but fixing allcaps doesn't cause that problem.
I've spent many hours reducing allcaps in articles that I have usually landed on when searching for typographical errors as part of the Wikipedia Typo Team. Wrestling and certain types of entertainment articles (I guess those are the same thing, in a way) are frequent offenders, but so are 'regular' newspaper articles such as from the New York Times. As mentioned in the Wikipedia Manual of Style, these headlines are often imported in allcaps but should get reduced to sentence or title case in almost every instance. (And I don't believe anybody has ever reverted any of my edits because of ALLCAPS.) Please reconsider your reversions on these pages - allcaps is just yelling.
Thanks.
Ira

- 1. The rule you linked says, "Reduce newspaper headlines and other titles from all caps to title case:" The titles weren't in all caps, only the name of the band was capitalized. 2. The rule you linked says "when they have only a stylistic function". They don't have only the stylistic function here, it is the actual name of the band, it is not "merely a stylized form of Babymetal" as you say. 2. Most of the newspaper headlines you changed weren't in English, the rule you linked doesn't say anything about Japanese text. 3. You can ask at Wikipedia:WikiProject Japan. --Moscow Connection (talk) 00:05, 15 May 2018 (UTC)
Artcile on https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/%C3%87a_va_pas_changer_le_monde edited by Moscow Connection appears to be wrong.
It lists Joe Dassin and somebody else as composers whereas the song appears to be, at least partially, both melody and style wise a cover of a previous year hit https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/My_Melody_of_Love which in itself was a cover of another song (and mentions it). Somebody should correct it, but to what extent (whether or not Dassin paid for the writes and wrote some of his own stuff or not I don't know) I am not sure. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Vkulesho (talk • contribs) 20:04, 8 June 2018 (UTC)
Soviet Aviation Task Force invitation
Hi! I just found you on Wikipedia and noticed you are fluent in both English in Russian. Would you please consider writing some of the articles from Russian version translation on our missing list? Many articles there are well above and beyond notability requirements, such as major plane crashes and some of the more famous Heroes of the Soviet Union. We also have a lot of stubs that are in desperate need of expansion. I really hope you can help with our translation backlog, these are on very notable topics that deserve more coverage. Based on your username, is there any chance you would be able to get a few photos of an Aeroflot Antonov An-10 and Aeroflot Ilyushin Il-18B (they're in museums, not in service) and upload them to Commons? Thank you so much, we would be very appreciative of a native Russian speaker in our task force.--PlanespotterA320 (talk) 01:00, 21 June 2018 (UTC)

Kharkiv Human Rights Protection Group
Hi. Could you please give me a reason for removing my edits on the article of Anatoly Shariy. The Kharkiv Human Rights Protection Group is a respected organization which is relevant enough to have an own Wikipedia article. An "awful" looking website is not a reason for removing information. The article that I have used as reference contains no controversial or disputed information. Every media sources ([40] [41]) agree that Shariy was charged because of the McDonalds incident. Shariy never denied this information.--KastusK (talk) 20:08, 24 February 2019 (UTC)
- I've never heard of it and can't judge how respected it is but they used this as the only source. (Ukrainska Pravda is basically a Ukrainian propaganda website.) --Moscow Connection (talk) 21:08, 24 February 2019 (UTC)
- Okay, I can see now that there are multiple sources. But one of your sources says:
Shariy said that the incident at McDonald's was no coincidence, because earlier he began investigating the subject of illegal drug trade that "was covered, speaking directly, led, by the Interior Ministry." According to the journalist, the police conducted their investigation into the shooting at McDonalds in four days, trumped up a criminal case against him under Part 4, Article 296 of the Criminal Code (hooliganism committed with a firearm) and sent it to the courts.
- Why didn't you write anything about that? --Moscow Connection (talk) 21:17, 24 February 2019 (UTC)
- You can add this information to the article if you want. However it does not make my edits less valid. Wikipedia allows to use Ukrainska Pravda as a source. About a thousand Wikipedia articles have references to this medium. The article on Anatoly Shariy even used the same article of the Kharkiv Human Rights Protection Group as a reference in its introduction. I have restored the information.--KastusK (talk) 22:13, 24 February 2019 (UTC)
- Okay, I'll add the quote now. --Moscow Connection (talk) 22:14, 24 February 2019 (UTC)

Frances & Aiko
I noticed you renamed Frances & Aiko, but the group debuted only in Taiwan only under the name 大小姐 and their URL is lists the translation "Big Small Sister." Chinese groups, unlike Japanese, usually have their names translated instead of keeping it Romanized. I think it's inaccurate to keep the group's name as "Frances & Aiko" especially since they never debuted under that name and it was only a placeholder until they actually debuted. lullabying (talk) 16:12, 22 April 2019 (UTC)

Category:Songs with lyrics by Eddy Marnay;
I have no problem with the creation of this category IF he only contributed lyrics, but if he has contributed any music then he is a songwriter, then that should be the only category. Or are you suggesting there should be 2 or more cats for effectively the same thing? --Richhoncho (talk) 18:32, 12 November 2019 (UTC)
- I don't know, are there any precedents of multiple categories for songs written/composed by the same person? As far as I understand, he wrote almost exclusively lyrics, although there are a few examples to the contrary ([42]). --Moscow Connection (talk) 18:47, 12 November 2019 (UTC)
- There are plenty of examples where lyricists are listed under songwriters because the contribution is fluid, especially amongst bands. My point is there is no point in having 2 cats, if 'songwriter' is incorrect I am OK with that. --Richhoncho (talk) 19:04, 12 November 2019 (UTC)
- I don't know which is the right way to do these things. All I can say that the French Wikipedia calls Eddy Marnay a lyricist. And I've just scrolled through it, the article talks about his many collaborations with famous composers but it doesn't mention any music by him. --Moscow Connection (talk) 19:23, 12 November 2019 (UTC)
- I would say let's just leave both categories as they are. I think that sooner or later all but a couple of his songs will be moved to the lyrics-only category. --Moscow Connection (talk) 20:04, 12 November 2019 (UTC)
- No. Either/Or. Two categories is misleading. By all means if he is ONLY a lyricist then my objection is not to move everying this. BTW Have you see Category:Songs written by Kumi Koda and there are others. --Richhoncho (talk) 20:07, 12 November 2019 (UTC)
- In this case I think it's better to soft-redirect the "written by" category to the "with lyrics by" one and to move all the articles there. A relevant example is Category:Songs written by Duke Ellington. Ellington did in fact write some lyrics, but he is still primarily a composer. --Moscow Connection (talk) 20:23, 12 November 2019 (UTC)
- If he only wrote lyrics, I can agree with you. If he contributed music, then that is not a solution. --Richhoncho (talk) 20:47, 12 November 2019 (UTC)
- If Marnay wrote over four thousand lyrics and one complete song (with both music and lyrics), which category is more precise and more useful? --Moscow Connection (talk) 21:08, 12 November 2019 (UTC)
- Sorry my Russian isn't up to that. Isn't the whole point that a songwriter can write either words or music? FWIW, I created many of the lyricist cats... --Richhoncho (talk) 22:08, 12 November 2019 (UTC)
- Do as you wish (you can redirect the "with lyrics by" category), but I still think my category is more precise and will ultimately be more useful. (It already is.)
Sorry, I have just one hour and a half left to nominate an article I've created for DYK, so I won't be able to continue this discussion today. I'll be back tomorrow, though. (Just redirect my category if you really think it's better like that.) --Moscow Connection (talk) 22:35, 12 November 2019 (UTC)- I have redirected the lyrics cat. In my searches I always found Eddy mentioned as a songwriter, not as a lyricist, according to ASCAP, he also wrote at least one song with Norman Gimbel, who is a lyricist. --Richhoncho (talk) 10:13, 13 November 2019 (UTC)
- Do as you wish (you can redirect the "with lyrics by" category), but I still think my category is more precise and will ultimately be more useful. (It already is.)

Angelina (French singer)
Hello:
The copy edit you requested from the Guild of Copy Editors of the article Angelina (French singer) has been completed.
Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns.
This article is grossly over cited. Only one reputable source is required when a fact is added to an article. Some facts here are supported by six or more citations! This is completely unnecessary and makes editing the article a chore. Also, since the article is tagged with a dmy date format tag, dates in the citation should also appear in the same format. I would suggest that you work your way through the article and remove the excess citations leaving only the most reputable.
Best of luck with the DYK.

Using Template:Start date outside infoboxes
Hi. Perhaps you still do this or have done it elsewhere, I'm not sure, but I have recently noticed that years ago, you started a number of Japanese artists' articles and in the discography section wikitables, used Template:Start date to format the date. The template's documentation explicitly states it should never be used outside templates that emit microformats, which it was built for. This means it should not be used in wikitables, but only really infoboxes, so please just type the date out if you make these tables in future. Thanks. Ss112 03:58, 18 March 2020 (UTC)

Twofingered Typist (talk) 15:24, 30 April 2020 (UTC)
- @Twofingered Typist: Thank you so much! I've now changed it to your version. But someone may revert. Cause I've noticed it long ago that most members of the DYK project like to preface people's names with descriptors such as "Spanish singer", "French singer", "Japanese band", "French musical duo".
A recent example:
• ... that the performance of French singer Angelina (pictured) at the 2018 Junior Eurovision Song Contest marked France's return to the competition after 14 years?
:-) --Moscow Connection (talk) 15:57, 30 April 2020 (UTC)
- @Moscow Connection: well :French group Les Frangines" would be fine. My concern was that "guitar" has to be single and "both" of them learned to play. Twofingered Typist (talk) 17:41, 30 April 2020 (UTC)
- @Twofingered Typist: I changed the hook back a bit: [43].
Should it be "the guitar" or just "guitar"? Cwmhiraeth wrote "guitars", and Ravenpuff changed it to "the guitar". (I think it's good either way, but "guitar" sounds much better. But I'm not a native speaker, so I can't be 100% sure.) --Moscow Connection (talk) 17:59, 30 April 2020 (UTC)

- @Moscow Connection: I agree - "guitar" sounds better but either way is fine. Twofingered Typist (talk) 18:05, 30 April 2020 (UTC)
- @Moscow Connection and Twofingered Typist: I'd argue that we normally use "the" when talking about playing musical instruments – i.e. "play the guitar" is preferred over "play guitar" (which incidentally makes it sound a little like a game or sport). This ngram chart of "play the guitar" vs "play guitar" shows that the former is consistently more common. This convention is even more emphasised when comparing "play the piano" vs "play piano". I don't mind either way about providing a brief descriptor in the hook, as the context already makes it clear that they're musicians, but a little more detail usually isn't undesirable. — RAVENPVFF · talk · 18:37, 30 April 2020 (UTC)

Users are expected to collaborate with others, to avoid editing disruptively, and to try to reach a consensus, rather than repeatedly undoing other users' edits once it is known that there is a disagreement.
Points to note:
- Edit warring is disruptive regardless of how many reverts you have made;
- Do not edit war even if you believe you are right.
If you find yourself in an editing dispute, use the article's talk page to discuss controversial changes and work towards a version that represents consensus among editors. You can post a request for help at an appropriate noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, it may be appropriate to request temporary page protection. If you engage in an edit war, you may be blocked from editing. --Hipal/Ronz (talk) 17:43, 6 September 2020 (UTC)

- Hi! I'm very sorry, but I'm not good at encyclopedic prose myself. And the article is rather long, it would take too much time even to read it. Please note that your recent behavior against me is not really fair and constructive. We currently have personal attack. Note that any issues that I might have had in ruwiki (that I don't edit for almost two years now) have nothing to do with enwiki (where I always have been in a perfectly good standing, ever since July 2012).Slow down please, and resort to a fair and civil discussion. — Mike Novikoff 21:30, 31 October 2020 (UTC)

- 1. You continued to remove stress marks before I had a chance to reply. Yes, I think that was disruptive. 2. The message in that template is more universal. You don't have to violate 3RR to be edit warring. But I'll rename the section to "Edit warring" if you wish. (I'll do it now.) 2. I've told you several times already that if you want something changed you need to start a wider discussion. Your talk page isn't the right place to discuss the matter. --Moscow Connection (talk) 21:47, 31 October 2020 (UTC)

Stresses in Russian
Hello, Mike_Novikoff keeps removing stresses in Russian names. What is worse, he is referring to his essay as if it were an established rule or something. Read here. I believe this is a very dishonest behavior. Could you please do something about it? Thanks. Taurus Littrow (talk) 19:59, 20 January 2021 (UTC)
Hi again. I don't intend to rewrite Novikoff's essay since that would be a colossal task, as I pointed out on the essay's talk page. It would be easier just to delete it altogether. Besides, I'm really tired of this "war", so I don't want to invest too much time into it. Best regards. Taurus Littrow (talk) 14:01, 25 January 2021 (UTC)
Oh well, I finally found time to rewrite Novikov's essay. Have a look and let me know what you think. You can comment on the essay's talk page. – Taurus Littrow (talk) 16:35, 31 January 2021 (UTC)
- @Taurus Littrow: Good job, I like it! Actually, I would say that "it is often impossible to determine the correct stress placement even for a native speaker (especially in place names and in last names other than the common ones)". This would be more exact. --Moscow Connection (talk) 22:33, 31 January 2021 (UTC)

The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Valentina (singer). You are welcome to check how many pageviews the nominated article or articles got while on the front page (here's how, Valentina (singer)), and if they received a combined total of at least 416.7 views per hour (ie, 5,000 views in 12 hours or 10,000 in 24), the hook may be added to the statistics page. - Hi Moscow Connection; I noticed while fixing a broken reference that two of the sources, 17 and 18, appear to be identical so it might be best to use only one of them. While I'm here, your talk page is rather long and should be archived so editors don't need to scroll down so far to leave messages; it also takes far too long for all of that text to load on slow connections (not to mention images). I see several requests for you to do this, one dating back to 2012, and I asked in December 2019! Cheers and good luck with the article, Baffle☿gab 06:05, 4 February 2021 (UTC)

Disambiguated titles
You don't need to create every article on an Elvis song with a disambiguated title, such as you did with
- Watch for capitalization issues as well. You didn't need to create an article at They Remind Me Too Much Of You when the proper title already existed as a redirect at They Remind Me Too Much of You. Thanks again. StarcheerspeaksnewslostwarsTalk to me 20:08, 8 February 2021 (UTC)]
- @Starcheerspeaksnewslostwars: Yes, okay, I will rename the articles later. I just wanted to create them fast. (I had drafts for 20 or so articles on Elvis Presley songs since at least 2019. And then yesterday I saw a new user who started creating some of the articles I wanted to create. So I decided I'd better create them myself and fast.)
Actually, I found my drafts just a week or two ago and had them ready and waiting, but planned to take on Elvis Presley songs after I finished with Johnny Cash. --Moscow Connection (talk) 20:22, 8 February 2021 (UTC)- OK, thanks. I've already put in histmerge and move requests for all the ones I could find. Hopefully, you can expand on some of these to say more than it charted in Belgium. StarcheerspeaksnewslostwarsTalk to me 20:27, 8 February 2021 (UTC)
- @Starcheerspeaksnewslostwars: Thank you! That would be much appreciated! I'll work on the articles too, I didn't plan to leave them like that.
Actually, I'm now looking at my drafts folder and I understand that I didn't create these articles back in 2017–2019 because I didn't want to expand them from redirects. And that's why I named my drafts like this. :-) Not all of them, but some including "Indescribably Blue" and "One Broken Heart for Sale" the other user created yesterday already existed as redirects. By the way, he probably thought the same as me. Cause he also created the articles under a different name. --Moscow Connection (talk) 21:17, 8 February 2021 (UTC) - @Starcheerspeaksnewslostwars: I don't think a histmerge is needed here [44]. The new page doesn't borrow anything from the old one. --Moscow Connection (talk) 00:22, 9 February 2021 (UTC)
- I rewrote the lead [45]. (I don't think "... is a song by" is a copyrighted expression and any similarity was purely coincidental.) --Moscow Connection (talk) 00:27, 9 February 2021 (UTC)
- @Starcheerspeaksnewslostwars: I've added a note to my move request [46]. And I will now rewrite the two remaining articles and submit move requests for them two. --Moscow Connection (talk) 00:48, 9 February 2021 (UTC)
- By the way, it has happened many times to me already that I wanted to create an article and there was a redirect and I decided not to proceed. But then some other person created the article elsewhere and asked to move it to that place. :-) "Metal Resistance" is one of the examples. I'm not sure what is the correct procedure in these cases. --Moscow Connection (talk) 01:00, 9 February 2021 (UTC)
- I will request to move the other two pages a bit later, maybe tomorrow or the day after tomorrow. Now I'd better just add track listings everywhere. --Moscow Connection (talk) 02:13, 9 February 2021 (UTC)

Please do good work on the encyclopedia, not fast work. You get no bonus points for being the page creator. Rushing to create incomplete and mis-titled articles because you're worried someone else might create them is not recommended behavior.
- I'm working on it. Don't worry. I created maybe 50 or 80 or even close to 100 Elvis Presley articles three years ago, so 25 more is not a big deal. I'll need a week or so. --Moscow Connection (talk) 04:39, 9 February 2021 (UTC)
- I'm happy to give you a week to de-stubify these creations; generally any song that hits the Top 100 charts can be expanded to an article. I'm not happy that you appear to be creating articles at incorrect titles just so you can show up as the first editor. Every source I find says "I'm Left, You're Right, She's Gone" is the title (despite the lyrics going the other way), as do both of your sources (yes, the Billboard magazine reference has it both ways on different pages). π, ν) 04:46, 9 February 2021 (UTC)]
- The titles aren't incorrect. Only this one. (Yes, it definitely looks like it is incorrect.) I will request to rename the article right now, if you wish. (Maybe five or so have "Elvis Presley song" added unnecessary, that's all.) --Moscow Connection (talk) 04:56, 9 February 2021 (UTC)
- I'm completely confused [47], to be honest. But anyway, I created the articles I wanted to create 3 or 4 years ago, so I will work on them. Sorry for the inconvenience. --Moscow Connection (talk) 04:59, 9 February 2021 (UTC)

- Some of the redirects had useful categories, e.g. the writer, that you didn't use on the article. The targets also referred to the song, but you didn't create a wikilink from the redirect target to the new article. Remember to pay attention to such details. Fences&Windows 21:39, 10 February 2021 (UTC)
- Sorry, I didn't look at the redirects when I was creating the articles. (Yes, now I'm starting to remember how some years ago I saw a number of redirects created by Draft:He Walks Beside Me.) I understood it was my last chance, cause he would create everything I wanted and the result would be worse that mine would have been. So I took my old drafts folder and started creating everything there was and even more. (There were many subfolders with text files and sources and Wikipedia shortcuts like "Creating [page name]".)]
Anyway, sorry for the inconvenience. I'll add the writer categories everywhere. --Moscow Connection (talk) 22:06, 10 February 2021 (UTC) - By the way, I don't remember seeing the official Elvis website back in 2016–2019. There are now pages for all Elvis' singles on the website, so it will be much easier for me to create Wikipedia pages on them. --Moscow Connection (talk) 22:11, 10 February 2021 (UTC)
- Again, what's the rush? Why not just improve the articles the other editor ends up creating? This is not a race. Also, an official website isn't a reliable source for establishing notability. Thanks. StarcheerspeaksnewslostwarsTalk to me 00:56, 11 February 2021 (UTC)

If being a metal band with pop vocals is enough to be "kawaii metal", why don't we start slapping the term on bands like Nightwish? The insistence that "kawaii metal" is a credible genre of music with a history of artists actually using and embracing the term is laughable; it's literally only been Babymetal and western journalists gassing them up who have used the term frankly almost a decade ago. It's straight up just not a thing in Japan where this "scene" is alleged to be taking place and if anything, this page should be replaced or renamed to "alt-idol" or "chika idol", which are actual terms in Japan used to describe idols who blend edgy rock/metal aesthetics with being idols. When more artists start using the term rather than just journalists, then I'll stop nominating this page for deletion. Until then it's just glorified orientalism and fetishization. About as credible as anime nerds thinking that Japan is some kind of apolitical anime wonderland. Grow up.

Hi Moscow Connection,
in your answer to Talk:1% (song) #Where are the lyrics?
You indented your answer with an asterisk (*).
Is this (just) individual style?
Because: (of course you know) the usual way is: to use a colon (:).

- Is this (just) individual style?
– I don't know if this can count as an "individual style". It's just that I've probably never read the "rules for formatting your replies" (or whatever they are called). And no one has ever complained before. (AFAIR, on the French Wiki you have to use a colon cause if you use an asterisk it won't look the same, but here on the Enwiki the difference is imperceptible to me.) --Moscow Connection (talk) 10:59, 15 October 2022 (UTC) - Now, when I think of it... I like it more with a bullet... --Moscow Connection (talk) 11:00, 15 October 2022 (UTC)
Congrats !! - You just passed 444 topics in your ToC
From a living user -- not a bot.
Hi Moscow Connection,
(I'm not complaining, this is just an idea/suggestion.)
On your Talk page I wanted to know/see how many topics there are.
When I scrolled down the content table of your Talk page, I had to scroll down quite a while. You just passed 444. Respect! (I have heard, the Russians love such numbers.)
But after a while I thought: It would be nice to have a button/link, named something like:
[ To the bottom of the Table of Content ].
And if you wanted to "put the dot on the i" (meaning: top this) this button/link would be visible always (within the ToC), no matter which section is visible currently (like the header band of some normal tables).
My first idea was: An anchor at the bottom of and within the ToC (but this could be tricky).
My second idea: An anchor before the first actual header (this would be no technical challenge).
My last idea: I could just click into the top most line in the ToC, and when the text is made visible, scroll up a few lines.
But this only is possible if the top of the ToC is already visible.
I also tried [Ctrl]+[End] (with the "writing position indicator" in the ToC ) but it led to the bottom of the whole page.
Or, maybe, a counter for the number of topics -- if this is possible technically.
This way such a question like mine would be answered without any scrolling.
On the other hand:
When I loaded my first topic up to your Talk page, this took much more time than loading my edits up to any other page (of any wikipedia). And this was so with every action which the wiki software had to do with your page, like:
- waiting for the page to open, after I clicked on [ New section ],
- preview and
- loading my edit up and waiting for the indication that it got done.
I guess this is due to the impressive number of topics.
I think, now I understand, why some owners use an archive.

Moscow Connection thanked you for your edit on Born to Lose (Ted Daffan song)
You're welcome, I wanted to thank you in turn for starting the page! Thank God I spotted it at the perfect time. I was sitting on Ted Daffan and 1943 in country music material that I had researched and written in segments. I re-wrote the 1943 page and "Pistol Packin' Mama", and was looking to use my other material when your page came along! I saw " I can't think of a better wording" and "under construction", and I thought, "This is perfect!" A win-win for USA and Russia! spleceba and das vandanya! - Dave Tillywilly17 (talk) 23:37, 7 November 2022 (UTC)

The Touch of Your Lips (disambiguation)
Hi Moscow Connection - according to
- @Leschnei: I think the song is the primary topic, so it sholld stay at "The Touch of Your Lips". As for disambiguation page, I've just moved it to "The Touch of Your Lips (disambiguation)". Is everything okay now? --Moscow Connection (talk) 20:07, 31 December 2022 (UTC)
I'm really not sure what you are trying to do with Bim bam toi. In my edit (please examine the page) I used the template with the ‡ footnote, which reads, very clearly "Sales+streaming figures based on certification alone". It does not signify sales, it signifies a mixture of sales and streaming. You reverted with the summary the song didn't sell 100 thousand
, which of course it didn't and that's not what the template is saying. Perhaps you are not aware of the fact that the {{Certification Table Entry}} template is used with the ‡ footnote in 16288 pages. It is the result of a very long lasting (12 years now) consensus and effort to standardize record certifications, which you are working against. --Muhandes (talk) 09:37, 3 February 2023 (UTC)
- But the footnote in your version clearly stated "100,000". And that was certainly misleading. (I think this template just doesn't work right in this case. So maybe a manually-created table would be better. And, by the way, AFAIK, the gold certification is now given to a single that sold 50,000 and not 100,000 copies.) --Moscow Connection (talk) 09:47, 3 February 2023 (UTC)
- The number 100,000 is very obviously in equivalent units, in exactly the same way it is listed in the other 16288 pages which are using the ‡ footnote and equivalent units. This is the result of 12 years of discussions and consensus, and the way the community has chosen to work. If you think the template could be improved, start discussion at Template talk:Certification Table Entry. Don't go against consensus. --Muhandes (talk) 10:09, 3 February 2023 (UTC)
- I'm sorry, but I don't have so much time so as to go through lengthy discussions on the template talk page. I simply think the template doesn't work right in that particular case, so I removed the sales figure and the footnotes from that paricular article. It's not a big deal, is it? --Moscow Connection (talk) 10:36, 3 February 2023 (UTC)

- @Muhandes: See this edit to the French Wikipedia article: [49]. I don't have a source for that number of streams, but maybe Idolico has. (Btw, the official video alone has 108 million views on YT.) --Moscow Connection (talk) 09:55, 3 February 2023 (UTC)
- I don't speak French, and frankly, I don't care much how the French Wikipedia community chooses to work. The English Wikipedia, and specifically the people involved with record charts, choose to display equivalent units, except for some certifications where streams are used exclusively. I'm not saying the template is perfect, and for sure there is place for improvements - you are very welcome to make suggestions about improving the template at Template talk:Certification Table Entry. --Muhandes (talk) 10:13, 3 February 2023 (UTC)
- Actually, Idolico is right. See this page on the SNEP website. It says that the gold certification is given for 15 million equivalent streams (150 streams equal 1 sale). --Moscow Connection (talk) 10:36, 3 February 2023 (UTC)
- @Muhandes: Okay, who cares, I've reverted to your version. --Moscow Connection (talk) 11:56, 3 February 2023 (UTC)
- Thank you. By the way, 15 million streams at "150 streams equal 1 sale" comes out 100,000 equivalent sales, which is exactly what the template outputs. If you can think of a way to make the footnote clearer, you are welcome at Template talk:Certification Table Entry. --Muhandes (talk) 15:09, 3 February 2023 (UTC)

"If you can think of a way to make the footnote clearer."
— I'll try to think about it later. --Moscow Connection (talk) 15:22, 3 February 2023 (UTC)

Hello. It appears your talk page is becoming quite lengthy and is in need of archiving. According to Wikipedia's user talk page guidelines: "Large talk pages are difficult to read and load slowly over slow connections. As a rule of thumb, archive closed discussions when a talk page exceeds 75 kB or has multiple resolved or stale discussions." – this talk page is 728.4 kB. See Help:Archiving a talk page for instructions on how to manually archive your talk page, or to arrange for automatic archiving using a bot. If you have any questions, place a {{help me}} notice on your talk page, or go to the help desk. Thank you. ~~ AirshipJungleman29 (talk) 17:06, 4 February 2024 (UTC)
