This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of Mullur, and it appears to be very similar to another wikipedia page: Tungal. It is possible that you have accidentally duplicated contents, or made an error while creating the page— you might want to look at the pages and see if that is the case.

This message was placed automatically, and it is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article and it would be appreciated if you could drop a note on

Indian Wikipedians by no of edits

Hi,

I plan to introduce following columns to this list

- S.No (first column)
- 'City'
- Edit areas (I can put my main edits are related to categorization of pages)

Pl suggest which columns can be added and if they need renaming or not.
Also can we have a new page where these top Indian Wikipedians (by edit count) can suggest ways of improvement/better collaboration, the current page

Article on Solomon Joseph

Hi Tinu,

I am Mathew, the associate editor of Sunny News based in Bombay. We have started this newspaper to fulfil the lifelong unfulfilled dream of journalist and social worker Solomon Joseph. It is great to read that you are one of the 13 wiki editors in India...congratulations...keep up the good work...

There are a lot of details about his life that need special mention and i have to get the details and references from his family.

Solomon Josep might not be that well known in Kerala due to the fact that he was based in Bombay and due to the fact that he had to work in a Government job to support his family but that does not mean his articles and deeds are not worthwile mentioning in wikipedia. Most of Malayalees in Bombay remember him as the ONLY Malayalee to have consistently raised cudgels against the Shiv Sena.

His life and family were threatened by communal politicians several times and he lived under police protection many a time. But even that did not deter him. He lived and struggled day and night for the Malayalee community in Bombay till his death.

Please do let me know what kind of references u need and i will provide them to make the article perfect. I would appreceiat your help in properly structuring this article.

Thanks

Mathew. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Mthomasin (talkcontribs) 23:40, 8 January 2009 (UTC)

Thanks for your kind appreciation. I guess your concern was regarding my
reliable sources". If not the article will be deleted. If you believe Solomon Joseph is truely notable , back up the article with reliable references. Please understand that WP is not a short cut to be notable. If there is anything that I can help, let me know. -- Tinu Cherian

Thanks!

Thanks so much for the welcome! As you know this is my first post, so I am very nervous about the reaction from others. :) I've been incorporating the changes suggested by other people to the best of my ability, but you see, I can't make head or tail of some of the comments. For example, someone says the article is too personalized, and I've looked and looked and can't find the personal connection. I've read the rules thoroughly and taken a lot of effort to make sure the article sounds fair. Does being neutral mean saying some bad things about the subject I've chosen? Since this is my first article I only went by whatever info I could fin online, from known newspapers and journals.
Also, another editor says it looks like an essay, or an advertisement. How can the same article be an advertisement, too personalized as well as an essay?I'm very confused, and your adice would be very welcome!

Thanks again! Best wishes,

Nomination for adminship

Hi again Tinucherian! On an unrelated note, I've reviewed a number of your contributions and decided that I would be honored to nominate you for adminship. If you're interested, please let me know, and I'll open a nomination page for you. If you're not interested, take this nomination as a commendation for your tireless work on the wiki. I'll be eager to hear from you either way. Best regards, Arbitrarily0 (talk) 00:00, 13 January 2009 (UTC)

First of all, thanks a lot for your kind words and sweet offer. Unfortunately I am not currently interested in a RFA myself...Infact many kind wikipedians have offered me to nominate on and off wiki earlier and I have thankfully declined till now. The main reason is that I am happy doing what I do now. I am looking forward for more content building as of now. Also to get a few GAs and FAs for some personal satisfaction. May be in another 6-9 months, I may re-think of me worthy of being an admin :)...Again, Thanks a lot.... -- Tinu Cherian - 05:20, 13 January 2009 (UTC)

Bot creation

Hi TinuCherian. Thanks again for your

AWB instructions. I've had some practice using it for WikiProject tagging and now I was wondering how to start the process of creating a bot like TinucherianBot. Thanks again, Arbitrarily0 (talk
) 13:04, 12 January 2009 (UTC)

I hope you have gained considerable practice manually in wikiproject tagging with AWB and Kingbotk plugin. Inorder to gain a bot flag please create another account say
BRFA ( like Wikipedia:Bots/Requests for approval/TinucherianBot 3 ) for the bot task approval and a bot flag. A bot flag enables the account in AWB to use the bot features, mainly autosave, so that you dont have to click save. Make sure you also get AWB access for the new bot account. Let me know if you have any questions or doubts -- Tinu Cherian
- 05:33, 13 January 2009 (UTC)
Okay, I have tagged 75 more articles just to make sure. :) I have created a created another account () 22:17, 13 January 2009 (UTC)
Create the BRFA first and then request for an AWB access for the bot account and point to the BRFA there. Btw just a slice of caution. Please be extremely cautious while tagging articles based on catgeories. Using the recursive option of categories to create article list is extremely dangerous. If someone is requesting for the bot service to be used to add a WikiProject banner to the talkpages of all articles in a particular category or its subcategories, please be very careful to check the category tree for any unwanted subcategories. You might not expect Category:World War II to be a subcategory of Category:Thailand, but it actually is, and a bot will find it! It is usually safer to give a complete list of categories that should be worked through individually, rather than one category to be analysed recursively. -- Tinu Cherian - 14:21, 14 January 2009 (UTC)
Thanks for the help TinuCherian. I have opened up the BRFA here. Thanks again, Arbitrarily0 (talk) 23:57, 14 January 2009 (UTC)
Perfect ! Let me know if you need any help. There are other AWB based bot task which User:TinucherianBot which you can find them here. You may also do them if interested -- Tinu Cherian - 04:38, 15 January 2009 (UTC)

Hi Tinucherian! Do you think this is right? I may be biased as the person to have created the article. Nevertheless, since the church at

22:17, 14 January 2009 (UTC)

I have seen this redirect action earlier. Personally it is not a big change as 71/2 churchs of st.thomas == Saint Thomas Christian tradition. But dont worry , I am actually researching on more info of the present existence and other history of these 7 churches. So this is more than the scope of "Saint Thomas Christian tradition" article. Once i have better info , I will myself remove the redirect and add the stuff, so that it is inarguable. On that otherhand church at Mylapore is within the 7 church but deserves mention as other churches believed to related to St. Thomas. Btw Happy Pongal -- Tinu Cherian - 09:26, 15 January 2009 (UTC)

Need some information on Chand Dynasty

Hi I am very interested in the Chand Dynasty. I have read that they had an origin in Rajasthan as the 1st King was maybe a king in Rajasthan and come to Uttarkhand is that absolutely incorrect? What exactly happened how did this dynasty come to an end was it the British? Are there any known remnants ? Did the British make the Chand Kings land owners like they did with the other kingdoms?

Any information will be much appreciated. Thank You [email protected] —Preceding unsigned comment added by Slashjames (talkcontribs) 01:00, 14 January 2009 (UTC)

I can't see that this article is really India-related - Wayne was only a schoolboy in India (for two years) as his parents were missionaries. In fact, IMO the Dehradun tag is a bit misleading too... What do you think? Jpaulm (talk) 20:51, 16 January 2009 (UTC)

the article Wayne Stevens was tagged because it was under the Category:People from Dehradun ,Dehradun being a place in India. Wayne was born in Missouri, but spent 2 years at the Woodstock school, which I assume is in or near Dehradun...? Someone added the category some time ago, and I left it as I assumed it meant anyone who had a connection with a place. If it is only for people born in a place, then it should definitely go! I have accordingly removed it! Thanks for the feedback! Jpaulm (talk) 15:02, 19 January 2009 (UTC)

Thanks again. The bot was approved earlier today, so now I can begin tagging. Feel free to redirect WikiProject tagging requests over to me if you develop a backlog. Best regards, Arbitrarily0 (talk) 20:43, 22 January 2009 (UTC)

DYK for Devanahalli Fort

Updated DYK query On January 27, 2009, Did you know? was updated with a fact from the article Devanahalli Fort, which you created or substantially expanded. If you know of another interesting fact from a recently created article, then please suggest it on the Did you know? talk page.

Village is noun, not a name

Hi.

Could you please create articles named "Xxxxxx (village)" in stead of "Xxxxxx (Village)", as village is a noun, not a name, and therefore should not be initcapped.

Thank you

Suggestion for WikiProject India

Hi, I am not sure whether you have noticed that the number of Categories tagged with WP India has risen from less than 1000 to more than 3000 now (in past 2 to 3 months). I guess many people from WP India have worked diligently in marking all appropriate categories with our tags.

I have a suggestion to put your Bot to use, for tagging all articles within these categories. Here are my suggested steps, which you can probably enhance with your experience and knowledge in fine-tuning these.

  1. Get all categories marked with WP India (Category:Category-Class India articles).
  2. Quick manual review to weed out categories which may have some articles that are not of interest to WP India group (to reduce percentage of false-positives).
  3. Select all articles / templates within these categories.
  4. De-duplicate and Sort the list. List 1.
  5. List 2 to be created from Category:WikiProject India articles, by sorting.
  6. Remove items in List 1 which are also in List 2 (so that we reduce list to only those that are not yet tagged with WP India).
  7. If possible a quick manual review of the filtered list can be done.
  8. Feed results to TinucherianBot for tagging with WP India.

My gut feeling is that there could be about 5 to 10 K more articles that are of interest to WP India, which are not yet tagged as such.

Enjoy a good Republic day. VasuVR (talk, contribs) 17:56, 25 January 2009 (UTC)

Belated Republic day wishes. Btw you must have noticed that
talk · contribs · logs) also have recently working hard on tagging India related articles , templates and categories. Much of this sudden burst of WP:INDIA articles/cats may also be artibuted to this. TinucherianBot had tagged most of the articles in these categories these days. Thanks you for your efforts in tagging the remaining ones. I will now run the bot on these categories on a regular interval now. Yes, there must be many more India related articles. I will be identifying these missing cats also and run the bot over them too -- Tinu Cherian

I should have guessed that
WP India}} template. Out of curiosity, what percentage of false positives do you think could creep into these categories? VasuVR (talk, contribs

Very Careful selection of cats were taken to choose them by me manually, before feeding to the bot. Hence it was near to nil false positives for WP:INDIA as of now :) The best thing I do is not to allow the bot to run complete recursively over the categories. Maximum I do is one level of recursive after checking the below subcats manually -- Tinu Cherian - 11:02, 29 January 2009 (UTC)

New Page Patrolling

Hi there! I've been going through the New Pages log, particularly the back end of it. I've come across an article (Morkulangara Devi Temple) that you've added a tag to that hasn't been patrolled. I was wondering if you could make sure that you mark an article as patrolled before you tag it as then it won't show up on the list, which will save people patrolling an article that has already been looked at by an experienced editor like yourself.

Please accept my apologies if you are doing this and the software is lagging behind, or if you're just tagging articles that you're coming across from a different source that doesn't allow you to patrol them. Thanks in advance! --Ged UK (talk) 08:07, 15 October 2008 (UTC)

Thanks for bring this to my notice. But I dont usually 'patrol' new articles. You are right.I am using a different source that doesn't allow you to patrol them. These pages which I tag are taken in Wikipedia:WikiProject India/New articles . Hence it doesnt show the mark as patrolled link as it is not taken from the Special:NewPages. :( Let me see if something can be done for this -- Tinu Cherian - 03:55, 28 January 2009 (UTC)
Thanks for that. I would have thought that the wiki software could come up with something like that so I'd be interested to see! --Ged UK (talk) 07:56, 28 January 2009 (UTC)
Pardon me for intruding, but this thing has been available in Wikibooks for a long time as of now. I guess they thought implementing it in Wikipedia quite recently-RavichandarMy coffee shop 08:28, 29 January 2009 (UTC)

I have created around 1500 villages in Kerala and Karnataka as of now. After that the census site of the goverment of India , went down. So I am unable to proceed as this was my source of data. I will start this again when the site is up again -- Tinu Cherian - 07:50, 29 January 2009 (UTC)
