The East Indiaman was abandoned in the Indian Ocean off the coast of the Cape Colony with the loss of at least twelve lives. Fourteen survivors were rescued by HMS Swallow ( Royal Navy ). Stalwart was on a voyage from Bombay to Liverpool , Lancashire .[53] [57] [58]
