Frank Leslie's Illustrated Newspaper

Note that due to the news cycle for images at the time, the corresponding illustrations may be weeks or months after the event in question occurred. Likewise, many place names are misspelled and idiosyncratic or uncommon names for battles are used. Official Records of the War of the Rebellion
The Official Records of the War of the Rebellion are a collection of primary sources of the civil war in the form of reports and correspondence of the armies and navies of the Union and the Confederacy. Material from both sides was collected during and in the decades after the war and edited into over 100 volumes.
