Sweet! Thanks. It's a very interesting satellite image. I'm sure the Ancient Aliens folks are already stirring up wild stories about it. They just can't help themselves but concoct their loony fringe stuff that sadly is broadcasted by none other than the once credible History Channel. Hello, I'm Shellwood. I noticed that in this edit to Lam Sơn uprising, you removed content without adequately explaining why. In the future, it would be helpful to others if you described your changes to Wikipedia with an edit summary. If this was a mistake, don't worry, the removed content has been restored. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thanks. Shellwood (talk) 12:34, 7 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard

to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on

section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be an unambiguous copyright infringement. This page appears to be a direct copy from http://exhibits.lib.usf.edu/items/show/390. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images taken from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites or other printed material as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing
.

If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to use it for any reason — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. The same holds if you are not the owner but have their permission. If you are not the owner and do not have permission, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for how you may obtain it. You might want to look at Wikipedia's copyright policy for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Wikipedia and copyright

Control copyright icon Hello Sgnpkd, and welcome to Wikipedia. All or some of your addition(s) to Eastern Zone massacres have been removed, as they appear to have added copyrighted material without evidence of permission from the copyright holder. It's very important that contributors understand and follow these practices, as policy requires that people who persistently do not must be blocked from editing. If you have any questions about this, you are welcome to leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. Darkness Shines (talk) 19:15, 8 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Sawndip comment

I was wondering were your addition "In Vietnam, the script is known as Chữ Nôm Nùng, meaning the Chữ Nôm of Nung people." comes from? Johnkn63 (talk) 09:33, 18 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Umm, from common knowledge? Sgnpkd (talk) 10:31, 18 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]
For wikipedia need verifiable content. "Knowledge" without a source would be original research. As to Sawndip characters in Vietnam, characters in Unicode are described as being
Tay characters in documents. Find a source for your addition and it can be added. However, you should also consider where to add material to a page- the introduction should reflect the content of the rest of the page.Johnkn63 (talk) 03:22, 19 June 2018 (UTC)[reply
]
Hi, Tay and Nung or Zhuang are the same people, in Vietnam, Tay and Nung are just two names of the same people due to Nung being re-immigrate to Vietnam at a later time. About the reference, would a Vietnamese language source taken from Vietnamese wiki be ok? Sgnpkd (talk) 18:35, 21 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]
The wikipedia article by itself not be enough, for several reasons. Here we are talking about writing systems, not people groups, so just showing two groups are related does not mean they use the same writing system. Translating from a related wikipedia is allowed, though must be done with care with regard to context, however there is no Vietnamese article on Sawndip. The closest thing I can find in the vietnamese wiki is "Người Nùng dùng chữ Hán hay chữ Nôm Nùng (được phát triển khoảng thế kỷ 17) để ghi chép thơ ca và truyện cổ dân gian." with the reference 'Viện Dân tộc học (1983). Sổ tay về các dân tộc ở Việt Nam. Hà Nội: Nhà xuất bản Khoa học Xã hội. tr. 135.' on https://vi.wikipedia.org/wiki/Người_Nùng but it has Chữ Nôm Tráng as separate topic. Wilipedia has a
No Original Research rule, which means that one needs to find a reliable source that says what you wish to add. There needs to be a source that says it clearly, it is not permitted to combine sources to reach a new conclusion. So really one has to look outside of wikipedia.Johnkn63 (talk) 02:00, 22 June 2018 (UTC)[reply

Found a sentance in David Holm's "Mapping the Old Zhuang Character Script" page one that includes Vietnamese usage. https://brill.com/abstract/book/9789004242166/B9789004242166_002.xml .Johnkn63 (talk) 07:29, 24 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

While you are welcome to re-use Wikipedia's content, here or elsewhere, Wikipedia's licensing does require that you provide attribution to the original contributor(s). When copying within Wikipedia, this is supplied at minimum in an edit summary at the page into which you've copied content, disclosing the copying and linking to the copied page, e.g., copied content from [[page name]]; see that page's history for attribution. It is good practice, especially if copying is extensive, to also place a properly formatted {{copied}} template on the talk pages of the source and destination. The attribution has been provided for this situation, but if you have copied material between pages before, even if it was a long time ago, please provide attribution for that duplication. Chongqing as Congqin

Hey- in August, you deleted the English-language term 'Ch’ung-ch’ing' on the Chongqing page and replaced it with 'Congqin' (here: [2]). I don't know what your source is for Congqin (although it does pass my 'smell test' as a likely form of the name of the city in local dialect). If you have some source for that spelling of the name being used in an English-language context in reference to Chongqing, I'd love to see it. However, I would like to also say that we know with 100% certainty that Chongqing has been called Ch’ung-ch’ing in the English language. (References: World Book Encyclopedia 2003 vol 3 page 521", also spelled Chungking or Ch’ung-ch’ing,"; Reader's Digest Great World Atlas Pleasantville, New York 1963 p131 C h "CHUNGKING" & index page 198 "Chungking, China"; [3] "CH’UNG-CH’ING (CHUNGKING) 重慶") Thanks for your work! Geographyinitiative (talk) 10:50, 10 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, both Chung-ching and Chongqing are same Putonghua pronunciation. Only differs in romanization systems, they are pronounced identically, that's why I think it's a duplicate. Chungking is the old name, which used Nanjing Mandarin pronunciation. Congqin is the name in local Sichuanese Mandarin, written in pinyin. It is pronounced like tzong-chin. Sorry for late reply. Luchuan–Burma campaigns

Hi Sgnpkd, I saw you moved the article

Mong Mao, which in Yuan official division called Luchuan Circuit (zh:麓川路) annex lots of lands and Tusi in western Yunnan. Yuan canonized Si Kefa as "Pingmian Pacification Superintendency" (平缅宣慰使). In the Ming dynasty, Hongwu Emperor canonized Si Kefa's grandson to be "Luchuan–Pingmian Pacification Superintendency" (麓川平缅宣慰使). "Luchuan–Pingmian" is the official Tusi name of Mong Mao in Ming dynasty. For here, the "Luchuan–Pingmian" is one name, Pingmian doesn't means pacify Burma here. See the bold, revert, discuss cycle for how this is done. If discussions reach an impasse, you can then post a request for help at a relevant noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, you may wish to request temporary page protection.

Being involved in an edit war can result in you being blocked from editing—especially if you violate the three-revert rule, which states that an editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. Undoing another editor's work—whether in whole or in part, whether involving the same or different material each time—counts as a revert. Also keep in mind that while violating the three-revert rule often leads to a block, you can still be blocked for edit warring—even if you do not violate the three-revert rule—should your behavior indicate that you intend to continue reverting repeatedly.

Unsourced additions

Hi, could you add sources for your recent edits to Unrecognized ethnic groups in China? If a (Chinese) wikipedia page for them exists then you can just take over a source from there, and if a group doesn't have an article then it would definitely need a source or a {{cn}} tag. Thank you. Pieceofmetalwork (talk) 11:40, 23 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Regarding your recent edit on the 2022 Russina invasion article. The section you edited was originally written with keeping the active fronts at the top of the section and the inactive fronts below them. Could the article maintain the original sequence of fronts for phase two of the invasion. ErnestKrause (talk) 19:59, 8 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Your recent edit to introduce the term 'causus belli', and the removal of section headings appears to have altered the chronological sequence of the presentation of events in that section. I'm reverting at this time to return the chronological dating as it was. The use of your Latin phrase does not appear consistent with the coverage in the international press which follows Russia's declaration of 'special military operations' and not the declaration of war. I'm reverting the section title as well for these reasons. ErnestKrause (talk) 11:36, 20 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia's technical logs indicate that this user account has been or may be used abusively as a sockpuppet of User:Milktaco per the evidence presented at Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Milktaco. It has been blocked indefinitely from editing to prevent abuse.

Note that multiple accounts are allowed, but not for illegitimate reasons, and any contributions made while evading blocks or bans may be reverted or deleted.

I'm not Milktaco and I'm not using any other account Sgnpkd (talk) 17:45, 18 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Accept reason:

I've been reviewing the data (both what's publicly visible and what's restricted to checkusers) and I've come to the conclusion that I'm no longer convinced Sgnpkd is Milktaco. There's extensive editing overlap, but this could plausibly be explained by shared interest in certain topic areas. There's also extensive technical similarities (the details of which I can't divulge) but these too could be plausibly explained by use of the same VPN service. In short, I can't be sure, so I'm going to

WP:AGF and unblock this account. My apologies for the inconvenience. RoySmith (talk) 16:44, 20 February 2024 (UTC)[reply

(Non-administrator comment) Simple denial is not enough for us to believe what you are thinking. You still must address the concerns raised at Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Milktaco. SG5536B (my talk page | my contribs) 01:17, 19 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Also, it was confirmed by technical (Checkuser) evidence that Milktaco = Sgnpkd. How can you even claim that you are not sockpuppeting? SG5536B (my talk page | my contribs) 07:55, 19 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I don't know how it got there but I've been a user since the 2000s, I'm not affiliated with that user by any means. I've been using VPN recently and maybe it has been affecting the result? Other than what should I do to prove I'm not sock-puppeting? Sgnpkd (talk) 09:11, 19 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I just want to acknowledge that I'm aware of this appeal and the case is being discussed off-wiki with other CUs. RoySmith (talk) 18:46, 19 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
WP:SOCKBLOCK and the section below it (Checkuser blocks) for more information. You may also want to describe how you editing pattern and behavior may be similar to that of the sockmaster, if so. SG5536B (my talk page | my contribs) 01:49, 20 February 2024 (UTC)[reply

Hi. I took a look at Miltakco contribs but it seems he was unactive since 2017 so I suppose the investigation was working on his socks, so someone with a certain characteristic of excessive use of quotations and interest on the topic of the relations, oftenly sexually-oriented? between nationalities in ancient China. I think I have came accross this user before and have even edited out some of his excessive quotations in many occassions (Here: [5] and here: [6]) but again, I'm not him. I have only been editing sporadically mainly in East Asian history and ethnography topics. (See my contributions in wiki commons: https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Special:ListFiles/Sgnpkd)
I'm not entirely sure how Checkuser works so I'd appreciate if the admins and technicals would take a look of it. Thank you. Sgnpkd (talk) 15:32, 20 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Name of Rau peoples in Chinese

Hello, I appreciate that you're trying to be helpful by adding different readings of the character 僚 to the intro of Rau peoples. However, the reading liáo is not used for the people group. The people are called Lǎo in Mandarin (see Pronunciation 3 in the Wiktionary entry). This name was originally written with the derogatory character 䝤, but the character was replaced with the more neutral 僚. Even though 僚 is normally read as liáo, when used to refer to the people group, the name is still lǎo. Zhen Zhen (talk) 20:31, 26 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Introduction to contentious topics

You have recently edited a page related to the Balkans or Eastern Europe, a topic designated as

contentious
. This is a brief introduction to contentious topics and does not imply that there are any issues with your editing.

A special set of rules applies to certain topic areas, which are referred to as contentious topics. These are specially designated topics that tend to attract more persistent disruptive editing than the rest of the project and have been designated as contentious topics by the Arbitration Committee. When editing a contentious topic, Wikipedia’s norms and policies are more strictly enforced, and Wikipedia administrators have special powers in order to reduce disruption to the project.

Within contentious topics, editors should edit carefully and constructively, refrain from disrupting the encyclopedia, and:

  • adhere to the purposes of Wikipedia;
  • comply with all applicable policies and guidelines;
  • follow editorial and behavioural best practice;
  • comply with any page restrictions in force within the area of conflict; and
  • refrain from gaming the system.

Editors are advised to err on the side of caution if unsure whether making a particular edit is consistent with these expectations. If you have any questions about contentious topics procedures you may ask them at the

Ctopics/aware
}} template.
