There was a comment by you in the peer review regarding "what evidence have they provided for the slaying of the demon thing". I have now changed the sentence structures in that area of the article (that paragraph, also, has been rearranged to a lower part of the section). Would you mind taking a look at the prose? Regards.--Dwaipayan (talk) 15:22, 10 April 2013 (UTC)
Thanks for your comments at PR and support at FLC for Satyajit Ray filmography. The list has been promoted. I appreciate your help. - Vivvt(Talk)13:57, 12 April 2013 (UTC)
Department of Post-War Reconstruction (Australia) in 2009 - which I suspect is some kind of record - I'm certainly pleased to defer to your judgement when you say that a hook is dull ;) (though my most recent DYK attracted over 10,000 views, so I do fluke it from time to time!). Regards, Nick-D (talk) 09:54, 14 April 2013 (UTC)
My recent edits have followed on from reading a review in an Australian newspaper of the movie 'Act of Killing' - if you havent seen the article - it would be appreciated if an eagle eye was applied - it looks like a non local has written it up - classic telltale - sumatera spelling...
my use of 1965 in Indonesia today has been apllied to thing long after that refer to it... do you think that is avalid usage? your opinion, as always, appreciated.
Siska's been telling me to watch the movie... haven't found time yet. I've removed the summary as a probable copyvio of this, which becomes even more evident if we look at when the synopsis was included here. I'm not too sure about your second question, but I think for films we should do as at Pengkhianatan G30S/PKI: include the film's version of events as part of a summary, but if other sources contrast the film's events to actual ones we should contrast them as well. — Crisco 1492 (talk) 04:26, 14 April 2013 (UTC)
If you mean the category, I don't think so as 1965 in Indonesia is for events from that year, not set in that year. Otherwise Kubah, Pengkhianatan G30S/PKI, Ronggeng Dukuh Paruk, and another dozen or so works would have to be there. — Crisco 1492 (talk) 04:37, 14 April 2013 (UTC)
ahah - thanks for clarifying that - now that you phrase it that way I might need to modify some of my edits - appreciate your thoughts on that.
Thank you for notifying me of your proposed deletion of the template I just created; I have responded at the discussion location. I notice that you seem to consistently receive plenty of feedback on your frequent featured article candidates almost immediately upon nomination. Do you know why you receive so much feedback so quickly every time you nominate an article for featured status? I have been nominating articles for featured status as frequently as possible for several months now, and each nomination has dragged on for more than a month and all of the nominations have failed due to lack of discussion. I post notices on the relevant WikiProject talk pages, but still nothing. I would be grateful for any advice you are willing to provide.
Networking, I guess. If you were to neutrally approach editors you know who are active at FAC and ask that they review an article, it's still permitted. Also, you could help review other people's noms. — Crisco 1492 (talk) 00:41, 15 April 2013 (UTC)
Hi Crisco,
I hadn't realized that approaching other editors that way was considered appropriate. I'll probably start reviewing more nominations as well. Are those the two main things you meant by networking? Thanks for the advice.
I wouldn't feel worthy if I didn't work on it at least a little. I'll try and get some more in there either tonight (if I've worked a bit on my mid) or tomorrow. — Crisco 1492 (talk) 12:05, 17 April 2013 (UTC)

Nominated for deletion as a) it's previously published, on a fully copyrighted page or in a way assumed to have full copyright and b) there's no evidence the uploader is the copyright owner — Crisco 1492 (talk) 22:41, 17 April 2013 (UTC)
Crisco, I'm hoping this catches you before you're off for the night.
This is the lead hook in Prep 3, and features an image of a sculpture by a living German sculptor. I'm not quite sure how this is possible, even if European laws would allow it—the other two pictures are outdoors, and it's possible this might also be public art of some kind, but it's such a tight shot I'm wondering whether such a reason could be used—because it's there's no justification for any of the three images from Commons including this one, just an "own work" listing. Since you're an expert on Commons and that sort of thing, I'm hoping you can deal with it properly.
It's an odd prep set: there are two Great Eastern Hotel hooks (for English and Indian hotels of the same name), and the Rihanna album hook frankly makes no sense: how can a just-released "reloaded" album have a 930% increase in sales? (The reload couldn't, since it's brand new; the original album might have, or the rules may combine the sales of the two. I'm not clear on this, and neither is the hook.) Unfortunately, I have to leave the house shortly for several hours, so I don't have time to sort all this out. I'm hoping I can leave this in your hands, because I won't be able to get back to it for quite a while. BlueMoonset (talk) 14:33, 17 April 2013 (UTC)
K, just opened Wikipedia. Luisenpark seems to be mostly (if not wholely) outdoors, and Germany offers FoP for both statues and buildings so the image would have been fine. I'll try to check out the Rihanna album. I think the Great Eastern Hotels are for the "WTF" factor. — Crisco 1492 (talk) 22:45, 17 April 2013 (UTC)
Thanks for handling the Rihanna hook. As for the Oswald sculpture, it seems odd to me that a work of art can be considered public domain when it's out in public, even if there's no attempt to show it in that context (it looks like it's in a museum even though it's not), but the law doesn't necessarily have to make sense, it just has to be the law, and your explanation of why it shouldn't be an issue here in the US where the law is different was very helpful. I'll try to remember that for future hooks. BlueMoonset (talk) 01:26, 18 April 2013 (UTC)
It's not "public domain" per se, but not a violation of copyright to reproduce the statues in 2D. I believe the logic behind it is that statues' worth and receipt of copyright is based on them being 3D; 2D representations may be thought to not impair the copyright holder's ability to enjoy the proceedings of his or her art. Generally this is limited to permanently (no clear definition, generally years) situated works. The US only allows freedom of panorama for buildings; 2- and 3D works of art in the US are fully protected under US copyright. Some countries, such as France, don't allow any FOP. — Crisco 1492 (talk) 09:11, 18 April 2013 (UTC)
It's on the Main page for more than an hour with the unknown and unpictured Heinrich Vetter - please remove the name from the listing, end on "and Hildegard of Bingen", --Gerda Arendt (talk) 09:18, 18 April 2013 (UTC)
Thank you! Did you know that the model for his sculpture Christus in the Mainz Cathedral is a ballet dancer with African roots? (and you see it) --Gerda Arendt (talk) 10:07, 18 April 2013 (UTC)
DYKSTATS if it got over 5,000. If you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please suggest it on the Did you know? talk page.
You're right on both counts. Noted. Don't be afraid to post your concerns on the nomination page; they were dead on. — Crisco 1492 (talk) 11:18, 19 April 2013 (UTC)
No guarantees, although I've noticed the discussion already. BTW, is Sholay related to the Arabic word for "devout"? — Crisco 1492 (talk) 04:46, 20 April 2013 (UTC)
Unlikely. I am not sure about the root of the word Sholay. It is not used in Bengali language (which is my mother tongue), so not so strong on such words. If anything, it is likely to be related to some Persian word, as loads of Persi words are in north Indian languages.--Dwaipayan (talk) 04:51, 20 April 2013 (UTC)
Definitely! I'll try to review Sholay later, but for now you may want to trim the cast list and ensure "classic" is well supported. — Crisco 1492 (talk) 05:15, 20 April 2013 (UTC)
Replied there. Better to take the safe route, especially since there is no indication that the changes were done by the uploader. — Crisco 1492 (talk) 00:45, 22 April 2013 (UTC)
Thanks, Crisco. Nominator has now swapped the image as per your suggestion, so it looks fine now. I'm afraid I'm useless at image licenses!
Thanks, at a quick glance, they look helpful. A quick heads up, there seem to be problems with the DYKQ - I think Casliber might be working on the duplicated hooks but a problem with another hook (the mammoth 16 article one) has just been flagged on the DYK discussion page.
Hey Crisco, are recordings of public press conferences copyrighted? In this case, the recordings appear to have been later collected and released on an album: [2] and [3], for example. This came up in the review for the Bowie album Never Let Me Down; just curious whether these links are permissible or whether the album's info should simply be cited without a link. Thanks! -- Khazar2 (talk) 20:26, 21 April 2013 (UTC)
I hate audio files . Copyright depends on who recorded it, who was reading, any background music (doubtful for a press conference), and the content of the speech. The recorder has a copyright for that specific recording, the reader has copyright over how the work was presented, and the writer has copyright over the specific contents. In this case (without opening the file, poor connection) I think it would be safest to avoid giving links as the uploader may own a copyright on a recording, but the text and presentation are likely not his or hers. Any decently sized, human-created text is enough to attract copyright, no matter the degree of originality. A press conference is an essay is a short story. — Crisco 1492 (talk) 00:35, 22 April 2013 (UTC)
I've just completed (or at least good enough to be moved from userspace) a revised version of Eisenhower dollar. Want to do the usual on a DYK nom? It looks like 5x from here.--Wehwalt (talk) 10:32, 22 April 2013 (UTC)
Actual prose size? I was comparing the DYKcheck results for both pages, which is coming up short. The script doesn't count quotes either. — Crisco 1492 (talk) 15:48, 22 April 2013 (UTC)
While the collecting section needs padding, I don't think I can add 3.3k. Still, I'll look around and see what I can do in the next three four days.--Wehwalt (talk) 01:41, 23 April 2013 (UTC)
Looks like it go promoted, and then PumpkinSky banished it from the lead slot because the image was impossible to see to the final slot in the last prep. You can see the discussion at
WT:DYK#Prep 3 photo
.
I think this hook is long enough that the prep set ought to be only five hooks, not six, but can't judge whether a crop of the photo (the elephants on the right side of the main bas-relief could make a nice, 340x240 image that might look decent at 100x100 (about 100x70 visible), though the crop would have to be made and loaded. Can I leave this in your hands? The hook would be a good fit timewise in the new prep 3 after the current one is promoted to a queue. Thank you very much. BlueMoonset (talk) 01:51, 23 April 2013 (UTC)
Thanks, Crisco. I think I was wrong, though. The two elephants one doesn't look as good as I'd hoped—the rock and carved sections don't make that strong a contrast—and the single elephant, while okay as an elephant despite the mediocre contrast, doesn't give a sense of the monument at all, which I think would be the reason you'd want an image in the first place. I appreciate your doing the crops; I'd actually been thinking of an image that included more of the relief face, and I see that won't work at all at that size. Since PumpkinSky has moved the hook to the second slot of Prep 2, I'm reasonably content—the slot runs during local morning and midday, which is perhaps even better than Prep 3 in terms of timing—so let's leave it where it is. (It's an odd prep set, I must say: none of the hooks is in the least bit quirky, and the final three involve a public hanging, a recently deceased cinematographer, and a sinkhole that killed 15 people. Unfortunately, I won't have time to deal with it today.) BlueMoonset (talk) 14:15, 23 April 2013 (UTC)
Ultimately, it's not a problem. While I think it's nice to place such huge multi-article hooks first, if there isn't a good image, there shouldn't be a guarantee. I'm getting to feel that such large hooks—upwards of ten articles—are a bit of an imposition: they take a month or more to review, and suck up a lot of energy into a single hook that could instead power a dozen. BlueMoonset (talk) 14:58, 23 April 2013 (UTC)
Why not bring it up at WT:DYK? I think there'd be some support for the idea... the US dinosaur one was the straw that broke the horse's back for most people. — Crisco 1492 (talk) 15:40, 23 April 2013 (UTC)

I added your DYK nomination of Tirto Adhi Soerjo to Prep 2 without realising it had been requested for a specific date. I apologise! If you are bothered about it appearing on a different date, you are much more capable of righting the matter than I am. Cwmhiraeth (talk) 10:57, 25 April 2013 (UTC)
Hey there - I've been reverting an anon editor for a little while at this article. One who likes to post listings of hotels and malls and other non-encyclopedic, um, stuff. Hi Crisco, thanks for encouraging me (as the
Radical centrism
page's primary editor) to reduce the list of See Also's there. You are right, it was time ... have now done so.
And thanks for informing me that the Mark Satin-counseling-draft-dodgers picture will be on the main page May 14. What great news. The photographer took it as a young woman just after arriving in Toronto from the U.S. - she'll be thrilled, I'll let her know ASAP. I think the caption as it stands is fine (nor too short, not too long, not POV), and I've been monitoring the Satin page pretty regularly, so I think we'll be fine there also. - Babel41 (talk) 05:37, 28 April 2013 (UTC)

Based on your second comment, I have rephrased the sentence. Is it fine now?
In your fourth comment you said that "significant screen innovation which has charmed millions and pioneered a great new entertainment field for the motion picture cartoon" would not be NPOV. The thing is I could the quote directly, as it was, from Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (you can see the source). So I can't really do anything about it. Do you have an alternate solution?
In your sixth comment you told me that this image, would be a nice replacement for the image I have used right now. But for that I need to confirm that there was no copyright symbol on the trailer. Can you tell me how to do that?
I'll see if I have time for a prose check later. I don't support based on image checks alone, although if your question is about images you should note that I crossed out the only issue. — Crisco 1492 (talk)

It's only been up a week, right? For FAC right now that's not surprising. A lot of the hardcore reviewers are busy elsewhere. — Crisco 1492 (talk) 02:29, 5 May 2013 (UTC)
Check it over, you'll see that, so far, I've done my best to respond to all comments at the FAC. Unless you have any other suggestions for additional ways to respond to and address those comments? Do you see my point-by-point responses? Do you think I've adequately and sufficiently addressed points raised at the FAC so far? — Cirt (talk) 02:58, 5 May 2013 (UTC)
I think you've gotten the majority of her comments; I'm not that detailed when it comes to references so there may be something missing. Doesn't look it though. — Crisco 1492 (talk) 03:21, 5 May 2013 (UTC)
Okay thanks for that feedback, that's encouraging. I've addressed the bulk of the next set by Neelix (talk·contribs), about to update back at the FAC page soon. — Cirt (talk) 05:03, 5 May 2013 (UTC)
Added a minor update on the image check section, per comments below in the FAC by Neelix (talk·contribs). Also, responded (so far) to all incoming comments. Everything should be addressed now. :) — Cirt (talk) 18:44, 6 May 2013 (UTC)
Update: Nikkimaria (talk·contribs) has stricken his oppose and acknowledged that the article has improved enough for him to do so. Do you think you could reevaluate your position at this point in time? Thank you, — Cirt (talk) 20:07, 6 May 2013 (UTC)
Okay, thank you, that'd be most appreciated. If you feel like doing any copyediting at all, that'd be most appreciated as well. — Cirt (talk) 22:34, 6 May 2013 (UTC)
DYK for Si Ronda
DYKSTATS if it got over 5,000. If you know of another interesting fact from a recently created article, then please suggest it on the Did you know? talk page.
I responded to your prose comments, at the FAC subpage.
Your recommendations were all good and I did not object to any of them.
Therefore, I just simply implemented all of those changes directly to the article itself.
Hopefully the prose is improving to the point that one or two perhaps out of the 100,000 Wikipedians that are active in existence on this planet might one day think the article is worthy of
I noticed that you changed an image out at both of those articles. The image that you replaced does also happen to be a FP (although only on two wikis and wiki commons), and it shows better on the Manhattan and NYC articles, being that it's such a small image in those places. So the borderless version has better visibility and is still a FP, and thus I suggest that you put the cropped image back.
Feel free to revert, but the bordered version is the one promoted on the English Wikipedia and it is the one which will be on the main page in... oh, about two years. If it is not in those articles, then those articles will not be chosen for the main page bold link. The standard is to replace alternatives with passed FPs, although this can be reverted by those who maintain the articles. As for why the bordered version was passed on the English Wikipedia and not the borderless version, please see the nomination. — Crisco 1492 (talk) 11:19, 7 May 2013 (UTC)
I'll see if I can get to it later, if a friendly TPS hasn't reached it yet. I was almost supposed to be an extra in that film... — Crisco 1492 (talk) 11:21, 7 May 2013 (UTC)
Good catch of that situation with the tract housing FPs. It took me awhile to sort out how each of those images are different, tagged, used, etc. Pine✉18:53, 7 May 2013 (UTC)

Hi Crisco, I've re-scanned at a higher spec and had a bit of a clean up of the T-T image. I've got absolutely no idea about the standards of the FPC criteria. I think there are some which this passes fairly easily, but when it talks about "high technical standard" I have no frame of reference for what is considered "high". Is the image too poor quality to think about a future FPC, or is it a viable prospect. Cheers! - SchroCat (talk) 07:59, 8 May 2013 (UTC)
I don't think this version, as it stands, is a viable FP. It's not very sharp at full size, which is the first thing they'd look at (did you use one of those artistic filters?) — Crisco 1492 (talk) 12:32, 8 May 2013 (UTC)
No, it's not gone through any filtering process at all, just scanning and touching up the page imperfections. - SchroCat (talk) 16:33, 8 May 2013 (UTC)
Hmm... well, you could give it a try. They'd probably love to have an English actor featured... we don't have many. — Crisco 1492 (talk) 22:51, 8 May 2013 (UTC)
We've now reached the end of any limited technical knowledge I have! (let alone any of the requisite software) Is there a page that talks through this for idiots like me to understand? A sort of "Image processing and improving for Wiki-Dummies"? I'd like to get this brushed up a little more, if possible and am happy to take advice from all quarters! Cheers - SchroCat (talk) 08:06, 9 May 2013 (UTC)
Did someone mention a possible FPC? Sharpen definatly I would say. I have no idea of the criteria; I took Holloway's lead image there last year, but it was dismissed from the word go. -- CassiantoTalk08:32, 9 May 2013 (UTC)
Sepuluh? nah, oldie [5] me thinks it needs a big chop - but hey - I am no coward ... :) - just the unencylopedic nature of the addition - and the verghing on an edit war there i thunk... up to you ...
If, we have a spare hour over coffee or otherwise in HK I can give you the full spiel on the mysteries of graves and their inhabitants or not - for most of southeast asia - it is probably a book that I will never write, so if we can we must find the time - there are some very interesting bits and pieces... btw dont be suprised if you have to limit editing on that article - if you look on the edit history - it looks like there have been... some previous attempts...

Hi, how is it going with this search? It doesn't seem from the Ref Desk posts that anyone turned up the book? If you still want to go through as many of Xavier de Montépin's books as possible, I can help you, just let me know which books. A lot are on google books. 184.147.137.171 (talk) 19:43, 12 May 2013 (UTC)
Thanks for the offer, but I'm concerned we won't be able to conclusively determine which work. I currently have "... a third work, Pembalasan dendam Hati, had extensive parallels with a work by Xavier de Montépin translated as De Wraak van de Koddebeier (The Gamekeeper's Revenge)." in the article, which will have to suffice (or I could remove the sentence altogether) — Crisco 1492 (talk) 23:47, 12 May 2013 (UTC)
Thanks! I'll give it one last hurrah (I'll try and track down Salmon's book, as suggested at the reference desk... hopefully it won't be too difficult) — Crisco 1492 (talk) 00:44, 13 May 2013 (UTC)

Vandalism at the Mark Satin bio
Dear Crisco, - A ciuple of hours into the Mark Satin draft-dodger picture being posted on the Wikipedia main page, there is vandalism on the Mark Satin page: infobox is missing, main picture is missing, and Arabic lettering has been inserted before the min text.
I have never tried to reverse other people's edits, but I will try. Of course, that may only infuriate the vandal(s), and it's nearly midnight here and I lack the stamina to stay up and keep minitoring this. Can you help? And can we get a lock on the Satin page, at least temporarily? I feel foolish - should have asked for this earlier, it was so predictable that this would happen - war evaders are not this planet's most favorite people, I'm afraid. - Babel41 (talk) 06:54, 14 May 2013 (UTC)

We demand that you update our Wiki entry to say "Private University" - our true classification - and stop labeling us a for-profit career college. We will not hesitate to subpoena all of your true identities again in federal court. We've already been assisted in bringing down the Controversy section of our page due to our cyber-stalkers spreading lies about us. Just because our investors are Mormon does not mean we are a Mormon school. And just because one of our directors was investigated for fraud and bribery years ago does not mean our school deserves a Controversy section on Wikipedia. We will continue to fight anyone who attacks our school on the internet. You have been warned. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Lymani (talk • contribs) 18:14, 19 May 2013 (UTC)
I remember. I'm the one who full-protected the page while the subpoena was up. Say, Ed, could you check Af Chapman (ship)? There are paraphrasing concerns on the talk page and I'm a dolt when it comes to writing about ships. — Crisco 1492 (talk) 23:29, 19 May 2013 (UTC)
Well, assuming the reference is good (I have no way to check it), that's the general way the early history of a ship is summarized in every book. The only thing missing is the date of

Anyway, hope this one will go on the requested date! --Tito Dutta (contact) 23:12, 21 May 2013 (UTC)

It seems that some people never tire of creating a scene over the over-preponderance or otherwise of Gibraltar articles. I'm occasionally amused at the statistics that are churned out, perhaps in some attempt to institutionalise a sort of quota system for articles by nation. You may have seen my contributions page :). They were not willing to review my articles. Moreover , it was just the request for reviewing and if you do so ,you are free to pass or fail the article (whatever the option may be) anyhow i dont feel that i have done a great thing in nominating these articles , it is for the common good and my understanding of improving the quality of articles .
Actually, most of those showed up in my Watchlist. I suggest, at the moment, making sure the articles are stable and well-written while waiting for a reviewer to come. — Crisco 1492 (talk) 11:26, 23 May 2013 (UTC)

Great! Well I have a special request for the 100th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide. I would like this picture to be featured on the main page on April 24, 2015 which is the day that will mark its 100 year anniversary. But it just seems so far away...is it possible to have it scheduled for April 24, 2014 as well? Proudbolsahye (talk) 01:37, 26 May 2013 (UTC)
Images only run in POTD once, so it would probably be best to wait for 2015 (we can schedule that far ahead, so no technical issue) — Crisco 1492 (talk) 01:39, 26 May 2013 (UTC)
Great! Okay schedule it for April 24, 2015. Is it possible to have a special header for the picture saying "Today is the 100 year anniversary of the Armenian Genocide" or something of that sort? Proudbolsahye (talk) 01:41, 26 May 2013 (UTC)
Okay but are we set for April 24, 2015? And is there anyway we can inform the public that it is the 100th anniversary? Proudbolsahye (talk) 04:46, 26 May 2013 (UTC)
Yep, it's scheduled here. You can add the blurb if you want; just make sure to keep it neutral. We can state the year it occurred (1915), but a date would be pushing it (especially since there were multiple events) — Crisco 1492 (talk) 04:53, 26 May 2013 (UTC)
You just have to click the edit button at the top (like normal) and write the appropriate text next to the line where it says "|caption=". An example can be seen at Template:POTD/2013-03-15. You can safely ignore the other fields. — Crisco 1492 (talk) 05:20, 26 May 2013 (UTC)

I don't mind doing it - I've just nominated another, which is my first FPC, so once that goes through I'll pop in the other image. Cheers! - SchroCat (talk) 12:38, 30 May 2013 (UTC)
No, you're right. The reviewer promoted the hook he reviewed, which is a big no-no. Feel free to stop by the nomination and express your concerns about the neutrality / appropriateness of the hook. — Crisco 1492 (talk) 15:15, 30 May 2013 (UTC)

Hi, I noticed that we're both active in building sets for DYK, and that today I nearly added a prep area when you had already started editing it, which would have been immensely inconvenient for you had you edit-conflicted with me. Do you think it would be worth it establishing a convention of adding the {{In use}} or similar to a set before editing or would this be more hassle than it's worth? --GilderienChat|List of good deeds23:17, 30 May 2013 (UTC)
It might be worth discussing at WT:DYK. When, exactly, was this? If it was what is now queue 1, that may have been an issue indeed. — Crisco 1492 (talk) 23:24, 30 May 2013 (UTC)
I'll try and leave a template next time (didn't expect anyone to be building as we were already at 4 empty preps) — Crisco 1492 (talk) 23:37, 30 May 2013 (UTC)
Ok, I'll do the same. I suppose I could copy the entire page before saving, so if there is a problem I can just paste it into another prep set, is there anything that is specific to which set it is or are they all the same?--GilderienChat|List of good deeds23:40, 30 May 2013 (UTC)
Hello crisco. Hope you don't forget me. After a long time, finally I am back on wikipedia. I was out of it due to some reasons. I am here to tell you that I have complected my next task i.e. two fold an article. So please See it[7] and give your reviews. Thank you. Sorry for my earlier disappearance.
Hi Crisco 1492, I see you contributed to the above DYK review. The original editor (Tobias 1984) seems to have been put off DYK for ever; meanwhile, the IP editor (it seems clear there is only one) is vehemently opposing the DYK which seems to other reviewers including both of us to be of acceptable quality.
The IP claims geological knowledge, and asserts multiple copyvios. If the latter is true - I've asked for details - then of course they must be removed. The IP is insisting on the article's being error-free and "good geology and geography", which is way above DYK level. For me, this is basically disruptive behaviour, and certainly very time-consuming, leaving out the effect it had on Tobias 1984; I remain agnostic as to whether the IP is correct or not about the geology.
The IP has several IP addresses, and at some of them has raised similar but not such long-lasting issues on at least one other DYK.
Replied there. The whole nomination is a mess. Short and sweet: assertion of copyvio needs to be backed up, major errors need to be pointed out, and if either are confirmed they need to be cleaned up. — Crisco 1492 (talk) 00:27, 2 June 2013 (UTC)
Thank you for stepping in, Crisco. Well, I did step in by giving the nom a question mark. Who knows what could have the articles and nomination happened if we both have not stepped in? What do you think? By the way, I want to give you a beer or a barnstar, but I can't find which. --George Ho (talk) 01:00, 2 June 2013 (UTC)
Thanks is enough. I'm curious about the editor's reply, as I dropped a pretty big gauntlet.03:32, 2 June 2013 (UTC)

Crisco, this still needs a COI/promotional review component; I was wondering whether you could supply it, so the article could then be promoted (assuming there is neither COI nor any promotional aspect to the article). Thanks.
Incidentally, I restored the Gibraltar sections of the special occasion holding area, which had apparently been unilaterally deleted by SpinningSpark a couple of weeks ago. I think I would have noticed an RfC on Gibraltar; absent that, this section needs to hang around until the restrictions are repealed. BlueMoonset (talk) 06:15, 2 June 2013 (UTC)
Agree about reinstating such a section. I had intended to mention the COI/promotional aspect, but I guess I wasn't explicit enough — Crisco 1492 (talk) 08:21, 2 June 2013 (UTC)
The emphasis on neutrality might cover promotional (though it's a stretch), but someone can write with perfect neutrality while still having a conflict of interest; they're really two different things. Thanks for adding an explicit comment. BlueMoonset (talk) 15:02, 2 June 2013 (UTC)

We are currently running a study on the effects of adding additional information to SuggestBot's suggestions. Participation in the study is voluntary. Should you wish to not participate in the study, or have questions or concerns, you can find contact information on the SuggestBot study page.
IMPORTANT CHANGES: We have modified the selection of articles SuggestBot suggests and altered the design to incorporate more information about the articles, as described in this explanation.
Note: All columns in this table are sortable, allowing you to rearrange the table so the articles most interesting to you are shown at the top. All images have mouse-over popups with more information.
We have changed the number of suggested articles and which categories they are selected from. The number of stubs has been greatly reduced, the number of articles needing sources doubled, and two new categories added (orphans and unencyclopaedic articles). We have also modified the layout of the suggestions and added sortable columns with various types of information about each article. The first two columns are:
Views/Day
Daily average number of views an article's had over the past 14 days.
Quality
Predicted article quality on a 1- to 3-star scale. Placing your cursor over the stars should give you a pop-up describing the article's quality (Low/Medium/High), current
assessment class
, and predicted assessment class.
The method we use to predict article quality also allows us to assess whether an article might need specific types of work in order to improve its quality. The work needed might not correspond to cleanup tags added to the article, since our method is not based on those. We have added five columns reflecting this work assessment, where a red X indicates improvement is needed. Placing your cursor over an X should give you a pop-up with a short description of the work needed. The five columns seek to answer the following five questions:
Content
Is more content needed?
Headings
Does this article have an appropriate section structure?
Images
Is the number of illustrative images about right?
Links
Does this article link to enough other Wikipedia articles?
Sources
For its length, is there an appropriate number of citations to sources in this article?
SuggestBot picks articles in a number of ways based on other articles you've edited, including straight text similarity, following wikilinks, and matching your editing patterns against those of other Wikipedians. It tries to recommend only articles that other Wikipedians have marked as needing work. We appreciate that you have signed up to receive suggestions regularly, your contributions make Wikipedia better — thanks for helping!
The paraphrasing looks a little close... statements like " industrial activity, construction activity, generator sets, loud speakers, public address systems, music systems, vehicular horns and other mechanical devices have deleterious effects on human health." seem to have been copied verbatim. — Crisco 1492 (talk) 03:45, 5 June 2013 (UTC)
Crisco, sorry. I'm glad to see someone else did it; I saw your note just before something urgent dropped in my lap, and I never did get back to Wikipedia after that until now. How is five times expansion calculated for DYK? By word count? I'm trying to expand a longish page and if word count I might make it, though g-books finally died on me, so maybe not. Anyway, just wondering. Thanks. Victoria (talk) 01:47, 5 June 2013 (UTC)

Thanks, for some reason the tool I have (Dr PDA) only shows 23kb, not 23,454 - so I didn't know. No room for tightening the writing though, that's for sure! Victoria (talk) 00:45, 6 June 2013 (UTC)
I created the article Colorado Springs Business Journal and found that there are images of newspapers and journals on commons with the {{Non-free newspaper image|image has rationale=yes}} tag. I tried to upload the image (from here), with that tag. On preview, I saw that the image would be a candidate for immediate deletion because it was a disallowed fair use image.
How might I go about getting an image that would be able to be used without a copyright concern?
This is certainly not "disallowed". Do you want to use this particular image? Personally, I'd take an established scan (i.e. like at The Jakarta Post) then upload using the exact same rationale, only changing the source and name of the newspaper. You can use the plain form for that. — Crisco 1492 (talk) 18:11, 5 June 2013 (UTC)
Looks good. My only suggestion would be to reduce the image's size a little (perhaps down to 300px wide), as all the extra pixels are going to waste — Crisco 1492 (talk) 19:35, 5 June 2013 (UTC)
I'm a little confused, ok maybe more than a little confused. Within the article, the size is set to 200px. If you mean change the pixels in the actual file, do you mean resize within a photoeditor and upload the image again? (I could reduce by a percentage, but I don't know how to resize by pixels. I've never been able to figure out how to upload a new version of a file). Thanks!--CaroleHenson (talk) 19:43, 5 June 2013 (UTC)
Never mind the part about uploading a new version. I see on Wikipedia (vs. commons) there's a button that can be clicked to upload a new version.--CaroleHenson (talk) 19:50, 5 June 2013 (UTC)
