Ok as far as it goes. You should link to, & explain a bit http://libmma.org/portal/access-hours-and-policies/ - you can't just walk in off the street I presume. Do you need to demonstrate your credentials as a researcher? It doesn't go much/any further than Metropolitan_Museum_of_Art#Libraries. You could just set up a redirect to that for now. Really the whole MMA online resources need a section, including these catalogues, the "Timeline" etc. Stuff added at the main article will get more views. Johnbod (talk) 01:03, 24 September 2013 (UTC)
    • I created an article stub for this today Thomas J. Watson Library- please review it if you have the time and tell me what you think. You'll see that any old person off the street is allowed to use the library now (so long as they're 18 or older). Thanks.WilliamDigiCol (talk) 19:42, 2 October 2013 (UTC)

COMMENT: I would also like to add to (all artists have work featured in the catalog): New York City (in further reading); List of museums and cultural institutions in New York City (would it be relevant here?); John Trumbull (1); Samuel Morse (2,4-6, 160 --- TOO BIG/KNOWN FOR OTHER THINGS??); John Wesley Jarvis (3); Charles C. Ingham (7, 32); Asher Brown Durand; (8-10, 25, 30-31. 115-116, 122b, 125, 132); Henry Inman (painter) (11-12, 15); Thomas Seir Cummings (17, 22); Thomas Cole (23-24); John Quidor (26); Robert Walter Weir (27); William Sidney Mount (28); George Caleb Bingham (29); Lilly Martin Spencer (33); WILL ADD MORE SOON... WilliamDigiCol (talk) 19:00, 15 May 2013 (UTC)

Perhaps not the list, or even the city, but you could try that. Add History of New York City, History of New York City (1784–1854), maybe History of New York City (1855–1897), and there will probably be many more in Category:History of New York City it could be added to, like specific areas, buildings, etc. Central Park was started in this period, no? Yes, 1857. What about the Metro? These must feature, no? Johnbod (talk) 19:36, 15 May 2013 (UTC)

  • More specific objects, and/or catalogue numbers: 439/40, 438, 410, 204/225, 203/224, 193, 192, 180, 179, 177, 165/166, 130, 110, 109, 108, 107, 91/105, 104, 103, 102, 101, 100, 99, 64, 58. Johnbod (talk) 18:18, 8 November 2012 (UTC)
    • Thank you for all of the suggestions. I am just wondering how you think it would be best for me to link to this material. For instance, should I add an external link on Codex Glazier to this catalog? Or is there a better way for me to go about this? Thanks as always for your assistance. WilliamDigiCol (talk) 14 November 2012
      • That would be the first step; all of the above could have at least an EL. In cases like Codex Glazier, where there is a specific entry on a object, it can be added as "Further reading" in a new section, after references, preferably using a format like:
  • Weitzmann, Kurt, ed., Age of spirituality: late antique and early Christian art, third to seventh century, no. XXX, 1979, Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York, ISBN 9780870991790; full text available online from The Metropolitan Museum of Art Libraries. [giving the catalogue number.]
    • The ideal is to do what I have been doing with the book at Early Christian art and architecture, where I have been adding content from the book, and also referencing existing content, using it as a reference. Of course that takes longer. I think a wording like "fully online from The Metropolitan Museum of Art" makes it clearer in all cases - too many people add links that just go to an Amazon or google page with little or no "preview" text. I'm fine with all these except Dutch and Flemish Renaissance painting, which stops around 1600 or earlier. All the artists mentioned are classed as Dutch Golden Age painting or Flemish Baroque painting. But the Renaissance painting one doesn't have much, so if they have a few before 1600 then fine. There are also some El Greco, Velazquez, Goya, and Rembrandt paintings in the catalog, but I don't know that it warrants a link on any of these pages. WilliamDigiCol (talk
) 20:28, 9 April 2013 (UTC)

I see there are only 42 works catalogued - isn't it a collection catalogue rather than an exhibition one? I think the big topics are probably best avoided, but yes to all the individual arts as follow:
Master of the Legend of St. Ursula (Bruges) (16); Dieric Bouts (17); Master of Frankfurt (18); Joos van Cleve (19); Gerard David (20-22); Master of the Female Half-Lengths (23); Utrecht Caravaggism (28); David Teniers the Younger (29-30); Gerard ter Borch (33-34); Pieter de Hooch (35-36); George Romney (painter) (41); Henry Raeburn (42). - not the really big names I think, though some of the actual works might have articles. The Goya boy with caged bird should have one, but doesn't. I presume View of Toledo, Havemeyer not Lehmann, is not there? Johnbod (talk
