Revision as of 19:17, 1 December 2020

Welcome—request protection of a page, file, or template here.

Before requesting, read the protection policy. Full protection is used to stop edit warring between multiple users or to prevent vandalism to high-risk templates; semi-protection and pending changes are usually used to prevent IP and new user vandalism (see the rough guide to semi-protection); and move protection is used to stop pagemove revert wars. Extended confirmed protection is used where semi-protection has proved insufficient (see the rough guide to extended confirmed protection)

After a page has been protected, it is listed in the page history and logs with a short rationale, and the article is listed on Special:Protectedpages. In the case of full protection due to edit warring, admins should not revert to specific versions of the page, except to get rid of obvious vandalism.

Request protection of a page, or increasing the protection level

Request unprotection of a page, or reducing the protection level

Request a specific edit to a protected page
Please request an edit directly on the protected page's talk page before posting here

Current requests for increase in protection level

Place requests for new or upgrading pending changes, semi-protection, full protection, move protection, create protection, template editor protection, or upload protection at the BOTTOM of this section. Check the archive of fulfilled and denied requests or, failing that, the page history if you cannot find your request. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.

I have no idea what is going on here. The redirect, BTW, had a copyvio notice on it - which I've never seen on a redirect. Anyway, somebody else pick it up from here if I erred. Thanks. — Maile (talk) 17:08, 1 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

    Temporary semi-protection: Continued

vandalism here, just like the last time I asked for protection a few days ago – as soon as this came off the last semi-protection it has started up again. And just like I warned in my last report, it doesn't look like the vandal is going to drop this. So a longer period of semi-protection is needed this time. --IJBall (contribstalk) 07:32, 30 November 2020 (UTC)[reply

vandalism – Repeated vandalism attempts over protracted period from unregistered IPs. Non-administrator comment: Intellectualyo, doesn't it under semi-protection before? i think semi-protection should be reinstated in the article since it was removed by full protection. In fact that majority of vandalism comes from multiple IP users. 180.244.146.59 (talk) 12:20, 30 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

    Panamint Springs

Temporary full protection: Content dispute/edit warring – There is an outstanding AfD about this article. Those who want it deleted insist that there is no such community, that there is only a resort there. One of those editor re-wrote the article to be about the resort only, and request that it be moved, thus usurping the function of the AfD. The article should be fully protected until the AfD is closed, at which time any changes can be made. Beyond My Ken (talk) 21:06, 30 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

BMK doens't seem to get the facts that the only thing at this location is the Panamint Springs Resort: a motel, campsite, restaurant, as service station, all owned and operated by the same people who live on-site. This is not a community in which there is a resort, it's just the resort, as supported by the sources I have added. Why is BMK removing sources [4][5][6][7]? If protected it should maintain the current version with these sources. Reywas92Talk 21:44, 30 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

    2024 Nuseirat rescue operation

Reason: This was a massacre, not a rescue operation. The IDF killed more than 274 innocent civilians according to Aljazeera (https://www.aljazeera.com/news/2024/6/11/nuseirat-anatomy-of-israels-massacre-in-gaza) and the IDF managed to kill 3 of their hostages in this operation. Therefore, to reduce misinformation, this article needs to be edited to the facts collected by numerous news agencies. The new title should be "2024 Nuseirat Massacre". Unprotection: This article has a high edit rate and most edits are constructive, sometimes leaving a backlog of unaccepted edits. I see no evidence of persistent vandalism or BLP violations. Can we try removing pending changes? (I asked the protecting admin but it seems they are only here occasionally). --Pontificalibus 08:50, 30 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

(Non-administrator comment) I would not advise lifting the Pending Changes for this article mainly due to it having a history of unsourced content being added (which was the reason Pending Changes was applied in the first place.) There are other similar lists that are under indefinite Pending Changes or Semi-Protection for similar reasons. IP edits still need to be reviewed for unsourced changes like this one from two days ago. While the page has a high edit rate most of them are autoconfimed and higher accounts which the software automatically accepts (unless an IP or non-confirmed edit needs reviewed.) Alucard 16❯❯❯ chat? 13:52, 30 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Lots of articles are subject to the addition of unsourced content, that doesn't mean they should have permanent pending changes protection. The
pending changes policy does not list this as valid reason. Aside from the three listed reason it is only permitted for articles "subject to significant but temporary vandalism or disruption". The protection was added to this article over a year ago, perhaps there was a temporary problem then, but now is time to try removing it.----Pontificalibus 14:37, 30 November 2020 (UTC)[reply
    ]
Pending changes protection can be applied on an indefinite basis if there is long term disruption. Based on the last six months I'm personally not convinced that pending changes should be lifted. Also the page is not causing an undue burden on PCRs. Alucard 16❯❯❯ chat? 15:13, 30 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
    • As the protecting admin (who indeed is only here occasionally) I would say the low bar for pending changes protection is still being met. But I have no objections to that being overridden by another admin if needs be. No need to check with me. Cheers Fish+Karate 16:29, 1 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

    Talk:Donald Trump

    Please add the following:

{{rfc|Should the sentence "He is the first and only President to have been impeached twice and to be convicted of a felony." be added after the first sentence?}} 66.69.214.204 (talk) 02:55, 12 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Declined This is a noticeboard for simple edits and corrections, not yet another venue to demand that a new RfC be opened minutes after the last one was closed with no consensus after thousands of bytes were spent, still less for attempts at bludgeoning discussions by proxy Acroterion (talk) 03:06, 12 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

    Israel–Hamas war

At present we have "On 24 May, the International Court of Justice ruled that Israel must immediately halt its Rafah offensive.[1]"

I suggest changing it to include a longer, semantically-complete, quotation, to read: "On 24 May, the International Court of Justice ruled that Israel must immediately halt its military offensive, and any other action in the Rafah governorate, which may inflict on the Palestinian group in Gaza conditions of life that could bring about its physical destruction in whole or in part.[2]"

As the Guardian article points out, and reports judges as arguing, the last comma is critical to the meaning of the ruling. Hunc (talk) 10:49, 12 June 2024 (UTC) Create a level 3 header with a link to the article in question, then a {{pagelinks}} template and then the reason.[reply]

Edit-request: Please change the section title Polyandry to Polygamy and the main page link to Polygamy in India, because it talks about polygamy, not exclusively about polyandry, read the section. 2409:4073:211E:2145:942C:4A16:91A5:C3F4 (talk) 13:29, 1 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
