The Military history WikiProject Newsletter Issue XLIII (September 2009)
From the coordinators Greetings to all members of the Military history WikiProject, and to those outside the project who receive this news letter as well! My name is TomStar81, and it with a great sense of pride that I assume the position of lead coordinator for the project. On behalf of all the coordinators, both new and returning, we wish to thank those of you who participated in the September elections, and we look forward to working to advance the goals of the project for the next six months. With the elections concluded, there are two changes. First, Roger Davies has been appointed a coordinator emeritus, joining our first coordinator emeritus Kirill Lokshin. Secondly, for the first time ever, the lead coordinator for the Military history WikiProject will be taking a lengthy wikibreak. For those who were unaware of this, I am an undergraduate student, and will be taking a leave of absence, effective end September, to focus on graduating in December. However, with fourteen coordinators, and two coordinators emeritus, I am confident the needs of the project will be well taken care of. Project news Congratulations go to The_ed17 for successfully passing his Request for Adminship.
Contest Department This month witnessed an all new and improved scoring system and process established in the Contest Department, which has run both smoothly and successfully. A total of 54 articles were entered this month by 11 editors. Radeksz (12) and Ian Rose (11), with our thanks going to Piotrus, Abraham, B.S., Skinny87 and David Underdown , who also fielded entries. All interested editors are encouraged to submit entries for next month's contest; it can be a rather exciting experience!
Awards and honours The WikiChevrons with Oak Leaves has been awarded to Roger Davies for his outstanding leadership of the Military history WikiProject, including his introduction of the logistics department, his dedication to the Tag and Assess 2008 & B-class Assessment Drive efforts, and his astute advice and never-ending support and encouragement as both a coordinator and lead coordinator. The WikiProject Films Newsletter Volume IV, no. 9 - September 2009
Project news Coordinator elections ended on September 28 resulting in seven elected coordinators: main coordinator page . As the new coordinators help to organize the Tag & Assess drive, it has been postponed for at least a week to finalize details. You will be getting a notice soon to alert you to the start of the drive as well as to update your status for the project's annual roll call. Wikipedia:WikiProject Films/Style guidelines . Further opinions would help to determine consensus on how to best improve the guidelines. A popular page list for WP:FILMS is now available on the Wikimedia Toolserver. The list shows which film-related articles are currently receiving the most hits. Page view statistics are updated regularly and will be archived and reset at the end of each month. Manos: The Hands of Fate is currently at featured article review. To ensure that the article keeps its current status, please consider stopping by and helping to address the concerns that have been raised. The project's Films considered the greatest ever, and Fansub . Any positive contributions to these articles will be most welcome. Our project currently has over 61,000 film-related articles, with 56,000 that have been assessed by our Film |class=}} template to a film article's talk page so the project can get a better idea of what work still needs to be done. Below is a table showing a breakdown of our articles by class. Spotlight Update : September was a fairly quiet month with just one article promoted to GA status. In addition, three GAs were delisted. Superman Returns (9/30) Serenity (film) (9/9) X-Men: The Last Stand (9/11) James Bond (film series) (9/28) Member news New members to the project since the last issue include: Balajibose, Garbolia, Krasnoludek & Triprider. Recipients of the WikiProject Films Award: Steve for expanding an article and saving it from deletion; Thefourdotelipsis for creating the missing articles in Michael Curtiz's filmography; LiteraryMaven for expansion of the three film articles based on The Tell-Tale Heart as well as contributing several film-related DYKs over the past month; and Wildhartlivie for bringing articles up to FL/GA status. Remember that any editor can give the WikiProject Films Award to another WP:FILMS member. I see that you had made quite a few pages about "highly populated Indian villages in Kerala". For example, this one. The problem I see is that quite a few of them (perhaps all) have a single reference and it doesnt work. I verified that there is nothing wrong with the data you have given in the articles - Some other page on the same site has the statistics (for example I can navigate Home->Kerala->Kozhikode->Quilandy->Changaroth from the referred page to get the statistics about this village). But the reference will have to be changed on all these pages and I can't think of an easy way to do it. Hoping that you would find the solution.
