Scope

This task force covers all topics related to the American Civil War.

Frank Leslie's Illustrated Newspaper

Likewise, many place names are misspelled and idiosyncratic or uncommon names for battles are used. Selections of the various wood engravings were later collected and presented in the following volumes, where those that are selected are usually in more-pristine condition than in the original newspaper (there is less newsprint bleed):

Official Records of the War of the Rebellion
are a collection of primary sources of the civil war in the form of reports and correspondence of the armies and navies of the Union and the Confederacy. Material from both sides was collected during and in the decades after the war and edited into over 100 volumes.
