My changes
Since my revision was reverted, I thought I would explain my changes. First paragraph; header removed as per style guide. First instance of name in bold as per style guide. users can sign up and upload, watch, rate, review and share videos. - It's a video sharing site then. The 'features' section was just a little sloppy so I edited that without losing any information, and it wasn't large enough to warrant a subsection.
External links formatted as per style guide. 'Similar websites' moved to See also, as per style guide. Marasmusine 23:27, 6 November 2006 (UTC)

I removed that section because Daily Motion previously allowed sexually explicit materials provided the user was registered and claimed to be over 18 but recently changed it.
Isn't that for pornography rather than showing boobs etc

Added images verifying their deceptive placement on google
Dailymotion shows up up the top of the following google searches: share your sex videos and share your masturbation videos. Yes their terms of service prohibit such content. I've updated the main article to reflect this, but I'm mentioning it here since my past edits have been removed. I've put them back on yet again. But here are links to the images in case another deletion takes place:

p.s. On the issue of 'no porn,' as far as I can tell they've always banned it, in spite of their apparently deceptive placement at google - as per what I've documented as per my screen captures.
Just a quick note, Porn is alive and well on dailymotion, the sexy channel is full of it. Note: if you can't get the sexy channel just when you click on channels it means you are being blocked, for whatever reason. Motion Maker Link?

Resolution

URL redirecting
The URLs in the table redirect depending on location of ISP used. I added a cleanup tag and a bold notice so that users are not surprised when it happens.
For what it's worth here is my limited Original research to show what redirects from where. I could not find any comment on this behaviour from a quick google. I noticed that www.dailymotion.pl (not mentioned in the article) does not suffer redirects, at least not from Italian, United Kingdom and United States ISPs.

This is weird
Everytime I go to Dailymotion, It redirects me to
]- I joined years ago. Was told my password was no good today. I was told I had successfully changed it and I could log in. I did so and then a screen appeared inviting me to sign in. I repeated the sign in ceremony, same result. Maybe it should be called Strange Motion1archie99 (talk) 13:09, 16 August 2013 (UTC)

"Blocked" sale to the Chinese
In April 2015, there was talk of a potential sale to PCCW but the French government insisted "that the telecoms operator explore “all options” before siding with a non-European buyer". This could be mentioned in the 'History' section.

- No I don't work for Dailymotion, and this is a classic failure to assume good faith. The reason why this edit was reverted is that it uses a blog source. Also, separate criticism/controversy sections are not good Wikipedia writing style. The sourcing on the fine is not ideal, and according to this source Dailymotion was fined €1.3 million after a court ruling by the Paris Court of Appeal confirmed copyright infringement.[2]. - There is a Reddit thread about this here and it looks like the comments feature for videos was dropped a few months ago. One Redditor says "No more comment sections on Dailymotion. But that’s fine because no comment section is better than your average YouTube comment section IMHO." Fair point, if most of the comments are rubbish/spam/trolling it is better not to have them at all.--♦IanMacM♦ (talk to me)
720p limit for mobile users
It appears that around the time of the rebranding, May 10th or 11th, mobile viewers were restricted to watching at up to 720p. Options for video resolutions above 720p are no longer available to mobile viewers. Previously, 1080p and 1440p and even 2160p were available to them. Perhaps Dailymotion thought anything beyond 720p makes little difference on screens of that size.
I first thought this is a temporary issue, but it has remained that way after several days. This limitation has not yet been documented in credible sources, but as soon as it is, I will add it to the article. Elominius (talk) 20:34, 15 May 2023 (UTC)
On an additional note, the 144p and 240p transcoding options that served remote locations with a very low bandwidth were removed in late 2022, for both desktop and mobile users. I remember that 144p video was served at what looked like only 10 to 15 frames per second and with low sampling rate audio. As of writing, the lowest available option is "380p" (sic.). Technically, it is 384p, so it appears they want consistency with the other options, all of which have numbers that are multiples of ten.
My closest guess for the reason behind the removal is that too few users from low-bandwidth countries visited Dailymotion. It looks like this has not been reported in a credible source. Vertical video downscaling
It appears that Dailymotion scales vertical videos down so their height matches that of horizontal videos, instead of swapping the width and the height like YouTube does. Dailymotion's "2160p" for vertical videos is not actually 2160×3840 but it is downscaled to 1216×2160, which is not much above the pixel count of 1080p. Vertical "1440p" is not 1440×2560 as one would expect, but 808×1440 (example: FR22238935UHD). Not that one should film vertically anyway, since it ruins the watching experience on anything besides smartphones. This could be the reason no one has noticed it so far: people (including myself) don't like to watch vertical videos to begin with.
