Request for Help

Hi Friend! I wanted to create a Template for "Google Hangouts" [1], but by mistake, i created a Category page [2] . Now i want to blank/delete the Category page and move its contents to the Template Page. Can you help me do this or provide me with any links for such a transfer procedure - a set of instructions that me let me do so? Currently, i can create the Template page directly, but i want to see instead if moving this category page to the desired template page is allowed/possible.

Also, i want this page deleted asap --> Template:Latest stable release/Google Spreadsheets. This author/creator of the page too has agreed. But there has been no progress regarding it. the article have been tagged appropriately for Deletion/Redirect. But this process seems too slow to me. 2014 Hockey World Cup Qualification

Hi, let me explain you how the qualification process is so you can see why India is not yet qualified. This FIH link explains it perfectly.

If Korea wins the continental championship, as they already qualified through the World League Semifinal, that quota will be given to the next placed team in the World League Semifinal final ranking that has not yet qualified. See this

Even though India is higher in the World Rankings than Malaysia, they enden 6th in their Semifinal, when Malaysia finished 5th. Therefore they qualify before India. The only way the World Ranking is taken as a tie braker is when the quota has to be given to one of two teams that ended equally ranked in their respective Semifinal. Example: When Germany won European championship, as they had already qualified, that quota had to be awarded to one of the teams that had finished 5th in the Semifinals. As Spain was higher ranked, they qualified.

Re: Move: Chennaiyin FC

Hello Karthikndr, I understand where you are coming from here in terms of the name, however, since all official sources refer to them as "FC" we have to go with "FC" unless that changes. As for other clubs, it depends. In England they use "F.C." and thus a lot of Europe and even the I-League but some clubs in say, MLS, use "FC" like Seattle Sounders FC. The Wikimedia Foundation is currently running a consultation on the value and planning process of Wikimania, and is open until 18 January 2016. The goals are to (1) build a shared understanding of the value of Wikimania to help guide conference planning and evaluation, and (2) gather broad community input on what new form(s) Wikimania could take (starting in 2018).

Asian 10,000 Challenge invite

It's been almost an year since "Indian collaboration of the month" was active. Firstly we need to restart this as soon as possible for development of India-related articles to greater heights. The members page was blanked, where many of them are inactive. This mass message is to all the members of WikiProject India, about this and interested editors interested will sign up. After this message gets delivered, we'll wait for 7 days before we start a discussion under a thread on the collaboration's talk page, among the members. The discussion will include what to clean-up of sub-pages, a new set of guidelines for smooth and uninterrupted functioning of the collaboration etc. Please keep all the discussions under this thread only, so that it will easier for future reference. Request for name change

Hi,

I got your details through Wikipedia's list of active Asian editors, and since you are online, I am reaching out to you as a new Wikipedia member (and not user). I made an account to edit a particular page, but I realised that only auto confirmed users can change the title of the page, using the 'Move' tab. Since I do not have the privilege to do that, I was hoping you would.

My issue is with a particular page titled 'Gorakshanath' which should actually be named, 'Gorakhnath'. Understandably, this is a sinister political shenanigan that is an attempt to impose the right-wing ideology of go-raksha (cow protection) down our throats. Please change the name at the earliest, if you can. It is a serious issue. This is how it starts!

Supporting Indian Wikipedia Program resource distribution

In 2017 - 2018, the Wikimedia Foundation and Google working in close coordination with the Centre for Internet and Society (CIS), Wikimedia India chapter (WMIN) and user groups will pilot a program encouraging Wikipedia communities to create locally relevant and high-quality content in Indian languages. This program (Code name: Project Tiger) will:

(a) Support active and experienced Wikipedia editors through the donation of laptops and stipends for internet access and
(b) Sponsor a language-based contest that aims to address existing Wikipedia content gaps.

The objective of the program is to provide laptops and internet stipends for existing editors who need support to contribute more actively. 50 basic model Acer Chromebooks and Internet stipends for 100 contributors are available for distribution. Provided resources are the sole property of the beneficiaries and should be used for the betterment of the movement.

If you're an active Wikimedian, and interested to receive support from this project, please apply. It will take around 10 minutes of your time, and will ask descriptive questions about your contribution to Indic Wikimedia projects.

Project Tiger Writing Contest

In 2017 – 2018, the Wikimedia Foundation and Google working in close coordination with the Centre for Internet and Society (CIS), Wikimedia India Chapter (WMIN) and user groups from India, are piloting a program encouraging Wikipedia communities to create locally relevant and high-quality content in Indian languages. This program will (a) support active and experienced Wikipedia editors through the donation of laptops and stipends for internet access and (b) sponsor a language-based contest that aims to address existing Wikipedia content gaps.

Phase (a) has been completed, during which active contributors were awarded laptops and internet stipends. Phase (b) will be a contest in which editors will come together and develop a writing contest focused on content gaps. Each month three individual prizes will be awarded to each community based on their contribution for the month. The prizes worth 3,000 INR, 2000 INR, and 1,000 INR, will be awarded to the top contributors for each month. The contest started at March 1, 2018, 0:00, and will end at May 31, 2018, 23:59 (IST). AfroCine: Join us for the Months of African Cinema in October!

Newsletter WikiProject Worcestershire

Worcestershire - one of England's oldest and still existing (with some minor boundary changes) ceremonial and political shires, famous for its nearly 1000 year old cathedral, the River Severn, the

sauce. The Wikiproject is now in need of some attention. Created 12 years ago, this project amassed a huge resource for editors working on all kinds of articles and categories related in some way or another to the county. Kudpung is more or less retired from Wikipedia getting on for 2 years ago and it would be good if a group of editors could get it up to date and continue to maintain it.

Welcome to the third WikiProject Worcestershire newsletter

and the first one in (checks notes) THIRTEEN years! When I first joined this WikiProject back in December last year, I was slightly tempted to mark it as inactive, as activity had extremely slowed and there had been no new participants in 3 years. But I have decided to revive this project, as Worcestershire means a lot to me and I know it does for so many others. But as many participants of this project have disappeared completely off Wikipedia, this project is now in dire need of attention and it would be helpful if a group of editors could join me and continue to maintain it.

What's happened since last time

Hanley Castle High School was was promoted to Good article on 30 August 2012. There are 78 good articles for educational institution of all kinds of which there are 4 GA for secondary schools in the UK. Hanley High School is the first state school in the UK to become GA.

. The nomination unfortunately failed due to unforeseen unavailability of the editors working on the article. It only requires minor attention to be renominated.

The photo by David Iliff of the medieval cloisters in Worcester Cathedral (pictured above) appeared as picture of the day on 5 October 2016.

Urse d'Abetot was awarded Featured Article status on 13 October 2009. Promoted by Karanacs, the article was 96.4% the work of Ealdgyth. It was finally featured on the main page on 14 April 2018.

The Battle of Powick Bridge was awarded Featured Article status in 2020 and appeared on the Main Page on 12 February 2023.

    Now that the 2021 census details have been released, most settlement articles need updating. This website: https://www.citypopulation.de/ can be helpful, although you should note this does not collect data from hamlets or small villages.
  • Monitor
    The watchlist to keep an eye on changes to the project's articles so that vandalism and spamming can be removed as quickly as possible.
  • Infoboxes
    Some of our articles need their infoboxes completing.
  • References
    Please remember that the list of stubs needing expansion is always in need of attention. Please take a look and see if you can help. One small edit, such as adding a reference section and reference, to an article each session would make a big difference. If you are uploadiing an image, be sure it has a correct FUR, and that you have preferably already created a link on the page where you want it to be.
