Edit warring by IP 69.116.73.107

With this edit, IP user 69.116.73.107 has engaged in edit warring. I have warned him at his user talk page. NedFausa (talk) 22:20, 19 January 2021 (UTC)

There's going to be disagreement over how people are categorized. There are currently 3 votes for a single list above. I propose keeping the single list on the article until there's a consensus to subdivide names in any way. ---Another Believer (Talk) 22:26, 19 January 2021 (UTC)

Subdivided list

For anyone who might find it useful, I am posting the subdivided January 18, 2021, list here. Names marked with § were included in the July 3, 2020, executive order. NedFausa (talk) 03:07, 20 January 2021 (UTC)

@NedFausa: Do you mind if I archive this section? Of course, the markup will be kept for future reference, but this way the table of contents won't be stretched because of all the subsection headings? Thanks, ---Another Believer (Talk) 15:25, 9 February 2021 (UTC)

@Another Believer: Sounds good. Please archive. Thanks. NedFausa (talk) 16:36, 9 February 2021 (UTC)

Undivided list

For anyone who might find it useful, and until it can be added to Trump's executive orders at Wikisource (which I don't know how to do), I am posting the undivided January 18, 2021, list here, sorted alphabetically by surname and wikilinked for convenience. Names marked with § were included in the July 3, 2020, executive order. NedFausa (talk) 19:43, 19 January 2021 (UTC)

Thank you! ---Another Believer (Talk) 20:22, 19 January 2021 (UTC)

With this edit the preceding undivided January 18, 2021, list was incorporated in its entirety into the article space, rendering this section of the talk page superfluous. NedFausa (talk) 03:30, 20 January 2021 (UTC)

Overlapping categories

Taft was both president and Supreme Court Chief Justice. Davy Crockett was a congressman. Jim Thorpe was a Native American. Not sure if any should be double-listed or redesignated. 24.198.138.81 (talk) 20:18, 19 January 2021 (UTC)

Right, this is the problem with arbitrary/subjective categories. ---Another Believer (Talk) 20:24, 19 January 2021 (UTC)
What a trivial objection. Taft is primarily known for having been president. Davy Crockett is not remembered mainly as a congressman. Jim Thorpe's heroics were as an athlete, not as a Native American. NedFausa (talk) 20:52, 19 January 2021 (UTC)
NedFausa, No, this is important. I imagine soon enough we'll start seeing sources with commentary on the total number of women, the total number of African Americans, total number of former presidents, etc. These will allow us to add claims about specific groups of people. See National_Statuary_Hall_Collection#Demographics. We don't need to subdivide the group just because. ---Another Believer (Talk) 21:05, 19 January 2021 (UTC)
